Ya know, Pharaoh and Cleopatra are the only Impressions City Builder games I never got. I could never get past the third level in the Pharaoh demo; the timer when too fast for me to build the monument!
Zeus and Poseidon were fun. Not as complete as the more recent Emperor, but still very fun and warmly funny.

Pretty much. There are a lot of new features (Pharaoh came directly after Caesar III) including monument-building. I've only played the trial; I never got the full game. Caesar, Zeus, and Emperor kept me busy and I kinda didn't need to go to Egypt.

hey trading is coming along great. i kept running outta funds before. but when u told me how to trade i went from caesar wanting to kill me to...well...caesar wanting to kill me, but the latter is because of huge denarii in the bank

hey i have a question for all c3 players
when you build ur city do you bunch all the houses in one section or spread it out. 'cause i tend to just put my houses where i want them but my friend told me thar he/she/it just bunched them up into one section (because its too expensive to do spread them out), so which is better?

Housing blocks are usually better than random placement because you'll want to be as orderly as you can while you evolve your housing. As the game drags on you might find yourself running out of room and still needing to fit buildings in. If the placement was random to begin with, you might be tempted (or forced) to get rid of several out-of-place houses or buildings in order to place the structure you want. That will likely amount to extra work.
Housing blocks are usually two tiles wide. They follow a systematic pattern that tries to keep the necessary structures together. This is something like what mine looks like:

Sometimes I put four of the five various Small Temples at the ends of those H's to maximize appeasing the gods and spread good desirability. If need be, I'll place a Prefecture and an Engineer Post next to the Temple, which partially blocks the housing from the Pref's bad desirability effect:

i remember puting them in blocks of 4x4, each one self dependent and separated from the other neighbourhoods, with buisness and industry in between them
Pharaoh has the same game system like ceasar3 only with new features, like flooding of the nile, monuments and so on...

yea. fountains can be anywhere
and i agree with guitarguy. blocks are much better cause once u make one place more desirable then they all become more desirable and u dont have to keep builing ebgineer posts and prefecture everywhere. i kinda do what guitarguy with housing does but i have put temples or others things like baths or libraries instead.

All of this Caesar III talk got me going last night, and now I restarted the game from scratch and am playing through the missions like I did before.

I'm on Mission 4: Tarraco.
The last time I played (which is quite a while) I think I might have reached the 7th city. It's probably the one right after Carthago, but for all I remember it might've just been the 6th. I recall major food shortages nearly doubled or tripled the time I took beating those levels.
Not to mention those damned elephants!

im on mission 5 too.
does anyone know what u gotta do to get promoted? is that thingy at the start(favor, prosperity,ect)?
im just asking cause when i was playing lvl4 i got way past everything and after about 10 mins i got promoted

you just have to complete all the criteria for the mision. you go to one of the advisor that shows the prosperity, peace etc and under each heading is what you need. just fill that up and your done...
i think... i could be wrong...

When you hit the population and ratings objectives set by Caesar (also displayed in the Ratings Advisor) you'll pass the level. When you check the ratings, you should also see the number that's expected for each.

yea thats what i thought. i got everything above what was expected and i even had a pop of 3000+. maybe there is another catagory like money perhaps

when you say all of them do you mean ALL of them, because you only become promoted when you finish everything so you usually have some extra for the other criteria as your filling the last thing you need. so probably they are all over the rating except one of them wich is only a few points over.
