Never been more difficult to which one to vote. Like emm all! Have played Kings Bounty abit, now Im gonna play H1, played H2 demo. They have an old fashioned addictiveness to them. They have charm and good old fantasy attached. But they just dont have as much as most of us want anymore, not in terms of charm and such but of how much you can do in the games. They dont have to many creatures, different skill ways to go for heroes etc. They are simple, somewaht deep and charmy, if I should describe them short.

H3 and its Wog are amazing games and the original H3 with Armageddons blade in Compilation package was the first Heroes game I brought. It hooked me for many years and one of my cousins shared alot of times playing with me I'll never forget this game and its mod and expansion, they are classic they too. And now I enjoy playing the complete version with wog just as much as with H4 and H5.

H4 was...unusual, but cool and just as addicting. I loved the choices you had to take for creatures, but I missed more creatures per tier to choose and a tier more, up to level 5. It has the best RPG elements in any Heroes game I've played and the caravans, flaggable windmills, waterwheels, the heroes in combat was fantastic. I just missed better looks of creatures, the unicorn, medusa and the venom spawn was some of the worst, while others was just darn cool, like the Titans, the black dragons, the efreet etc. While I missed the Azure dragon, dendroids and so on. No matter it is a great game and I enjoy the H4 Complete to this day.

H5 is our new child, how cute. It has some bugs oh my yes and some of the patches have been a mixed bag. But overall I see positive on the progress, and now when a new expansion are on its way to nurse the game to health. I see no serious worries. H5 has one of the best skill systems, combat systems and town atmospheres I have seen, jsut as good as H2's. The caravan idea have returned from H4 and Im very pleased with that (even though I miss flaggable windmills, watermills, etc) The thiefs den and the barkeeper rumors, add nice samll touches for the game. The most of the creatures looks very good (yes even I dont quite like the look of the djinn, gargoyle etc). And Im happy to see classic creatures return (green, red dragons, walking trees, druids etc) and new ones added like berserking dwarves, succubi, raptor riders etc.

I think the series are one of the best in all of the TBS/RTS world and we! The fans of the series are IMHO the most entusiastic of all fanscares I have seen for any game serie. We have veterans, newbies and middle school fans. Heroes fits everyone for every group. The veterans may dislike H4 and 5 but loves the previous ones because it was those they played as young. And save them from boredom when nostalgia sets in We have new ones who may never have heard about the series and how Kings bounty, the Might&Magic series have something to do with Heroes. It may blow them away with the new H5 or just diguse them and drop it without a thought. And the middle ones (which Im part of) We may have started a journey through Xeens, Enroths history and lands until now, we are the jumpers, the ones who may have started playing and understanding the charm of beauty of this series after getting H2 or H4 but still want to go back in history to understand more and to continue playing the serie in form of H5.

Alas, I never played II, it was a bit before my time.

Now that I think about it, though, maybe I should fire up DosBox and find myself as copy...

Heroes 2 was made in 1997, and it was for windows.

Why would you want Dosbox for it? lol.

Anyway, the reason why I quote you for the AI thing is because you have to read this: Heroes IV AI testing. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Bwahahaha, that's a good laugh. AI testing is always fun in any kind of game, like tossing rats into a maze and seeing their performance. Kinda mean, somehow, but I like it.

On topic, I vote Heroes V. Heroes 3 was great, but these days I can't help but find it somewhat forlon feeling whenever I play it. On top of that, I kinda like the new magic schools system in H 5, as well the skills and abilities system, it gives a greater diversity in my opinion.

Plus the battles are far more spectacular than they were in H3, I think.

Oh, and I like the pretty brighter colours a lot more But that's a personal preference.

The creatures in Heroes 5 simply look better, honestly. Especially the Pit Lords and such, I just love all of their looks (except for the elfs).

H4 = Garbage. I mean come on, an army consisting of level 1, level 1, level 2, level 3, and level 4 creatures? That's only 5 stacks! And 2 heroes?? Guh.... Alright, it was new, it was interesting, but it completely sucked. Minotaurs at level 2, get out of here.

Inferno and Necropolis flung together, WHAT A JOKE!

H1 and H2, yet to play

Yes, i know there is a Dos Version of it, but it was mainly made for Windows, because Dos was not getting used as much for games back then, well it was, but not as much as it was getting used for the old DOS games back in 1995 and before that.

I'd have to say HOMM3 because it has like indestructable replayability.

I mean I've been playing the thing ever since it came out and I don't see an end ever in sight. I've never played any game anywhere near as long. It never gets old and is always fun so I think HOMM3 is the best game ever made.

H5 I like the graphics and some of the creatures are much improved (Pit Lord!)

i  vote for heroes 5, but i won't ever forget the good times i had with heroes 3.
i played it the first time when i was four and "talk talk talk"
and that's why i almost voted for heroes 3
heroes 5 had better graphigs and heroes 3 is becoming boring after 7 years,so i voted for heroes 5.
i hated wog, don't know why, just hate it

I started to play homm3 and i liked it...
Then i bought homm4 and i hated it.
I played the homm5 demo and loved it.
I think heroes 3 and heroes 5 are quite even.
A friend had homm 1 and 2 and we tried them.
I thought the animations in homm1 was funny
It was weir that it wasnt anny secondary skills in homm1
When I was looking for som maps for homm3 i found wog and downloaded it.
It was awesome
Its still my favorite game but i think homm5 has the most
balanced game system!

I voted for Heroes III, i think that the series where going the right way from I to III, getting better and better. But then Heroes IV came, which IMO is the worst thing that happened to the once fantastic game.
I am happy to see that Heroes V is getting the series on the right track once again...

Are you crazyHEroes v is way to cooler than h3

It`s hard to say. H2 is the funniest (vampires with their "blah", zombies with flies or this peasant`s dying yield which reminds some erotic things ) Also graphics was nice ( i like this style )
H3 is better technically on the other hand.so simply :
H2- the funniest
H3 -the best

HoMM1 was pretty cool, but it was completely blown away by the subject of my next clause.

I'd have to say that HoMM2 is the best. The art style is great (dragons actually look fierce), the music is fitting, so are the sound effects, and it has, in my opinion, the best upgrade system yet. I think that HoMM2 just has... synergy among all its features. Everything seems to fit, from the artwork to the gameplay.

I haven't played HoMM3 in a long time, but I must say that while it is more replayable than HoMM2, it added some things that I really didn't like, such as how ALL units upgrade, not just some, and some of the upgrades just seemed like nothing special or interesting, really. It messed up necromancy this way. The artwork was too "serious" anyways, and the sound effects seemed poor compared to HoMM2's.

HoMM4 was awful. 'Nuff said.

HoMM5, while having many concepts that I think are great (the experience, the organization of the spells), and having nice artwork, really lacks replayability. I don't have ToE yet, so time will tell if I'll like it more than HoMM2.
