so....
ur telling me that when i came back as quintar , theblackknight and duhduhduh( i am excluding andi's favorite  ) I consider myself to be a veteran but according to your logic(which doesn't make sense) i am a newbie and can beat up on lower skilled players and not feel bad because i am newbie? Even now as Mad_Unicorn i can be considered a non vet since i have no dragons?( i should have many and a honor badge to boot((yay theblackknight))).
to flammi: the reason why u dont get many games is pretty simple shame u dont realize it.

4 days
away for half a week, and a nice post by JTL turns to a fest for players to rant on each other. Look to yourselves people to see whats wrong with your posting.
of course, it is human nature.
About the veteran issue of flamingo playing as faradey; yes, technically speaking flamingo is right, there was no 'rule' against him playing in cadets under faradey, but such a rule can obviously be implied as common sense.
Hence, working a way around that rule but not breaking it only reflects one thing; that players' obvious lack of honor.

What a shame
Vulture is one of the most honorable people I have ever played.
And the sad thing is I never post anything in the details box with him because I know you, Vesuvius know how cool he is.
I only post there when I play someone, like mad martigan...who I had never played before and I wanted you to know what a cool guy he is.
I do not think you can ever say a player is honorable until you have beaten them.
It is easy to be gracious in victory but I've seen some guys turn nasty upon losing that were nice when they beat me.
And Flamingo I really pity you.
It is one thing to be competitive but your attitude clearly shows why you have been prone to doing WHATEVER IT TAKES to win in the past.
Believe it or not some people PLAY GAMES FOR FUN and after they lose a game they go out and do things in the real world that matter.
Dude this is just a game and if you haven't noticed not too many people are even playing it online. So any accomplishments here don't mean anything.
Being a great father is important to me.
Being a great husband is also.
Making tons of money I like also.
PLaying heroes is a blast and my 17-21 record detracts from that NOT AT ALL.
I bet huma song has got more honor and love for the game in his mouse clicking finger then you could ever comprehend in a million years.
Winning is a blast but when you sit there and edit maps and drop in games, lie about who you are so you can get in a tourney and all that I think you seriously need to get some perspective.

Well, I hate to be the 100th person who agrees to the same thing, but then again it cannot be said often enough.
Yes, even players with a miserable record are worthy of recieving a honor medal. Like said before, being nice when winning is easy; remaining fair when losing shows a good spirit.
Let's not forget why some players have a bad record. It's not ONLY their skill, it's also the fact that you will find a lot of opponents who play one or two maps exclusively. Even a skilled player won't win there unless he knows the map by heart.
I know at least two low-point footmen who definitely would have deserved a medal, too. Let's take Zeak392 for example. He was in the low 900's already when we played Battlemania. He got newbie-killed there several times, so it was the only map he knew a bit. And what happened? He got better arties and I lost the final fight. He should be happy I thought, lots of points gained. But then he offered me NOT to report, because he felt bad cause he got lucky. LOL. Getting lucky on Battlemania. LOL. Now is that honorable or what? Rejecting 40+ points because of bad conscience. Or is he just a loser? Well, I guess most of you know the answer
Too bad he disappeared from the zone lately...
Anyway, the other person I like to mention is East Knight (the artist formerly known as magicwie). Well, he is member of my clan, so I won't sing any laudatios about him - maybe someone else can do that for me

I don't know 4/5 of people who got honor medals. And I mean no offence to them.
To some extent I agree with Flamingo. Actually, more than agreeing I understand him. He just questions the criteria.
I do not understand the criteria for the medals. I know many players who do not need "recommendations" for receiving a medal.
According to the current system, the persons who get more "recommendations" are seen as more "honorable" (again, I mean NO offence to anyone; especially to those medal guys)
I do not think that Vulture is less honorable than any of those guys who received medals. Or Mocara who received his deserved medal is more honorable than most of the honorable players who did not received medals.
PS to Mocara and Vulture: I referred to you two because, I know that you will not be offended by my words :-) And thank you Mocara for your kind words about me :-)

criteria: honor medals
I cannot just pass out honor medals to players because 'I feel like it' or 'I like them' etc.. I pass them out when there are consistent positive comments about them; they are consistently active, and positive to TOH, they have no former record of shame, and so on.
Like in vultures' case, if I were to make a recommendation, I would give him one. Obviously now with all the positive commentary on him, hes getting one on the New Year's batch of honor medal updates.
In homm4 TOH, a significant change in the honor medals will be that there will be no honor medals given out, but a 'Honor Circle' page, which will instead list players who would get an honor medal. Consider it a special hall of fame. This was inspired due to ergonomics mostly, since in homm4 seasons, medals carry over, and eventually there is going to be medal overload for some.

But one nice thing about Honor medals though, is the fact that u can meet a person in zone, and feel pretty sure u will have a good game with him, because the honour medal represent that here is a player who conducts himself.
I just started a game with Wiggy_Wam and Im completely confident we will have it finished eventhough I acciedently told him I had both SoJ and HH
Why am I so sure, when I never played him before?
Well because most of the players who have allready played him, vouched for him in some sense.
Thats why Honor medals are both usefull and well an honor to get.
And yup Moc, plenty of ppl who I believe is also worthy of a medal, hasnt gotten one yet, but Im pretty sure that they will eventually get it.

Ever since I got my honor medal thingy, I get double the ZM's of people who want to play me. But most of them are Naturalist clans, and people wanting to play dw. 
Because of this I sometimes go by an alternate zone identity (but same handle) that some of you already know.
I sometimes find it kinda funny ... sometimes when I play a recruit, they think I'm the biggest cheater and won't let me host. And of course they always complain about me getting in so many battles week 1 ... and tell me to use auto-combat.
to Defreni: if I ever don't want to finish, I forfeit ... but 99% of the time, I don't go down without a fight
