want another winning strategy?
It's especially fun when going solo
Pair brothers' "defend" skill with carbuncle's "counter" ability. A character that is defending takes 0 dam from physical attacks, even if they are as mighty as Omega Weapon's Terra break (that does around 30.000 dam to whole party normally - yup, instant GG if not defending or if not invincible due to hero items or rinoa's limit). Counter simply counterattacks whenever attacked, and does not break "defend". So, you can own all physical monsters by just defending, taking 0 damage each time and counter-attacking them after each hit
you can junction 100 deaths to ST-A to make it more rapid (a lot of lesser foes are vulnerable to death).
Carbuncle can also learn auto-reflect that will make this strategy even more fun at mid-game. Later on most magical attacks can't be reflected, since they are not proper spells, just magic attacks. Pity.

I faced the brothers at rather low level, will be getting back at them I'm at the point where the team splits, one to warn the garden the other to stop the missiles. Meanwhile I tried the software renderer and it runs smoother now without black spots just a bit worse graphics.
And it's silly but I forgot to defeat diablos.. Not that I had many chances since the beginning of disk 2, always on the fun

Darn man, you can only get them in Disc 1, except for the very end of the game.

Hey, don't worry. I think that Final Fantasy is most enjoyable when you're playing first time to see the plot. You can always have fun with battle system later, when re-playing the game again. It's even more fun to play it without any ingame knowledge at all - because this game is extremely easy if you know everything about it. When playing for the plot and missing 90% of the hidden stuff, you at least have some challenge when facing the bosses, and that's fun. It would be less fun if Elvin knew about the extra Rosetta stone at D-prison and other things you can get a bit "too early", making your team uber.
My solo-Zell kills every boss in this game with 1 limit break since the moment I refined blizzaga/curaga and junctioned them to STR and HP, making him constantly on crisis HP (which is comparable to full HP of a non-junctioned character anyway) and making his limit breaks super strong. Where's the challenge you ask? Simple. There is none.
Btw, the missle attack is very cool plot-wise. But garden battle is cooler anyway

So what's Rosetta stone? And I'm curious what's the deal with refine. Never tried it.

Rosetta stone gives GFs Abilityx4. Only bahamut has that so it's kinda useful, and to get it that early.. well you can make a nasty powerhouse thanks to it, for example get cover, counter, str+60% and str+40% on one char for a nice killer.
Item refine and triple triad are just ways to get lots of magic. And you need lots of magic to junction in order to improve your stats.
edit: 3333 posts. wtf! ;p

Meanwhile I'm slowly continuing the game I saw what happened at the orphanage and now there is the battle of the gardens Normally Seifer shouldn't be far though the whole GF case seems a bit weak. I think everyone in Irvine's case would have at least said hi than think it's a bummer that the others don't remember him after 10 or so years. Speaking of which how old is he compared to the others?
