macron, i really don't understand your stance on hota. it's a lot of work to put out this stuff, and especially without getting paid. there are people out there who do work like this, who actually get paid for it, and no one here is asking for money. these guys are doing great work, just like all the other modders out there, and they're sharing their work for free.

They share it for free, yes, but blame those who uses their graphics, in thievery. I cannot afford to tolerate them.
Yes, they drawn a good graphics. That's all they done, at my sight.
As for me, I use Cove for VCMI version, HOTA existence don't mean for me much.

so Conflux is a graphic for use in VCMI too???
C'me on, al are great MODS (VCMI,HOTA,WOG,ETC), must be respected, they do it
for free for all of us, the least you should do is support them.

I don't support snow crews, and to me HOTA crew is known as snow. They are drawn in self-pride, egoism and disrespect to other modders.
PS I use Conflux as graphics in VCMI:-) thanks to HOL 2.2

I added 3 HoTA objects in my tew4 map, and also extracted all HoTA objects and created mod for era. After hiding for one month deep in Tanzania's jungles, I realized no one was after me.

What ethics have I broken? In Limes theme I asked Garret for permission to use his screen and got allowance. That still didn't stop HOTA crew from barking.
In Legion theme I finally made roman town by myself without any of your help, but was attacked for my denial to use pirated Photoshop like HOTA crew do. My use of Paint.NET was through by HOTA crew as my insult on them.

Corrected my post in term. Sorry if someone didn't liked term.
I think I politely and constructively proofed my words with links and quotes altrough earlier. Hope people will understand why I don't tolerate HOTA crew way of doing things and why I will not publish anything based on HOTA material.
So I think this discussion can be stopped, so I will not change my throughts about it.
PS To previous commenter LordRiton - there is no excuse for using pirated soft, as there are many graphic freeware programs allowing same functionality as Photoshop (Paint.NET, GIMP, MS Paint at least).

HotA is a unique mod in terms of consistency with the original gameplay. Completely new ideas aren't welcome in that particular field, you know. If there would've been any brand new add-on from NWC (let's say, due to our game industry had a much more slower pace), I'm pretty sure it was close enough to what we have right now in the form of HotA.

I also use cracked PS and 3DS max to make graphics, and never got a penny from this work. Whether is moral/legal or not, the issue should be discussed between people who do not benefit from. Kinda ironic that you, who collected all those "illegal" defs in order to make VCMI towns, still bring the issue again and again.
All your towns are made with this stuff and you even urge us to make more, through private messages. Should I post them here?

As you wish. PS But in matter of Photoshop someone can get good skill and then find a work based on it. So it becames an matter of benefit.
PPS Since you didn't accused anyone on my memory in thievery, piracy theme don't touch you. It's only is related to HOTA crew doings
