That is progress when you leave those skills you don't need behind and learn new things. I think we mean the same thing but just say it differently.
Yes, I have lot of time here. This is my home town and I have visited my old friends too but it seems that most of them are away. This is small town and after highschool everybody leaves this place. Only empty streets are left.
And about my posting I just trying to get some posts done so I may get that custom avatar and it's always nice to "talk" with people like you.

Off topic, but what the heck, this thread has wandered...

Chariotess, it's nice to see you taking an interest here. I'm also impressed that you're trying to get your post count up by thoughtful, well written posts.

I hope when Sha gets back, you continue to have computer access.

And I hope you get that custom avatar soon. Your current one looks so much like my ex-wife it's scary.

Yes this thread has wandered little but were just people. When Sha gets back I might lose my virtual chances. I think he will give me time to use here. It's his computer but I can put up one good fight and maybe I get post or two through. Unless I leave before he comes back to my current home. I have modem but don't have phoneaccess so only place I can access this place is with some my friends computer or from library. I don't want to be random poster and want to be here to comment everything that is possible so I might end up giving up this until I get my phone.
Maybe your ex-wife sent a picture of her here and named it Verdish. Then when I took it you can always see her.
My custom avatar is vampire with city background but other thing is how do I get it here. Now I must keep couple of days free from posting I think Shamen won't be so pleased if his phonebill is too high.

Phone bill?

You never can tell what you might need in the future- it's like a small death though everytime you leave something behind never so use it again. Maybe we mostly agree... if the postulate of initative is assumed then we do agree.

Sha has to pay for dial-up on the phone? Hmm... I have heard of that in some other countries, but how does he play H3? That takes hours, so it can't be that bad for you to use a few hours. Well, it's your judgement anyway.

Chariotess...

I actually don't remeber exactly how custom avatars work on here... as you can see, I'm not using one myself.

(Yeah, I wonder how an absent-minded guy like me became a mod...)

I think the option for a custom avatar appears in your profile after you reach a certain post count.

Actually, once you have 50 posts, you can email your custom avatar to Valeriy, the board administrator, and ask him to add it.

I like the one you are using right now Chariotess. I'm trying really hard to remember where it comes from though...

i think "retired" mods, such as Angelspit, should get a complementary red star for the time and work they gave to this board...

The red stars...

well, I'm concerned with them as long as they are objective. They mirror the reputation of a person in a way. Not always but most of the times. I think Shae IS a responsible one... that sort of stuff. The red stars themselves doesn't have an actual meaning. The point is to be worthy of them.

Right?

I'm not sure whether it's just gradual time of being here and watching things go by, but I'll stick my neck out and say this.

When red stars first came, I thought, great idea, maybe we can get some people thinking in new directions, discussing things on a greater level. Let's face it, that even Woock the youngest of our community has ideas that are worth merit. And if they could affect him, then nobody was below their influence...

I was stupid enough to think that everybody would go on changing and growing except me. Hell why do I need to change for? Why do I need to start thinking in a more mature way? Aren't I mature enough already?

I now have four red stars and the title of 'Responsible'underneath my avatar and my name. First it was Promising and I thought "here we go, the Moderators have some silly title in mind."

The next star changed me I think. I hope I have changed. Being called and recognized as a Responsible poster made me feel that these stars weren't being given out nilly willy and there was no baggage attached to them. There is a subtle reminder with that title 'responsible' which makes you think that the Moderators have rewarded you for your efforts and now in turn, you're expected to repay some of what they have given you however trivial. I have tried to keep the fire in me, but every time I read that 'Responsible' word I kinda check myself and delete things that I would have otherwise said a few months ago.

Even though I am not and I believe I have not the maturity or time to be so, I feel like I am at the top of the echelon and that everyone here knows me as they would a moderator, maybe even more so. I do not like having four red stars and knowing that I am alone in feeling this way until someone joins me, but with every quality point I get, I feel older and more at ease with discussing things.

It's a nice feeling. I've always said that the moderators can take away the red stars and I won't have changed one bit. But the more I post, the more I realize that if they were taken away, I would feel less pressure to post according to a status and therefore I would feel less involvement with the board. And so I would be more likely to argue and flame and insult people... because I'd just be an ordinary poster again.

People keep knocking the red stars and when I look around, the only people doing the actual knocking are the people with no quality points. They kinda remind me of plebes who insult Vesuvius and his tourney just because they can't get to a higher rank and want everyone to be equal.

Well I'm sorry to say, but I've put in my time at this board and I've blown so many brain cells and had so many headaches from thinking about issues and playing the game that I deserve whatever stars the moderators have kindly given me and I hope that I've lived up to their expectations of what this board should be about. So has everyone else who's earned them and put in their time. Just because you're too lazy to use a bit of that grey stuff you call a brain doesn't mean you have the right to bring everyone down to low brow Neanderthal level just so you can feel like you're part of the pack.

*smile*

Miss Shae, you have to become my private tutor

Every time you give people a piece of your mind, I feel like a flea. This is yet another proof of the "responsible idea". I have always said power is responsibility... just hit the target, right, Shae?

Oh yes, I remember that post Hexa. (does anyone have a fly swatter nearby?!)

As I remember it didn't kill the thread and even if it did, the thread wasn't one of the more interesting ones I've come across lately and it already had enough momentum to miss my own (haha) post and continue on merrily.

And just to prove my point Hexa, I knew you'd say something like this about red stars (and me).
