I'm sure it could be just like drinking when it comes to driving.
A breathalyzer should be able to detect THC levels (I don't know the science, but I'd imagine there is something detectable in that smell). It would be a DUI.
Notice that DUI (driving under the influence) was changed from DWI (driving while intoxicated) so that it could expand to other drugs.
I wholeheartedly agree that it should be legalized, or cigarretts and booze should be illegal.

Quote: Heh. I found who these people are -- a Google search puts them all over sites dealing with the legalization of marijuana. Not exactly unbiased. I'd like to see who did the "driving studies" that showed no driving impairment. I find it hard to believe that the effects of marijuana somehow manage not to interfere with driving
1. they said little or no impartment.they didn`t say no impartment.
2.if non-smokers and people who are against legalization would do these "driving studies",would you trust them? they are not exactly unbiased, either.

Crack is completely different. Marijuana is a natural herb. Crack is just some **** put together.

Natural herb, huh. And that makes it ok? It still messes up your mind, just like an excess of alcohol. It creates holes in your brain. And that's bad.

"Little or no impairment" and "no impairment" have the same effect, rhetorically. Both imply that it is okay to drive while under the influence of marijuana. Please note my other objections, most notably that a lack of fatal accidents does not mean a lack of accidents, period.
I do not believe that driving under the influence of marijuana is as harmful as driving under the influence of alcohol. However, it is still worse than driving sober. Heading down the highway at 35 mph when everyone else is going 60 mph is dangerous. The fact that it is less dangerous than zooming at 110 mph is irrelevant. Driving under the influence should be illegal, regardless of the legal status of marijuana in other circumstances.
Seriously, if you try to claim that it should not only be okay to smoke pot but also to drive after smoking pot, people are going to laugh at you, and marijuana will stay completely illegal.

I voted no. Legalize marijuana and many more will suffer its adverse affects, putting their lives in danger for a few hours of pleasure.
Also, it will not likely ever be prohibited again if it becomes legal; the drug will simply spread even more than it has as of now. The government tried to stop alcohol sales once, and most of us know how that went. They amended and amendment to legalize it again. History should never repeat its mistakes, or set itself up to do so. Legalizing marijuana would not be wise.

Yes, I agree with you. Driving while under the influence of Marijuana should not be legalized. Thats why I said if it was legalized it should have some restrictions.

Then we're agreed.
In response to Shadowcaster: In a way, the government is repeating the mistake of Prohibition. By refusing to legalize a substance, it leaves the economic benefits of that substance in the hands of criminals. I don't like the idea of marijuana being widely available anymore than I like the availability of alcohol, but it's too late for those kind of regrets. Marijuana's already out there and a lot of people are already smoking it. Since pot isn't really any worse than booze, we might as well give its distribution over to legitimate business just we did when ending Prohibition.

i meant all kinds of people.
and how can you say it`s not right?
if marijuana would be legal,it doesn`t mean that there would be a lot more people who would use it.simply because of the fact, that you can get it anywhere you want.the only problem is,if cops get you, they will take it (best scenario).and...they will probably smoke it!or sell it.
