Europe has had multiple empires through out history.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empire
So this is nothing to be surprised about.
So yes, there have been European empires, like the British Empire.

Ah... Ignorance. Great for the ignorant, insulting to all others.
Haven is the general idea of European feudalism. You have one large kingdom, split up into smaller sections to make the general population easier to control. However, Haven is more like the over the top model of feudalism. Each duchy might represent a country, while the whole empire represents the general make-up of Europe.
That, or it is just England or Germany or something...
Oh, and Demons are definitely from Mars. Totally.

Maybe heroes like Akasha are one of the nagas of the 3rd species.
Or they decided to remove Spring Sprit from the game
Demons are a group of pyromaniac teenagers, and the Town is their dream home
Edit: I liked more the name Cloudwalker Kirin.

Nobody was talking about a "Europe Empire", we were talking about a "EuropeAN Empire" it's a subtle difference.
But basically: What Protolisk said.
Edit: Looking back in the thread, you're the person that interpreted Dave's comment "Europe" as "Europe Empire".
He never wrote that.

Human = Your generic chivalric feudal european medieval kingdom. There, clear enough? When people says "Human-Europe", do you really think he/she means an empire named the "European Empire"?

Sanctuary is not entirely Japan-inspired. They've said "Think Japan, China, India, Thailand. The inspiration for the Naga come from Asia".
Would you argue "there is no Asian empire!"?
In the same way the inspiration for Haven comes from Europe. No need to be difficult.

My dear lady you are generalizing the origins of each faction.
Sanctuary, is not only inspired by Japan, but also by China, Thailand, India. so it is better to say "eastern Asia"
Necromancer are not only inspired by Egipt but also by mezopotania and the ancient near east.
Humans are inspired by the knights of the europian medieval, and the time of crusades.
Stronghold is not Aztec only.. but also has traces of other indian cultures, and some of polinesien and Pasifick islands.
If you want to generalize the most apropriet for human faction would by Roman empire in ancient times or Holly roman empire in the medieval(germany)

Faction concept is made up of two elements, that's easier to tell for some, not so much with others. Take the H5 sylvan, it had both celtic and native American touches.
In H6 inferno all I remember is that it has a Lovecraftian touch. Haven aside from the feudalism theme has some Roman references like the cavalry shields and the praetorian unit.

Hmm Akasha is definately a Deep Naga (snakelike head). Yume on the other hand looks more human, maybe she belongs to a clan of Nagas that lives on earth

Yume most likely belongs to the Corral Maiden species.

On a different note (I don't know if it has been mentioned), there has appeared a "Locked" category in the creatures section on Ubi's homepage.
I don't think it will be long until they reveal the creature descriptions and abilities for Sanctuary.
Edit: http://might-and-magic.ubi.com/heroes-6/en-GB/game/creatures/index.aspx
Edit2: Seems like it's been there for some time.

My ignorance comment was origanally pointed towards nighty, but I can see how you thought it was aimed at you. Sorry for that. But, no. Feudalism did exist in Europe around the same time as it did in Asia. I usually see feudalism referred to Europe more often than other sources. All of the western European empires relied on feudalism or at least the idea of vassals at some point in their history.

From the faction overview:
Haven Inspiration: Medieval Western Europe (for the general atmosphere and design), Imperial Rome (for the military organization and “Pax Romana” concept), Knights Templar (for the sense of religious mission), Victorian England (for the puritanical nature and strict class division).
Inferno Inspiration: Greek Maenads / Bacchantes (the frenzied followers of Greek God Dionysus), Decadent Rome (Nero, Caligula, Heliogabale etc), Carthage or Aztec Priests.
Necro Inspiration: Ancient Egypt (Book of the Dead), Buddhism (asceticism and rejection of the world of flesh as illusory and transient), all kinds of sects (fanaticism, cult of the leader, fascination with order and purity).

Wait, demons are inspired by stupid and lustful rulers? No wonder. But the Dionysus freaks? Strange, but I guess you really can't see the god of drunken frat parties underneath all that fire and brimstone, so whatever.
Thank you Elvin for clearing things up with things we already should have known. I knew it was written down somewhere (faction description) but I was lazy.
