same here. Lego sets were the best toys ever. Although I favoured more tehnic over system sets, which at the time were just to simplistic and way overpriced for their piece count.
looks like they solved the issue a bit with the whole juniorisation thing that was in the Town sets of 98/99
The film is very good, really worth watching.

i played with loc-blocs(sp?), and lincoln logs(sp?). i played with all kinds of things, tbh. sticks, dirt, mud, whatever. i used to break sticks into small pieces, and pretend they were crocodiles in a water-dammed gutter that i pictured as the nile, eating whatever got close to the edge.

Same here with Legos. They were my favorite toy and my obsession was not just having them. I used to only have space themed legos, every spaceship I built had to be symmetrical (I built my own ships not the ones that were instructed in the manual), and I used to turn all the lego men's head piece 180 degrees in their helmet piece to hide the smiley faces because "it was stupid they were smiling all the time during fighting with lasers."

I don't know what it is, but Legos are such an amazing toy. I really could buy a box set of them right now, and sit down, and have fun building them.
My brother got a bunch of the pirate legos (really old set) and we even made a TBS game with dice & paper rules where we would battle between pirates & soldiers. There was a marketplace in the middle of the ocean (my brother's floor) where you could purchase rifles, pistols, swords, hooks, hats (which gave different bonuses), legs, torso, etc., in order to build your own trooper. You could buy parrots and monkeys to perform special tasks, or buy an extra boat for traveling. You could also purchase cannons or upgraded cannons. The pirates had two large bases, a small base, and an ocean rafter. The soldiers had one medium base, a small one, and a galleon ship (which was basically a mobile base).
*sigh* Good times. Such a fun game.

Saw Godzilla (2014). 6 / 10. It's a typical popcorn movie that nobody will remember or care about outside of the theatre. Very american.
Starship Troppers. 9 / 10. An excellent combination of action, comedy and satire. That's a hard thing to pull off, but Starship Troopers does it. I'm also impressed by how its way more progressive than most Hollywood movies today, but then, the director is Dutch. The only thing that annoys me is how incompetent the military is.

Sometimes they're pretty smart though. Like when they successfully persuade the people to go to war against the insects over an asteroid that we don't even know if it was caused by the insects. I think the movie is a general criticism against mindless warfare for the sake of warfare (to sustain the system?)

Non-Stop is an action/suspense that delivers. There's nothing unique or extraordinary about the movie but the action is not over the top (by Hollywood standards) and the suspense has some fair twists.
Worth downloading.
The Immigrant is a love triangle, character-driven drama which is set in 1921 New York. It's not a masterpiece but it definitely delivers, too. Besides, Marion Cotillard is a very talented, attractive and charismatic actress, in my opinion. She's good as a lead.
Worth downloading.

Recently watched "Europa Report", with little expectation. Very pleasantly surprised. I don't usually care for the "lost footage documentary" type of movie, but it worked here. I think the film editing had a lot to do with that.
One of the better science fiction movies I've seen since 2009's "Moon".

I prefer it in the Tavern. It has been happily snug in the Tavern for years before you felt the need to rip it out from its deeply-embedded roots. Put the tips of your fingers against the monitor while in this thread, close your eyes, and just listen. Do you hear the slight humming noise? It is the sound of this thread sobbing.

i watched "the purge", i am ashamed to say. both of my sisters said it was good, and right up my alley. ditto from my stepbrother. they kept repeating this, over the course of several months. "watch it, you'll love it", they said. "it's right up your alley, fred." wtF.
i never wanted to watch this... movie, this ULTRA RETARDED movie. now i wasted and hour and some change of my life, all because i respected the opinions of loved ones. never again. what complete and utter tripe. my dumb ass even watched it all the way through(i wanted to shut it off after the first 15 minutes), just because i had hopes that my sisters and stepbrother wouldn't practically beg me to see a movie that didn't have at least ONE worthwhile minute in it. i stupidly thought, "it's gotta get good sometime. there HAS to be a reason WHY they would want me to watch this stillbirth of a film."
and yet, nothing. nada. i could've watched the insides of my eyelids in sunlight for an hour and some change, and been more entertained. this "movie" is hollywood horse****, pure and uncut. this has to be, hands down, one of the absolute worst movies i've ever seen. it has absolutely ZERO redeeming qualities.
