Don't know about you all-knowing old wise mans, If I can find original game I'll be able maybe, I found the problem but I still can't mod it, its just pak errors, the game work well but I can't open the .xdb files.

If you can mode, well mod it, I cant. I can edit the demo files but not this 3.0 scripts.

You really think, that this is the problem of the second GotP team? The first one fell apart, because everyone leaved, why? Because everyone have real life, like EK, he leaved just hmm he disappeared like 4 months ago, and he is still offline, I hope, then there is nothing bad with him and he will return, EK was great mod maker, then all other team members disappeared, I was the last one, and you know what? I can say that 90% of the old mod was my creation, and the other 5% were never released. Then I disappeared after ironic incident, and don't HCM me with snows, I still use walking stick.

There were "todo" list, at least for the old team there were todo for every now version, like Todo 0.3, 0.4, etc...

The new team is not like the old one this is what i can say for end of this post, its not serious... I can't mod because of errors, Kronos is not that active, EK is not here anymore, Radar... I think he left the moding business, poster doesn't really expect something new now.

Yes this can be fixed... but not like this.

Here are the real problems:

- No active team members.
- The out team persons know to much about the team, and the mod problems, if everything was like in the old team all this post will be secret.
- No new testers and active for the old MOD versions.
- Kronos as I know just as me, he have problems with the game, he posted it somewhere.
- To much all-knowing guys
- This project is democracy in the last months, this is wrong!

So yes the project can't die so easy... but everything here must be fixed. Especially the last one.

Wait for feedback soon, I'll take the control as "GotP master", as it was before, at least for some weeks, there is no organization here. Since I can't mode now I'll do some organization, till I get new game copy.

Radar, he was modding one day, he modded to much, the game wouldn't work, he reistalled and lost all of his modding work, 2nd upgrades and conflux, plus the 2nd upgrades died so long ago now, it was mainly popular thanks to GotP, but then when TotE was announced and alternative upgrades was made an issue, the point of 2nd upgrades was kind of...... gone

@vokial: Elite: left and he said he doesnt do modding anymore for reasons unknown
Radar: since he lost the data that kind of made him forget about modding for good, i asked if he wanted to come back once, same for Elite, but they said, "no time, but maybe one day"
about other main members: hey i'm still around, Cepheous is a great modder, we've got some new map makers and kronos is still active, just not too much, i think his computer is still broken, and he'll play TotE first before anything else, he'll come back

waht we really need is more new modders, some ones like GL and guarder and Daystar, who have made mods and things for Heroes 5, they can improve the timing of the release for the final 1.0 GotP,and maybe even ToK too,

So I don't exist?  Fine, I'll tell you exactly what I'm doing.  I am making a skin for Yog the Barbarian and am waiting on a kickass hero portrait from an artist at CH.  I'm also writing lengthy hero and creature biographies, and working on a few basic concepts for an interdimensional faction.  Kronos's computer blew up which is why he's offline, but he'll be back in a matter of days, so don't jump to conclusions please.

Whuh?  Don't get ya.  While we do need some sort of closed forum to discuss problems, plans and developments, secrecy isn't my thing anyway.

Mainly his problem was the fact that his computer died on him, not whatever modding difficulties he may or may not have.

In all honesty... I don't like when control and mastery comes into the equation.  Leadership of course is a different matter entirely.

The new UserMODs/ folder is tricky, I agree, and I'm still investigating this issue.


On a positive note, the UserMODs/ folder actually works as well. Files need to have the .h5u extension to be loaded by the game.

So here are the places to add user content and the extension to be used (note that all files are actually zip archives, but you know that):
- UserMODs/ (.h5u) - for mods
- Maps/ (.h5m) - for maps
- UserCampaigns/ (.h5c) - for campaigns
- DuelPresets/ (.h5p) - for duel presets

Considering that, I strongly advise NOT to use a .pak file inside data/, as there are enough ways to avoid mixing with original game data.

Of course, you can put a mod as .h5u in UserMODs/ or as .h5m in Maps/, it will work the same, so it's just a matter of personal preference and organization. My advice here is to follow this rationale:
- use Maps/ (.h5m) for content that does not risk to provoke conflicts (usually maps do not conflict with existing content)
- use UserMODs/ (.h5u) for content replacing game data. This should make for easier resolution in case of a conflict.

Personally, I work exactly as before. No changes.
Note that I never edit directly inside the archive: I extract the data I work on, edit it, and then create the mod.
Maybe you changed something in your winrar version?

But what I don't get is all this Modding is impossible stuff, of course we cannot edit the exe yet, but modding should be possible the way Sfidanza said.

Eh, Sfidanza I don't have problem with "how to put the mod" I have problem with editing when I try to edit winrar get error, when I try to extract it get error, but when I try to edit or extract hof files or tote demo files it work fine just as before.

Reinstalling winrar or TotE can't help.

What version of WinRAR are you using? I extracted all files from the data.pak file just fine with version 3.61.

hey all three of use are online, we should however, with Vokails permission, carry on like this

1. Vokial / Kronos finish the next patch (0.6 or something)
2. you give it to 5 or so people for a week, to find all the obvious and major bugs that need to be scrapped
3. we then fix whatever needs to be fixed, and then give to the public

that way our 0.5 and 0.51 sceniro never happens again, happy?

Well we could try such a thing, but I'm trying to move up to TotE with succes, but I'll have to modify nearly everything.

Maybe we should just scrap the Renegades idea altogether, after all the story won't allow it (for reasons I won't write here) and they already appear in TotE.  I have a different idea - with hero models, the flag colour changes depending on the player in control.  Is it possible to do the same with creatures?  I think it'd be a pretty nice innovation to have blue peasants with the blue player, green peasants with the green player etc.  I'd make the textures of course, save you guys some work.  Anyone with me?

EDIT:  Oh yeah, I wrote a bio for Alamar a few minutes ago, see what you think of it.

Said to have been named after a wise and noble king from a world beyond, Alamar is an ageless magician often regarded as the mightiest Warlock ever born.  Once the leader of the Enrothian Warlock Guild based in Castle Kriegspire, Alamar was handily overthrown by King Morglin Ironfist in the first Succession War and, after many failed plots to regain his former holdings, travelled to Nighon and briefly served in the armies of the Dragon Queen, Mutare.  Since the old world's destruction, Alamar has attempted to revive the Warlock sects, for better or for worse.  His talents in the field of magic are matched only by his guile and cunning.

@Cepheus: Cutting out Sanctum would change GotP entirely, we need to get Vokial's judgement. I don't know if it's possible to change Creatures along with the Player's colour, but keep in mind if it works it requires OVER 900 TEXTURE FILES!!!!!

@Sfidanza: I'm unfamiliar with WinRar, but I use AlZip and everything works fine.
