Why? Arcanes shoot only once, and I think their damage doesn't compensate the two shots. It seems I am not right (based on what you wrote), but why?

Because Nival team was utterly retarded when it came to balance. Master hunter damage doesn't even come close to arcanes.

at long range :
arcane archer : 8-9 damage and ignores 50% of the defense
master hunter : 5-8 damage
at short range :
arcane archer : 8-9 damage and ignores 50% of the defense
master hunter : 5-8 damage x2
melee combat :
arcane archer : 8-9 damage /2 and ignores 50% of the defense
master hunter : 5-8 damage /2

Ok, now this is the point at which I'm beginning to be furious…
I have moved on to hard difficulty, chose a 2 player-map, fortress enemy. He occupied the 2 other neutral towns, too, but I can't understand how he can upgrade 3 towns simultaneously (the one I sieged was level 19 and it starts from 1, and of course neutral towns don't upgrade themselves). On the very first day of month 3, this is the situation:

He has 2 heroes who are far stronger than me:

So how? How can he get so many troops while I'm striving with getting wood (as you can see, I still have much less than those of other resources) and building tier 6-7 buildings? How can he get not 1, but 2 stronger heroes (which means if he united them, he would have an irrationally enormous army)?
Regards,
X

Nad I have only one hero, because if I split my army, he would strike me even more easily than this...

Getting army of this size on the first day of month 2 is nothing impressive. Try harder
Still, proper use of overpowered Arcanes should give you victory, but you may loose all other units against one enemy.

In toh we used to build castle, capitol and tier 7 on week 2 so it is possible to have 3 tier 7 units by week 3. Not possible on all maps but you get the idea. The AI also has a good discount when building its towns and it can also see the map, it cheats HEAVILY However it is pretty stupid and easy to trick, if you get a little better the AI won't stand a chance even with a better army.

But how how how? I have so little wood from mines and scattered piles that it is impossible to build up the mentioned things in 2 weeks.

Yes, I have noticed it, when it came up from dungeon to surface, it directly turned towards my town and travelled to it as if it should knew where it was. It knew.

It is also possible that the map you play sucks. If it's a ubi map then you have confirmed my suspicions

Yes, it is.
Could you suggest a site that has really good maps to download? Or some you like to play on?

Thank you again!
I have downloaded Heritage of Deleb and the AI really built tier 7 on week 3. Meanwhile, I don't even have tier 6 and suffer from lack of resources. Irritating.

There I used to build tier 7 on week 2 Of course that takes some good creeping and not wasting time on backtracks, it is a hard map. Actually no, it is an insane map
If you are playing sylvan all you need to do is skip treants, dragons shouldn't be too hard to get on the 2nd week along with castle and capitol. Now if you also play Ossir..

In my last game, I eventually got to treants (building dragons first), however my combat ended before they even acted. Lol. I just RAPED the enemy.
Brings me to a point:
is it even worth to get treants at all? I mean, savage treants after using their special become quite formidable troops (having higher ATT than tier7 units along with 12 points of initiative) but.. I have yet to play a game where the battle wasn't already decided up to that point.
I'm talking bigger maps where you have to "break" - which give you breathing room to get a big army.

Impossible. If not wood, then gems give the limit. I've just played on this map 4-5th time and got defeated again. Brain-crashing!

If you play well/fast enough you should have cleared most of your area AND built capitol/castle/dragons by end of week 2, hard difficulty. Can be tricky if you get arcanes guarding the ring of speed but other than that it's fair game. Kind of
Either way remember that this is a competitive standard and it comes from someone who has played the map a few times. That kind of play can take a while to master.

We used to end that map at week 3-4 max as well I quite liked it though. Battle for honour was another likable map, a little longer if memory serves. Unfortunately it wasn't updated with the tote spells but that's easy to fix.
