For directional attacks on stacks, I would say first you press the stylus on the stack you're attacking, then on the hex you want to attack from. Easier and works better, will avoid problems.

Well, it'd certainly be easier for ordering your creatures to attack, and controlling/viewing the battle in general, wouldn't it?

@Swamp Lord - Hmmm... Well, to incorporate ur idea, maybe the Homm III-like battlefield could be down there, but the Homm V graphics at the top. How about that? You draw the paths and order attacks from the bottom, but see the major action at the top. Will that solve the problem?

Well, since there are multiple squares to attack from, that lets you show witch angle you want to attack from.

Erm...DS Download Play? Or Mult-Card Link? It might take longer to link or DL than other games, but still. Which brings up another issue. How will DL Play work? Will they always be haven? Or will they be able to pick like Duel Preset? The game holder will be able to construct his own army or save a template from the game. Any other Thoughts?
EDIT: Oh I see where you were going. Playing on the same DS. Two options: Not Possible, or turn the stylus over when its his/her unit's/s' turn.

Hot seat or multi card
It might be easier just to link up with multi-card. Download play could be very difficult to incorporate. there would be a memory issue youd never be able to overcome.
as far as multi card goes that would be easy to bring into the mix it would be just like networking your comps. you can view town and hero stats you just cant take any actions when your waiting for your opponent to complete his turn.
Hot seat can be tricky theres the issue of memory (how many people can play at once when using a DS card. how large can the maps really be? how many can be saved on one card? how many creatures and artifacts what about random map generation? I imagine those will be a few of the many issues multiplayer will run into as far as memeory goes) then theres the screen and stylus sharing issue, the battle issue when it comes down to human vs human. but all of which can be overcome.
I think the human vs human might not be so hard everything is turned based anyway it aughta be able to swap and you should definitely know whos turn it is you just have to put up with handing the system back and forth for every move. (but whatching your opponent or what he's doing would be dang hard, both crammin your heads in the same spot to make sure your watchin the battle lol.)

You bring up very impressive points. I suggest that download play is simply duel battles. One template against the other. Multi-card will work nicely, though.

i think that, with download play, you can play the demo of h3 like it is on the pc, or you can duel like in h5.
i thought you meant something different with hotseat, mamgaeate , but it isnt very handy...
multicard plays will ofcourse exist, wifi too, and one card plays: i have explained above.

isabelyes i think what is most important will be a something that makes a loud noise or flash so when playing hotseat you don't move your opponents creatures.
ds has lots of capabilities.
i do beleive that heroes 3 is graphically possible.
(offtopic:from what i hear (magazine) nintendo is designing a new ds)
