You know Otoyomegatari has nothing to do with Turk, right? It's set in central asia, not middle east.

Wha... isn't the plot set in the ottoman empire? I'm pretty sure it is.

And you should read my edit the other page, not gonna comment on animes/manga before I finish them from now on. That was a very nice recommend and I totally doubted you, gomen'nasai!

Please link!

I thought about it more last night after I went to bed, and I gotta say that there are some things that bother me. Like the fact that this anime (but not only this, many other in fact) focuses a lot on romance to the extent that there isn't anything else. Like family life, other friends, school/work, something to dissipate their stress. Like, I haven't see one adult assuming a secondary role at least, or something, to keep an eye on things. They were horny adolescents humping each other whenever and wherever with no one around, quite the convenient environment.

And I can't picture real females falling for a guy like that. He had nothing special, he was ordinary. And even more than that he was a complete jerk and totally insecure. I thought many times during that anime that if I were there instead of those girls, I would've broken up with him long time ago. Especially if I were Kotonoha. Like really, that girl was a jewel, I'd kill to have such a girlfriend, and he was a swine with her. Freakin' snow.

Meh, things could've been sorted out differently if someone would've had the ballz to say "Enough! This has to stop" at the right moment.

Gonna finish Otoyomegatari next, then... I dunno.

You really don't want to read that, it's full of idiots shouting at each other.
Kind of like OSM.

Yeah, the episodes are so short they don't have time to show much else than the immediate theme they choose. 13/24 episodes of 20 minutes each is a lot less than your typical series of 26 episodes of 40 minutes.

Girls go for jerks and he got over his insecurity. Deal with it. Kotonoha wasn't quite normal as you might have noticed by the end. But yeah, you're supposed to hate Makoto ^^

And I was like...

Now I'm watching Highschool DxD... Interesting train of thought, never would've imagined that searching through Attack on Titan memes would get me to watch this anime. The amount of ecchi is so over the top that It's starting to hurt, literally (if you know what I mean). Don't be hasty to judge, I'm not like that at all...

Edit: Gonna call it at ep 2, can't take this any more

Edit 2: ..... I watched the whole thing... even season 2...
Not as bad as I thought it would be. I like some ecchi now and then but this was almost a hentai. Plot was... since I'm a Christian I won't even comment on that... maybe only 1 word, silly!

So..... now what. Should I watch that Alter Memory that Adrius kept talking about?

I've been skimming parts of Canaan lately. Man I love this series. There's so much philosophy hidden beyond the surface. And the world's most awesome Taxi Driver
I have no idea how so awesome series can be so fricking awesome.

If you're going to watch alter memory without any knowledge of blazblue, I think you're going to be left out a lot. Perhaps not worth it.

Highscool DxD is fun. I've read the mangas so I checked the animes too. They're just over the top enough to be entertaining. Too bad they didn't keep in line with the ending of the first season to the second, pole dancing, lol.

If you want something similar Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai is right up the same alley, I haven't watched it though.

"Your antennae are awesome!"

Well, I already watched BlazBlue, and it was awesome
The fact that there wasn't so much explaining was not in it's detriment. On the contrary, it made me feel like I was observing the lives of the characters as they would normally develop in real life. No explaining pauses, though there was one in ep 11, but I guess it was quite needed. So the fact that I had to pay extra attention to every single line uttered was really fun and challenging. And I dunno if I got it completely right but... it's something about an artificially created world with some strange rules, like reversing events if they don't go well until a certain future is achieved. And TEERRUMIIIIII!! and his gang managed to find a breach in it or something like that. And even if I didn't got it right there are still Wikias I can read, but I didn't felt like it.

HighSchool DxD's romance and ecchi is good, but the angles - fallen angels - demons plot is not the best one. This anime could've been a school, drama, fantasy one and it would've been better. But I guess japanese ppl like monsters too much. But overall it was a good anime. I enjoyed the parts with Issei and Akeno a lot, the way she teases him is so over the top. I don't know how that guy can keep his underwear clean...

Currently watching Shuffle! and hoping it'll get more interesting that how it's been up until now (at ep 5).

This is not manga or anime, but cartoons and comics fit this thread best here.

But this, is great. I don't like the cat's voice though. The original comic rocks on it's own too.

