SimonaK,

Thanks for the reply. I don't know if it's me or my computer, but the MegaPak conflicts with Oblivion Mod. I was hoping the NCF Bank would be updated, because Ballista Upgrades and Memory Mentor are not there.

Thanks again to you and all the talented modders here.

P.S. Does anyone know if it would be possible to make a creature from the catapult and give it boulder "spread" shot like the Gargantuan in H4? I'm hoping to have the time to learn how to mod one day.

The funny ting is that after one year posts can't be edited except of moderators. Why do we ever need such ridiculous limitations? It stops many long-term projects from proper organization.

OK.

to get the name, you must define the path of the name file from the creaturevisual in the monstershared file.

as you must know, the monstershared file comes from MapObjects folder.

put the path of the name file in the <messagesFileRef> tag as in this following sample:

for the icon.

you must create a file localized to MapObjects\_(AdvMapObjectLink)\Monsters\NCF

your file must be named Creature_756.xdb

look in the NCF__Core.pak or any others NCF mod for example.
you can copy another file as well.


open the file:   (this is a example with battle griffin)

in the <Link> tag put the exact path of the monstershared file of your creature.

in the <IconFile> put a path ...but this path begins in your {H5 game root}\Complete folder..

surely this folder doesn't exist, create it...and put your icon dds file inside.

example:
if HeroesV Root is D:\Game\HeroesV then create D:\Game\HeroesV\Complete
in this folder put your icon

and in the IconFile tag put: <IconFile>myicons.dds</IconFile>  replace myicons.dds by your icon name.

finally put « true » instead of « false » for the <HideInEditor> tag.

when it's starting, the Heroes V Editor will read the {Heroes V}\Complete folder to scan new icons with dds or tga format.


BUT

once the editor has seen a new creature, it creates a file for the icon...and if this file is present
then never it returns in the complete folder to reset...

you must go in {Heroes V}\Editor\IconCache\AdvMapObjectLink\MapObjects\_(AdvMapObjectLink)\Monsters\NCF
to kill your Creature_756 file icon before to reset/change it in the editor for next time.

if you don't kill this file, never the editor will see the new icon to replace the old.

actually, your creature has a icon the default icon given by the editor: the « no icons » grey square.

I guess everything should work fine, but it doesnt. So ive changed the name in editor, it worked fine, ive also put the icon to Complete folder, once ive created it, but when ive deleted the Creature_756 from the IconCache folder, there was no "my creature" in the editor anymore. The file was replaced by something that has few bits. When ive "revived" the file back to the folder, the editor still doesnt show the creature in the "Monsters". I did everything like you said, and checked it. Maybe the reason for this is fact, is that i have  other language of the main folder? Thanks anyway for using your time to help me
