Heroes who start with skills you will pick anyway regardless of the frequency you will see the skill are good. Specialties in this game come in 2 shapes and sizes.. Type 1) Overpowered AKA Deleb Type 2) Awful aka Narxes.. Wether the special is good or not is not a main concern with a hero. I assure you that if deleb were to start with her iron maiden specialty and hmm lets say.. summoning magic she would be awful, you'd still be able to creep that little bit faster but when it comes down to it you have a completely useless skill slot.
As for the ATB bar, in Jhoras case elvin is 100% correct. If you want to get ahead on that atb bar MORE frequently than another hero, Jhora is the one to take, theres no argument here. Random or not, Jhora will act before a unit with init 12 more time in a game than any other hero in the game will.. right or wrong? Is this specialty awe inspiring or over powered? Of course not, and thank god it isn't.
This was actually a really good post!  I especially like the last part, because it emphasizes what most people tend to overlook: Hero specialities should not be game-breaking, they should just be something that gives you a slight boost in one area which you like to specialize in!

I would disagree there...
When I got my ass handed over to me on a plate when facing that Sylvan Hero, I had Jhora. Sylvan hero had might skills, no sorcery.
Both heroes around level 20.
And even so there was no or HARDLY any difference between hero turns during combat.

You didn't pay attention to what destro said. Not between turns but in the first round. The specialty helps you play first, not overwhelm your opponent with fast casting.
Yep she's one of my favourites as well

the best thing about her is that she starts with sorcery and eldritch arrow, not her overestimated and poor special. But again, Nur has it too, and she has a way better special, so.. >_>

i was thinking also about Havez, but i just don`t like him as a main hero ;p

Means little. Who wins in a battle depends mainly on army, and the thinking / strategic abilities of the player. As alcibiades said, the special is that important (except for deleb who needs to be nerfed... after all they nerfed MotW, teleport, puppet master, academy's heavy hitters...)

The best academy hero imo is Havez hands down.
But, I like to creep with war machines and I prefer to go the more controlling machinist type build. In which case Havez is a perfect hero.
Nur is also an amazing hero no question.

Can't agree with you on these. Puppet master is no longer dispelled when the unit is hit, that's a huge improvement. And I can't imagine what you mean by academy's heavy hitters? Example?

absolutely agree. Havez + flaming arrows + artificed mass gremlins = incredible earlygame power. Almost unbeatable. Ofc it's hard to reach flaming arrows fast, but if you're lucky..
Nur on the other hand takes creeping with magic to another level. As you already know ;p

So you choose Jhora just to get the first hero turn??... is there much difference if you get your hero turn like, a few ATB bar turns later...?

If Jhora plays before certain units or even the enemy hero she can cast a puppet master or cast a protection magic that can make all the difference. She won't really gain much time during turns but every little bit helps
