I always go outside

Wanna see (and hear) a storm?

This was my senior year in high school. I wasn't in this tornado, it was the next town over. We were sitting in the parking lot (about 10km away) waiting for the other team to show up for a soccer game. The sky turned yellow/green and we got some hail and a little rain, but that's it.

We got tired of waiting and thought the other team was a bunch of pussies if they were afraid of a little rain. We finally left. Just as I turned onto the main road there were suddenly sirens everywhere. I was like, wtf is going on???? I turned on the radio and heard that a tornado just hit Xenia.

The next day we were allowed to take the day off school if we wanted to go help in Xenia. Me and a few other guys went together and helped for 3-4 days. Hundreds of houses and other buildings completely disappeared - I mean NOTHING left, not even rubble. Their high school was completely gone. So we shared out school with them for the rest of the year.

The only places we could really help were at the edges of the tornado. We helped people carry what was left from their houses. These were mostly houses that had all the windows broken or lost a roof, so everything inside was ruined by water.

At our age we were probably a little insensitive. We were there to help, but I don't think we truely understood what these people had gone through - that these people had just lost everything and the few things we carried to their car were their only possessions.

Here's an audio only recording. It's strongly reccomended to use headphones. Don't crank this too loud because it gets much louder at the end. It ends abruptly for obvious reasons.

Here's a short video taken by a 16 year old student with an 8mm projector. Again, headphones are strongly suggested.

For some REAL action, try it in a little 1 person tent sometime
From movies to this ? .....

Well discussions, or should I say life, has a tendency to turn in an un-expected direction...

What about For some REAL action, try watching Arsenic and old Lace IN a little 1 person tent sometime ? - I'd like that, in fact it's going to be my next goal here in life.

You know, you could concievably watch the film, in a tent during a thunderstorm.

Then you'd have the best of everything, but wouldn't it be a lot more fun to watch with friends? (be wary of anyone offering homemade wine though)

I wonder what other things could be fun to do in a tent during a storm?

This might take further investigation. But just remember that it's a very small tent and you can't touch the sides when it's raining.

Ooooo, I knew there must be something fun to do. But won't it be a little crowded for such activities? No touching, remember?

I'm double posting. In fact, I'm double posting after spamming. i should be demodded or something. *whispers to Bini, don't tell Valeriy about this either*

I have a storm story! Its a weird one though, because I don't believe it myself and it's about me When I was 17 or 18, I was at a staff party at my bosses house, and there was a big storm going on outside. Big to the extent that car alarms were being set off all around us, I suppose from falling branches, or maybe just proximity to lightning. But anyways, we were all having some drinks and fun - and back then I smoked, but smoking wasn't allowed indoors. The boss's upstairs TV room had a patio where we were allowed to smoke, so me and 3 other people went out for a smoke.

Midway through the cigarette I went from the middle of the deck, to the far edge of the deck - and I honestly don't know what happened. The smell in the air was just disgusting, and where I had been previously was scorched, there was a rather large blackish mark on the ground. Now they say that I was hit by lightning, I don't actually buy it. I don't think that can happen to you, and you remain unharmed - I did have the shakes for a few hours after that though LOL I figure it was probably close enuogh that the energy pushed me back or something, I really don't know, but I was called lightning legs, and people sang "greased lightning' at me  a whole long time.

I'm having deja vu now, and wondering if I've actually written this before somewhere, if i did and you're reading this for the second time, sorry to bore you

Ohh, I wasn't double posting then, perhaps I am now

Hmm... no touching the boobin you mean? I've not known all that many men who prefer not to touch boobin when they have the opportunity...

So how small is the tent then, if we're going to come up with some fun non contact activity in a very tiny place I'll need dimensions.

If you're not writing it for the second (or third or fourth) time, then you should be. In the game of one-upmanship, it's hard to beat getting hit by lightning.

People get hit by lightning all the time and survive. There's even a video at Youtube showing a guy who got hit VERY close to him (like 10-20cm away). I saw a guy on TV who held the world record for getting hit the most times - it was a long time ago so I forget how many, but I seem to remember 11 times.

Its funny, because at first I was really really embarrased by it lol I can't actually explain why, but it was the big "tell the story!" thing at parties, and everyone would tell it, after a while I think it went that I was thrown 50 feet and I can shoot lightning out my fingertips now

At the time though, I was really just so shaken, and honestly don't have any real memory of what may have happened, so having them say I was hit by lightning made me feel like a freak. Plus from my end its a boring story, one second I was smoking, next I was across the deck and had dropped my smoke... if I were religious I'd have thought that God was telling me to quit heheh

I can't imagine how terrified of lightning a person would be if they'd been struck multiple times... lol Plus I bet they feel really irritated when people use the expression "lightning never strikes twice"

Yea, I could see that. Everyone expecting you to tell the lightning story all the time could get old and embarrasing.

I'm sure I could think of a good lightning joke about now, but you've probably heard all of them before also.

I saw the guy who held the record on Johnny Carson. He was a real character who had Johnny LHAO. He was this old farmer who loved telling stories. He'd hold up his hat with 2-3 holes in it "the first time I was out plowing the field....". I was ROTFL watching that old coot.

This thread is turning into an absolutely disgrace, talking about tents....well look at it, tents for crying out loud... not forgetting the one that really pissed me, and my intire family off ....car alarms well it may be a minor thing to you lot, but here where I come from tents and car alarms is ..well I may be out on a limb here, almost religion. And that is not something one should take (s)lightly ...well

I loved when Johnny had guests like that, I'm always way more entertained by people who seem to be genuinely having a great time doing what they do, Johnny was wonderful for that - you didn't even have to get the jokes sometimes, just watching him laugh was enough to start you off Dave Letterman is great for that too, sometimes he can't even speak he's laughing about something so much .. then later in the show he'll crack up again because he just remembered it lol

*edited*

I wonder... if you put a car alarm in a tent, would it still be a car alarm, or would it then become a tent alarm? food for thought....

I guess I missed your other post.

<<Hmm... no touching the boobin you mean?>

The trick is to only touch what you are allowed to touch, and nothing else. There are all kinds of possibilities, but the sides of the tent are completely off limits. So you have to be very very careful and move slowly.

Is it me, or are there getting to be way too many Chuck Norris references?  As in even one is too many.  Heck, even this post has one too many references...but anyhow.  Now though it will probably just make things worse...here is some things to consider.

1) He trained under Bruce Lee, but a master never teaches a student ALL his tricks.  Bruce Lee, if alive would be a better fighter.  Period.

2) Though a certain somebody is good (I'll give you that), I assure you he is not god-like.

3) What is so fascinating about you know who?  Might as well bring up JCVD (*shivers*).

Anyhow, enough of this.  Getting bad flashbacks...*shivers*.  Could be worse, could be the "All your base are belong to us" crowd.
