Quote:
Chaotic Neutral is called the "Anarchist" or "Free Spirit" alignment. A character of this alignment is an individualist who follows his or her own heart, shirks rules and traditions. They typically act out of self-interest, but do not specifically enjoy seeing others suffer. Many adventurers are of this alignment.

An unusual subset of Chaotic Neutral is "strongly Chaotic Neutral", describing a character who behaves chaotically to the point of appearing insane. Characters of this type may regularly change their appearance and attitudes for the sake of change, and intentionally disrupt organizations for the sole reason of disrupting a Lawful construct. Characters of this type include the Xaositects from the Planescape setting, and Hennet from the third edition Player's Handbook. In Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, Chaotic Neutral was frequently assumed to refer to this subset.

Captain Jack Sparrow, Al Swearengen from the TV series Deadwood, and Snake Plissken from Escape from New York are verifiably Chaotic Neutral characters.[3] Slaadi represent pure Chaos.

Voila a clean and sound definition of chaotic neutral, now fight over something interesting

( to lex)

EDIT: you're no fun

Hey, at least my citizens aren't fat.

And I wouldn't say that a lawful neutral government would be authoritarian. I'd say authoritarianism would be more lawful evil. And how do I, a lawful/true neutral guy, have a chaotic neutral country? Interesting how that works out.

And how would one go about calculating a nation's alignment?

Heavy industry must go to expensive lengths to dispose of waste, the government is notorious for leaving citizens with almost nothing from their inheritance
That's not anarchic.

And allowing gambling makes your economy stronger, not weaker.

And? That doesn't mean the state can't intervene. Again, it's your WRONG interpretation because you have no experience.
Of course the state can intervene if the system is not Chaotic Neutral. Unfortunately, and it is what I said all along, your system doesn't promote Chaotic Neutralness among the citizens. If so, you would let them fend of for themselves (as long as they do not break out of the alignment so to speak). Compulsory is automatic fail here (military, taxes). That's because most of the government's "needs" come from taxes right? Taxes violate Chaotic Neutral and personal freedom (yes personal freedom above all). You don't even let them choose for some things which are personal and don't affect others (such as, compulsory paying for the police to help someone else, or compulsory military service).

Is my point clear now? It seems more towards Lawful Neutral but might actually be either Chaotic Evil (a bit) or True Neutral. It depends.

If you want more details on my point I will best leave it to HCM.

oh and btw:

No, you said my "interpretation". Stop correcting yourself after you realized you said something wrong
If interpretation doesn't come from experience (which means, someone interprets something from his experience obviously) then you are just arguing for the sake of it.

The government is an organizations in itself. Organizations don't allow individualism. A good example is your government which has compulsory stuff. Therefore, it is natural that they want to disrupt such organizations if you force them to do certain "cooperations". Chaotic Neutral are very individualistic. So yes it's exactly what I said.

(so if your people were Chaotic Neutral they would try to disrupt your government )

Dagoth, I come to read a thread to read interesting posts, not mindless quote wars which add nothing new to the conversation and just end up as arguing between the people involved. It brings the thread down. I'll read what I want, but I don't particularly enjoy seeing stuff like that, do you? If so, then go to the OSM and just read all the quote wars that went on, you'll have a great time.

I have to agree with Dagoth that you two (Will & Lex) don't help at all by spamming this thread continuously. At least my posts were somehow on-topic discussing the nation alignment philosophy.

And sorry Death but what you said in that post is completely wrong, but I will NOT point out what since I'm tired of arguing with you.
