Now that Ivan has a new pokemon, they look for a nice place for training. Ivan training his lowest-level pokemon, Stacey 'training' Sandshrew. Mona standing by, just in case.

Stacey:

You find a spot to train and Ivan calls out his new Sentret ((level 17 BTW)). The Normal type's fur bristles and she growls at you both; apparently Ivan is going to have to win her loyalty before she'll listen.

((How long do you want to try to train for?))

Mark picked up his bag and gave Mina two thumbs up. "I'm chipper and ready to go!"

Tomas had changed into a tan T-shirt and blue jeans. "Yeah, whatever."

Mark and Mina:

"Off we go then."

The three of you spend about half-an-hour looking for a way up the cliff face. It ends up being a harrowing trip almost straight up, but you all make it to the top without more than a few scrapes and bruises.

Once returned to level ground, Mina charts a course roughly due south: this close to the coast it's fairly green with some cover, but you're near enough to Ternai to see Murkrow circling over the town, no doubt looking for something to scavenge after the battle the previous evening.

((Encounter roll = 31, 64, 38))

The trio sees a few Bandra patrols at a distance (and has one very close call near Ternai) but is able to avoid notice.

It's about 6PM when Mina calls a halt and finds some level ground for everyone to sit on. She's been getting steadily paler as the day goes by.

"Okay, according to the map we're about halfway between Rieva and Skybreak. Where are we headed?"

Stacey:

((Reminder that Shadow Pokemon don't get their accumulated XP until you de-Shadow them. You can still try to train him, he just isn't going to get the level up right away on a success.))

((Sandshrew's Obediance roll = 62 – Fail))
((Roll = 83))

After a few attempts to train Sandshrew he seems to get annoyed and attacks you, but Mona is able to hit him with Sleep Powder before he can connect. He wakes up a little while later and you keep up the effort, but an hour after you began he doesn't seem to have made any progress. On the bright side, the Pokedex registers that his Shadow Gauge is a little lower. ((-5%, now at 81%))

((Sentret's Obediance roll = 37 – Success!))

Ivan has a little more luck with his Sentret, probably because she's just recalcitrant rather than Shadowed. She's made a little bit of progress completing the task he set her, and after an hour the Pokedex informs Ivan that she's leveled up. She's still giving both of you distrusting looks, but Mona's presence seems to dissuade her from bolting. ((+1 level))

((Sandshrew's Obediance roll = 63 – Fail))
((Roll = 90))

Sandshrew gets distracted by a hole in the ground and ignores you in favor of trying to dig into it—with his back feet, which while making it difficult for him to actually make progress lets him snap at you when you come close. You still can't get him to listen long enough to train. ((Shadow Gauge now at 76%))

((Sentret's Obediance roll = 53 – Success!))

Ivan manages to get a little more practice into Sentret. The Normal type seems to be getting bored, but apparently doesn't find any reason not to listen for now.

((Sandshrew's Obediance roll = 28 – Success!))
((Roll = 79))

You finally manage to get Sandshrew's attention long enough to train him. He doesn't seem to be any stronger after an hour but you're hopeful that the training has done some good. ((Shadow Gauge now at 71%, +1 level when you get Sandshrew de-Shadowed.))

((Sentret's Obediance roll = 100 – Fail))

Sentret on the other hand has apparently had enough, and won't cooperate. Ivan congratulates her on her progress anyway, and her expression is mingled wariness and disgust at making this human happy.

Both Pokemon seem to be at their limit for exercise today.

((It is now about 2 PM, BTW.))

----------------

Mark and Mina:

"I've been worse." Which was technically true; she was still conscious after all. But for honesty's sake she added, "It's just a bad scrape I got in Slashpeak; I need some disinfectant and some new bandages for it. Nothing to do about it here."

Mark came closer, still concerned. "Let me see that map." He told Mina, looking over the other trainer's shoulder. "He checked the map for the closest town (Besides the ones that they know are taken over. ) and said, "We should go there and get you some medicine before we do anything else." He didn't know the name of the town, and hadn't looked close enough to learn it either...

"Okay grunts, here is the plan:" Christian pointed at the grunt he had seen in the pokémart earlier "You, if you have not already been up there, you will pretend to follow the advice you got at the pokémart and go to the pokéball shop up the hill. There you will look around and act like you will buy something." Christian looked at the other grunts "Does anyone have a flying pokémon?"

((if a grunt has one))

"Send it out and have it fly above the shop, once we are all ready, have it cry as loudly as it can. This will be signal to start the attack.

