Speaking of posts which deserve recognition, there is this latest one by OxFea: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=35852&pagenumber=6 - and at least a dozen more by him, as a search would reveal.

I nominate JimV's continuous ERM ideas support for scripters(not only beginner ones)to receive a qp for his post here (post 14)!
I mention the continuous support in case for some reason the post itself is considered an average one.

I don't want to turn this into a discussion thread, but seriously OxFea has made many outstanding posts - the ERM Console, adding new creatures with new creature numbers, how to specify the mini-map color which represents new terrain tiles, how to make non-shooters into shooters, to name a few - whereas these days Salamandre handles most of the novice questions, as I have formed the opinion that no one will learn ERM unless they read ERM Help and practice it for themselves, and that in most cases only the individual who wants to do something which requires ERM knows exactly what it is that they want to do and what compromises they could accept.
Shorter version: for me, thanks but no; for OxFea, please.
See also Era support work by Bersy, Solitaire345's Grotto, and Salamandre's ERM script work. And others. (It's a lot of work, I know, but that's why Moderators make the big bucks.)

Of course OxFea deserves one, he uploaded 115(!) defs from might and magic 8 HERE
Sometimes a few screens do not testify about the time spent behind, but I can tell you this was HUGE work, probably several months.

Done. I feel there was another one I was going to award him for, but it's been a few days now and I can't remember. If someone links to one, I'll apply.
Either way, welcome to promising status, OxFea!

First of all, a bit off topic: Hello everyone, new guy here, been an avid homm3 player for the bigger part of my life.
OT: As I just said I've been playing this game for a very long time, and just now noticed this "wog" thing, never really been much of an online forum/community user. Especially not with homm3, but decided now that I'd like to dive into the more advanced mechanics and strategies, and finding out all that by yourself can be quite the handfull.
Aaanyways, I've got a couple small questions about this, I have been reading around on this "wog"-thingy but can't seem to find anything about if I am able to play just regular homm3 complete/sod on the wog-mod or if I am forced to use all this new towns and creatures. I am kind of a traditionalist and kind of follows the "do not fix something that ain't broken"-thinking.
Just stick to homm3 complete you might say then. But I noticed this other mod on this forum, this which I find very interesting, and noticed it only worked if I was using wog. So that's the deal.
On the other hand, perhaps there are some traditionalists out there like me, that could tell me if someone who thoughts like this would enjoy the changes/extras/new things in wog, so perhaps it is a approved successor for this glorius game?
I was hoping I could get some responses on this post before I start bothering with all these modding of my game, to actually now if it is worth it, or if I can play it like regular and add that "VCMI" thingy.
Thanks.

I am not sure I get what is your question but a few answers anyway:
1) "don't fix what ain't broken": if you believe HoMM3 has no break game bugs, then you did not play it enough. Completing an XL map is a matter of chance before game freezes or some creature of the week is spawned where it shouldn't.
2) VCMI is not a mod, and atm is far away from being complete, but on good way
3) Besides fixing several bugs, wog allows adding your own ideas, could be custom balance, custom messages, custom fights etc. Note that with all wog options disabled, the game will run SoD like, without surprises.

I tend to have that effect when I write on forums, I blame the fact that I'm not a native english speaker.

Well, what I meant by that was more in the way like; Overall concept, data, number of different creatures/towns/spells etc. I've been having my fair share of crashes, believe me. I don't know if you get me any better now, but I meant more gameplaywise and not bug-wise.
Follow-up question; So is wog more stable than HoMM3?
Quote: 2) VCMI is not a mod, and atm is far away from being complete, but on good way
Oh I see. That is too bad. That "who's creature's turn it will be"-bar thingy and the enhanced "right click information" on the creatures really appealed me.
Quote: 3) Besides fixing several bugs, wog allows adding your own ideas, could be custom balance, custom messages, custom fights etc. Note that with all wog options disabled, the game will run SoD like, without surprises.
I suppose one would need quite some experience in scripting or programming to get full use out of all the possible customizations though?
But if I follow you here, I can play "regular" HoMM3 exactly the same (when using wog), except I can play it in higher resolution options and some fixed bugs? (perhaps there exists some more great additions to the normal HoMM3 with the wog-mod, please tell me about it in that case )Just to confirm this.
If that is the case then that would be absolutely perfect for me. All the new monsters/towns/options and stuff seems a bit overwhelming and clutterish, and to be honest, a bit sily.

Hemske -
WoG plays very similarly - in principle - to vanilla H3. It's more a tool for mapmakers and modmakers to script new creatures, artifacts, and events into the experience. A mapmaker can script changes in gameplay, but overall the game plays almost the same as H3 vanilla.