So I finished watching Shuffle and it was good 4-4.5/5. I really don't get the point of the Gods - Demons - Human plot. Like really, what were the chances to watch 2 consecutive animes with this plot? Is it a "thiing" to make fun of religions like that? But apart from that the anime was cool. I don't think I have any dislikes when it comes to characters, which is extremely odd, dunno when I became so tolerant. I feel sad for the guy with the glasses, he had much higher potential imo. He wasn't your everyday dumb perv, he actually had brains which was interesting. He could've easily stole the spotlight from Rin-chan if the makers wanted that. Would've been very fun to see him hooking up with the flat-chested girl, that would've made my day

Now, as to which girl I think Rin should've ended with.... Well, sincerely I wanted him to choose Kaede. But I get Asa-sempai being more suitable for him and all that, and Kaede's messing up things in childhood, devoting herself out of a sense of atonement, even though she actually loved him but was hiding it. The other girls are out of the question, although each one was nice in her own way.

Yoshi! Gonna watch Canaan next and see why you're all that hyped about it.

The characters. Nothing but the characters. Okay, perhaps I just like a lot of the philosophy in the series too. And there's some great action. And that taxi driver. Goddamn man that taxi driver.
But it's not that special a series story wise. It does have a good english dub though.

Oh yeah, about which dubs I watch.
That depends, I prefer Finnish dubs if they're of any worth, obviously, being Finnish myself. The Moomins(to be frank the finland's swedish is pretty damn good dub too), Pokemon(which is actually way superior to english dub), Alfred J. Kwak, Lots of Ghiblis etc. Kimagure Orange road because of totally nostalgia only, though it has humour value too.

English/Japanese/German/Swedish dubs depends on their quality, setting of the series and availability. And to some extent nostalgia factor.

Sailormoon is always swedish dub for me. That intro.
Darker than Black is english because Hei sounds so girly in the japanese dub I can't stand it.
I really like the German dub of Haruhi Suzumiya, I have not heard a better Yuki.

I don't particularly like Japanese Dubs that much. The females are snowing annoying in a LOT of them. The fact is that they're almost always professionals though so their quality is often better than the alternatives.

Oh, the German dub for Heroes 5 also makes it a lot more bearable than the horrible english one.

For the worst stuff you've ever heard, go to youtube and write in Agapio. That's the worst dubbing firm in history, dirt cheap, for finnish. RIDICULOUSLY bad. Too bad their worst work has disappeared from youtube. That first version of Digimon episode 1 was so fricking epic. I have faint memory that I've sometime linked it in heroescommunity but it's gone now.

Nope, that's because I'm not into mecha that much. I like those animes that got good drama and revolve around philosophycal issues, like things about the world, existentialism, love, justice, life and death... things like that. For example one thought in Naruto that made me like the series very much was the pursuit of peace, especially the scenes with Nagato - those actually made me cry. There's a phrase that I still remember him saying: "As long as we live in this cursed world, there is no peace", now think about that... isn't that the exact painful truth of this world?... And another theme that made me shed some tears in Naruto was the power of sacrifice, namely Itachi which I consider to be the best char in the anime.

And about Canaan now, the anime was great, it had substance and a lot of drama. The experimenting on that village which went extinct as a result just proved to me how hideous humans can be. Someone will always pursue power or anything else that benefits him/her in the detriment of the welfare of the others. Some even at the cost of lives. There were some parts in the anime which remain unclear to me, but I guess it can't be helped since this is yet another game adaptation. Like that frozen human experiment that looked exactly like Canaan, wasn't there anything more to that?
Plot was good, characters were good and the drama between them was great too. Especially the one involving Canaan and Alphard and the events with Siam, Liang and her idolizing of Alphard, Hakko and Santana and the reporter Mino-san, Maria's friendship with Canaan etc etc. I don't know why you're so hyped for that taxi driver though Joonas, he seemed a bit eccentric to me, but that's about it.

Hope there'll be sequels, or maybe prequels. Story's way too good to end like this. Alphard's still alive and on the move, and the ending scene in ep 13 hinted for a continuation.

I'm thinking of re-watching Haruhi Suzumiya seasons. Just to see what my reactions is now and compare it with the one I had some years ago. Unless there are some other recommends. Mvaas, I'd like some Shingeki no Kyojin-like anime please, if you can think of any