((if no one has a flying pokémon))

"Alright, then the signal you will all be waiting for is a magnitude from my geodude."

((Moving on))

"You two will approach the shop from the two sides while I will come up from behind. Once in position, the signal will go off. At this point I will knock in the backdoor, you will attack Mr. Blakes within the shop and you two will make your entry as you see fit. I am not sure how many pokémon Mr. Blakes has, but I do know one of them is a torkoal." Chritian paused for a moment before continuing "We are 4on1, so I expect this to go quite quickly and cleanly. Once we have Mr. Blakes in custody we will quickly get back to the jeep and head back to HQ." Christian stood up and looked at the grunts "Does anyone have a question?"

((If no question, auto me to the back of the shop))

Stacey:

You make your way to the town, arriving within sight of it about 4:30 PM. Ivan presses on alone, still wearing the Bandra uniform.

A minute or two later Ivan is pelting back, and you hear shouting from the town. A handful of trainers are chasing after him, none of whom are in Bandra uniforms.

----------------

Christian:

"Does anyone have a flying pokémon?"

"Got a Spearow," Brig volunteers somewhat reluctantly.

"It's not a Flying type, Off, but I got a Wispaferyn that can float," Conner ((the Grunt who was in the Mart)) chimes in.

((Let me know which one you want to use.))

The Grunts listen intently to your plan, nodding and fidgeting throughout.

"Does anyone have a question?"

"Yeah uh, did you want us to wait 'til dark?"

((It's ~3 PM BTW.))

Mina nods. "Okay. Let's go."

It's about 8 PM as the trio arrives. Mina has had to stop and sit down several times during the last leg, and is leaning heavily on the door frame when you finally arrive. She is escorted to a ward almost immediately, and Tomas spots a few Starlight Squad members nearby who have presumably made it here from Ternai and goes over to chat.

Mark knew that he couldn't do anything else, and so he instead went of to be a tourist. New town, new people, new experiences! Something that he would put in his journal... oh yeah, his journal... he would update that tonight. Probably wouldn't get more than one picture done, but he could save those for another day anyway.

So off Mark went, looking first for any place that might be interesting and then for a nice open field to train.

Christian nods "The Spearrow will do. Have it fly above the house and cry out when we all are in position. But be warned, I will still have my geodude use magnitude on the house."

"Yeah uh, did you want us to wait 'til dark?"

Christian nods again "Good idea, yeah, let's wait til evening at least. It needs to be during opening hours for the shop..." Christian looks at the grunt who's job would be to go into the shop "Well, if the shop is closed and you don't get into the shop, then keep knocking on the door until the attack starts. Make your way into the house as you see fit after that." Christian looks at the grunts "Let's meet up back here at 8 PM. If anyone has any new ideas at that point, feel free to tell me. Dismissed."
Christian was about to turn away and leave when he remembered something "Ohh yeah, and Rob, if you don't want it, I would not mind having that mining kit."

After dismissing the grunts Christian headed back into the town, to the pokécentre specifically. There, he asked the nurse whether or not there were any trainers in town he could battle.

The Sweet Scent gives you a little more of a head start, but isn't quite sufficient to lose your pursuers.

----------------

Mark:

((Maroon: Inn/restaurant
White: Pokemon Center
Gray: Herb shop

If Mark goes for a closer look he will find that the boxy shapes behind the herb shop are Combee hives.))

It proves to be a small town and there isn't much to see. This late at night, the herb shop is closed, but the inn/restaurant is open and a few people are seated inside. ((Sadly Stacey and Ivan got here about four hours before you did, or you could have seen Ivan getting chased out of town. )) You also learn from passerby that this is the town of Rieva.

You complete your tour of the settlement at about 8:30PM and find a private spot to train.

((How long do you train for?))

----------------

Christian:

((You're currently reaping the benefits of being an Officer who's actually approachable—if Kerry or Tenma had asked, all they would have gotten was a 'no sir!'))

The Grunts salute and break off.

"Ohh yeah, and Rob, if you don't want it, I would not mind having that mining kit."

Rob turns back with a grin and hands it to you. "Here ya go New Kid; have fun with it."

You reach the Pokemon Center without trouble and ask the nurse about trainers.

"You can usually find someone fishing by the pond," she tells you. "Or you could try the Village Hall; there was supposed to be a gathering this afternoon."

Without having much option, outside of calling out Raticate to give one of the trainers a scary face, Stacey and Ivan continue their running, trying to find somewhere to lose their pursuers. If they get a good distance away, and still have them following, Stacey will attempt seeing if Sandshrew would help by using sand attack.
