issues opening console
I have read most of the pages over past few hours.. I have windows 7, all the patches. I am able to open/locate what I need to do, but when I am trying to save the "setvar dev_console_password = schwinge-des-todes"
bit it asks if i want to overwrite "autoexec" . I am not quite sure so I hit yes, and notepad closes the save window and says access denied. I am at a loss at what to do... I know this is a long time from when people still play the game, but I bought it when it was new and had alot of things happen and am just recently picking it back up. any help is appreciated. thanks.

In campaign 3 mission 2 of tribes of the east appear some orc heroes that are not on the heroes name list, why?

no start.cfg on ToTE
hi guys... im new around here hehe
anyway i'm playing ToTE now
and sadly i cant cheat XD hehe
i tried to find the autoexec_2.cfg or start.cfg in the game folder/profiles but it's just isnt there
i wonder why, did anyone have the same problem?
or maybe someone can help me?

activating console
Hello,
I have recently bought Heroes 5 Gold Edition and i have a problem activating the console. I have edited the autoexec and start files with codes and i have edited my profile file, but i was unable to activate the console. I have played around with settings of my profile like instead of tild i have put in F12 and then changed to CTRL + I, but nothing seems to work. My game version is 1.5. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks

I am having the exact same issues with my game. I have the cheats enabled for the regular game, but hammers of fate and tribes are not letting me save the changes. I have windows vista still, but otherwise I am getting the exact same message. It is very frustrating! Any advice would be welcome!

i need some help guys  i have heroes tote version 3.1
and i try to open the snowing console but wtf nothing happens at all ?
my start file looks so
mainmenu
setvar dev_console_password = schwinge-des-todes
and my input file ...
//===========================================================================
// Common section (always active)
bind show_console 'F12'
//===========================================================================
( of course there are the other things below de common section ..... )
so i press f12 in the game ? nothing happens ?

Tried doing @GiveHeroSkill but it seems like

I got a problem with the first sylvan mission in the original game. The mission is bugged like hell so i tried to cheat my way past it. I edited the files as i should and i have access to the console. But everytime i write @win() it just give me some kind of error message. Does anyone know what is wrong? Im using patch 1.6

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I've never used console before on any game ever... so yeah.
When I try to add troops it says "Replace current hero army by all creatures from NTownID". What does this mean? I don't see my troops getting any bigger. Is this because I need to use the @ function rather than the other one?

WHY CAN'T I ACTIVATE THE CHEAT FOR ANY OF THE HOMM5 (H5, HoF, ToE)?
I DID EVERYTHING THAT THE CHEAT COMMAND SAYS BUT IT DOES NOT WORK??

a slight problem.
I am a bit of a newb at this kinda thing. i am trying to edit the autoexec.cfg but im assuming for the console to become effective i would have to save said changes, that is where the problem is. Neither notepad or wordpad will allow me to save the changes. any suggestions??

Are you running under Win7 and getting "access denied"?

no im running vista. It seems i am not the only one with this issue, there are two others further up the page that have the same situation. so perhaps not such a newb question after all.

I don't know Vista but I think it has the "Adminstrator" actions? If its anything like Win7 with the higher security settings, I had to 'dial down the sensivity' and run as Admin. for program installations and simpler file-functions too. Clutching straws. Not being able to save in notepad or wordpad is what caught my eye, since others are using them.

Ta for the advice but i tried that one already, am already running as an administrator and thought that the silly security settings may be the problem but alas even turning them off totally does nothing to stop the save error.

I'm at a loss. Since wordpad and notepad are involved in this, I would try Microsoft's Tech support for Vista surrounding the 'save' issue with those programs and see what they say. Might be a waste of time but then again you may discover the conflict. Good Luck

I have a question
I remember at some point, you could type in a command to remove skills, because sometimes you're trying to go a certain path with a skill...and the level up won't give you the option to even ever get that(cause you can't pass on getting a skill level up)
And most of all, most inconveniently, even on some of the new ToF maps or HoF, there is not always a memory mentor, to get rid of the skills you never wanted.
Say if you wanted to get Howl of Terror, the absolute necromancer feat, but...you have to get very specific abilities, and when you levelup, sometimes it won't let you select these! You HAVE to select something else.
Rather frustrating, is there any way to use the console to remove skills?
