no cigar =( guess i'll have to go without ncf.

the only thing i can think of is that ive bungled where im supposed to put the complete folder, is this right?

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\Complete

Complete folder is used just by the editor and just one time, the first time a creature appears inside.

then, the editor reads the picture in complete folder and turns it in its own cache folder icon for panel list.

so, complete folder is not very important apart if you wish to see the good icon of creatures in panel list.

EDIT:

New info about your bug:

You're running your game (Heroes V 3.1) under Windows Vista and this OS is not supported by this game.
...or this game is not supported by that OS....Anyway Vista and Heroes V are not a nice duo.

That it's enough to understand why you crash when you're begining a fight.

I came to a similar conclusion about the recent crashes of the game. weirdly, it worked fine quite a long time, my previous crashes being caused only by errors in mods.

I received all mods used by wildneb and after the opening and reading of them, I know that all of these files are ok.

I don't know your OS but I never got Vista on my computer and never I will have it...

btw, here is my reference about Vista bug:

http://www.celestialheavens.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9861

I read this topic yesterday and then I decided to think the wildneb's problem is that one.

Hi everybody! I saw this few days ago, and I think this is a great job you did! I wanted to install NCF so I can make some maps with new creatures, but I had some problems. I downloaded NCF for TOE 3.1 and I cannot make my map editor to recognize new creatures. The game works fine. I tried this creatures:NCF_Basilisk Pack, Dark_Angels and Elemental Upgrades. They all appear in the game, but not in the editor. (All files are .pak and are in data folder).

Hi,

it's normale if some NCF are invisible in the editor.

They don't have the reference link to it...

Because, the NCF Editor 3.1 didn't exist when these creatures have been created. So their modder believed unneccessary to create this kind of link. tssss

Your first solution is to ask to creators of these NCFs to upload a new version with the editor link.

second is to open your-self the NCF files and put the links.

Editor link files must be contained in « MapObjects/(_AdvMapObjectLink)/Monsters/NCF »

Here, I give you all Editor Link of all NCFs.

http://www.speedyshare.com/204889683.html

Be very care with that, do not use a link for a NCF you don't have, the Editor will crash.

Note: These links don't allow to have real NCF icon in the editor.

to obtain a icon for each NCF, another thing must be done as adding the « complete » folder in the NCF mod.

Thanks for fast reply. But, I already checked that in NCF file, and it has link for editor. It still isn't working, and I tried different versions of NCF framework and mapmakers packs. And problem is same: new creatures appear in game, but not in editor.

You're probably looking for this thread. After many attempts I managed to make editor working following these.

Will put it in the main post.

yes and also it's a good idea while testing editor, deleting the follow folder before each running of:

{Heroes path}\Editor\IconCache\AdvMapObjectLink\MapObjects\_(AdvMapObjectLink)\Monsters\NCF

by deleting this folder, you force the Editor to reset (refresh) all its cache files about link of list panel object and icon (here we're talking just NCFs as object)

then it will read all links inside NCF mod and icon from complete folder.

all modif you can make about editor cannot have an effect inside if you don't delete this folder before. (especially for a NCF which already scanned by a editor running before)

I already tried that, and it didn't help me. But,after many hours, I discovered a way to place NCF monsters anyway: I place any monster, and then in propreties tee, I select shared. Then, I create new object in any of those folders(neutral, Haeven, Necropolis...) and in that file, I set proprey Creature to CREATURE_214(editor actually sees all creatures from NCF).Then I use that file for Shared property of placed monster, and NCF monster appears on the map.

When I saw your username I got a shock, thinking you might have been Fabrice Cambounet (the Heroes V Producer).

But HoMM5 doesn't work with Windows 7.
So I can't play it.
so If you like HoMM5 VERY MUCH, don't install Win7.
