Mina eyed her opponent with no small amount of confusion. She was too far away to hear the snores.
What…what is he doing?
Mina pushed aside her confusion to watch the crowd file in, trying hard not to think about the number of people who would be watching. She waved nervously to her friends in the stands while she waited, then looked to the referee for the signal to begin.
When the signal was given, she grabbed a Pokeball off her belt and threw it into the arena.
“Houndour, I choose you!”

Christan heard the signal for the battle to start and the sound of a pokémon coming out of the pokéball and looked up and saw the houndour. Christian stood up slowely and yawned "I guess this means we have started" he said quite tired. He streched his body for a little while before he took a good look at houndour and thought "Hmm...Houndour...isn't that a fire and dark pokémon? Let me see... fire is weak against water, and dark is weak against bug. I never though I was gonna like the fact that the kid was using bug pokémons." he took out a pokéball...
"Surskit go! Raindance!"

He was ASLEEP?!!
Mina watched with some confusion as the boy Christian stretched and yawned.
What kind of Bandra agent falls asleep right before a match???
She watched without surprise as his Surskit materialized on the field and Christian called for Raindance.
“Gotta go for the overkill…” Mina murmured to herself. Houndour’s ears flicked back and he yelped, questioningly. “Nothing, never mind. Use Bite!”

Houndour goes first.

Surskit uses Rain Dance!
It started raining!
Fate, Dove and the others gathered around the arena to watch the battle.
Upon seeing the ferocious Bite, Dove remarked:
"I don't think that Surskit is going to last long enough out there to attack."
Fate nodded in agreement as they looked on...
Surskit's Condition: HP: 16/41

Christian though "Let me see, Surskit's speed is increased in the rain but is it enough? Well, anyway, if Houndour misses Surskit will deal some massive damage... It's either me or her then."

Drat, Mina reflected absently. That Bug’s slower than I expected. If I had started out with Onix, this round would have been mine easily.
She observed Houndour thoughtfully. The rain was obviously speeding Surskit along; no way could her pup out-speed the thing a second time. They needed to draw this out a few rounds, and Mina guessed switching out to Poliwag right now would only hurt her chances.
Mentally steeling herself against a call she wasn’t sure wasn’t a mistake, Mina called out, “Houndour, defend!”
Hang in there, my little dog…

The Rain Dance causes the Surskit to take the initiative this round, and it attacks.
Houndour takes a defensive stance!
Surskit uses Bubblebeam!
Houndour is hit for 34 points of damage!
It's super effective!

Mina was starting to feel nervously ill, now.
Calm down, calm down, it’s not over yet…
Or was it?
…no time to think about it now. Houndour didn’t seem to have used his Berry, and she doubted it would make a difference even if he did. Through the rush of adrenaline, she tried furiously to think of another way out of this; her little dog was suffering, and she wanted it to stop.
…maybe… A thought finally came together through the roar of her own blood and pounding heart, a little rough around the edges, but perhaps workable. …I’ll try it…
“Houndour return! Poliwag! Your turn!” Good thing Water types are resistant to themselves…
Mina’s gaze hardened as it landed on Surskit.
And at the same time, too bad.

Christian couldn't help but smile "Excellent choise of action" he said "I would probally have done the same in your posision. Guess I got to say goodbye to surkit then...a shame really..." Christian took fourth his pokéball and said
"Surskit return."
He threw out a new pokéball and out of it came Scyther.

Mina looked Scyther up and down.
Drat…if I call Poliwag back, he’ll just have Scyther use Pursuit…but if I have Poliwag attack, I don’t know if she can take a hit from Scyther. On the other hand, her Water Gun is getting a free boost thanks to Surskit…she’s fast…but is she fast enough…?
I just don’t know...

Christian studied both the opponets pokémon and the opponent herself. He sat down in a meditating pose and started thinking "This is a hard one indeed, fortunatlly Poliwag cannot be recalled, as I use pursuit...but..." Christan looked at the situasion and then couldn't help but laugh. He pointed at his opponent and said "Don't confuse my mind! It's hard enough to think as it is if your not to start thinking aswell! Now I was locked in a "She thinks that I think that she thinks" thing!" Christian took his arm back and saw that his opponent was ready to issue an order, but so was he.
"There is no advantage for me so I'll just use my best shot! Scyther-"

She glanced up distractedly, then suddenly smiled.
It’s time.
“Poliwag return!” she unclipped the ball with the long scratch over the top hemisphere and threw it into the arena. “Onix, I choose you!”

“Sorry Poliwag,” Mina addressed the paint-chipped Pokeball mournfully. “I thought it had to be done.”
She was feeling more than a little guilty at getting her rental pummeled. On top of that, she realized they were too far behind now to make up the gap, so she couldn’t even tell herself the tactic was justified. Unfortunately there was nothing she could do about it.
Her final rental towered over the field, the newly-restored sunlight casting an Onix-shaped shadow on the arena floor like a giant, living sundial.
Now the question is, what is Christian going to do with Scyther?
…doesn’t matter, she realized with sudden, jarring clarity, He's too far ahead. Drat it!
She was starting to shake from nerves; steeling herself, she cried out, “Onix, use—”

((You know, I was actually thinking that I was screwed after last round we're both thinking negative ))
Christian looked up at the sun as the raining stopped "Drat!" he exclaimed "There goes that idea..." he sat down and started thinking "This is not a favorable match up... all Onix need to do is use a rock move and hit and scyther will take some serious damage! And then we have scythers moveset... damn it! I got only one move which will deal damage and which is not affected by the match up. Well here goes nothing."
Christian looked at his opponent and said "You know, for first time in this tournament I'm faced with an opponent that actually has half a brain! Even the guy who cheated by bringing a steelix in didn't have any skills in battle to beat me, heck, he didn't even do serious damage! I'm kinda dissapointed to wait for the final battle before a real oppent shows up..." The Christian added in his mind "One which I fear I will lose against..."

Mina experienced the familiar sensation of her brain jamming. The Bandra agent in the tournament…it wasn’t you…Dove and Fate were right…
It could have been an elaborate charade, but she didn’t think so. The comment hadn’t been phrased like he was trying to convince her, or even that he knew she’d suspected him in the first place. It was just an off-hand comment. And it made so much sense—the kid didn’t act like a Bandra agent because he wasn’t a Bandra agent (although in retrospect, the lack of taunts and ‘rawr, I will crush you!’ dialogue should have given it away…)
She wanted to apologize, but couldn’t bring herself to do it in the midst of a huge crowd when he probably wouldn’t even know what she was apologizing for.
“Thanks,” she choked awkwardly instead.
At least when I lose, it won’t be to a Bandra scumbag…

"Huh? Thanks? Thanks for what? Saying that you have half a brain? What's that to thank me for?" Christian said. Then he started thinking about what's gonna come after the battle "That guy... said he was Fate, but I ain't sure before I get real proff that he is Fate. Could just as well be an impostor. Besides the bandages the guy back at the pokémon center didn't strike me as a "Fate" or as a very good pokémon trainer." after thinking about it for awhile Christian drove it from his mind and started focusing at the matter at hand. "What was that thanks for?!" was a final though that struck Christan.
