I really don't know. Even if Bayern plays at home, the Blues have shown they can put up a good fight at the Nou Camp...

I predicted Chelsea will make it but I didn't expect Bayern to overpower Real Madrid.

If we're talking who I'd like to take the trophy, my answer is Bayern.

The thing is, Barca are an offensive team. They don't have a very good defence. Chelsea have a good offense, good midfield and a very good defence. They kept defending and got Barca on the break, which resulted in two goals for them. Barca are an amazing team but the team is mainly made up of strikers.

Well, Barca's defense wouldn't have mattered if they managed to put it in the back of the net, but they just weren't up to it. At least two crossbars (I didn't watch the end of the first game), as well as the one time where Fabrogas tried to flick it over the goalie and the defender kicked it out (in the first game).

Fans of Bayern Münich sure are lucky. I'm pretty sure it's the first time in CL history a team gets the chance to lift the trophy at home field. I guess now most Bayern Münich fan will try to get tickets for the final. I wonder if Angelito will be at allianz arena too?

Bayern are a team full of thugs and cheats. Seriously, so many trips and free kicks given to Real Madrid and deservdely so. They deserved to win. Stuffed up some chances but soccer is a funny game. Ribbery (spelling?) and Robben are both cheats and they are nothing but divers. Funny how many people got yellow cards. Are they and Chealsea even going to field a team for the final?

Even if the final will take place in the homecourt arena, the clubs both only get 17.500 tickets each. All other tickets are handled/sold by the UEFA (sponsors etc...). Up to today's morning, there were already 1 million ticket orders for the final

And no, I'm for sure not in the Arena, I hardly watch those game in the stadiums, I rather like it comfortable, no standing in a queue, being back from the men's room on time, etc...

Roma played the final on Olimpico in 83/84 but lost to Liverpool.

What bugs me is that Bayern got to the final but Borussia finished bottom of their group. I expected them to do much better.

That wasn't CL, but EC, though. Not much league about it back then.

Well I think it's a common knowledge that how well a team plays fluctuates heavily throughout the season. Each stage of these european turnaments only last for a relative short while and if you have a single bad period, like Barcelona currently, you're out. On the other hand, in the league, it's how well you've performed throughout the season which counts. In a league it can be especially favorable if your team typically plays well during the same periods other teams don't play very well.

In the last couple of years, Bayern have been much more of an international team in that sense, than a domnestic team.

Manchester United played the final on Wembley last year and lost... yeah it's not Old Trafford but the point is that playing the final in your home country doesn't guarantee a win.

Or, as zamfir would say, Barcelona played the 1986 final in Seville and lost on penalties .

However I think there's a huge difference between your country and your home stadium. In the general vicinity of your home stadium, the support is something common throughout the year, and not something which might happen on seldom occassions. Sure the general population would probably support Manchester if the team played in London against a foreign team, but the same people would not support Manchester in a way, which is similar to a common Manchester supporter, in my opinion.

If we, in this imagined scenario, were to compare Manchester winning CL at Old Trafford and Manchester winning CL at Wembley, I'm quite confident the celebration up to -, during - and after the match would be quite different.

Edit: Regarding the advantage of home field, I don't think there's any denying that on average there exists a home field advantage. However first of all, what team wins a match depends a lot on the quality of each team. When super teams exists for certain period of years, it doesn't matter match at what stadium the CL final is held. Further more, despite on average there exists a home field advantage, there's still a huge fluctuation in how often a team wins. So it'll often depend a lot more on player form and injuries.

I'm not sure I understand the home field advantage. On a professional level, I think most fields would be pretty much the same. The only thing I can see different is the fan support, and that doesn't seem like a big enough problem to lose a game.

Of course it depends on the quality of the team. No one is ever going to claim that a team won because of the support only...

Wow, that was the most incredible finish in the history of the Premier League.

City needed only a victory to claim the title, were led 1-2 in the 90th minute, but somehow scored twice in stoppage time and won the first championship in 44 years.

Just wow.

Zam, you're back! And you're Sean Bean

I just hope that next season there will be Arsenal and Liverpool fighting for supremacy. I could care less which one of the manchester sides took the title today.

Me neither, but I didn't wanted United to hit 20. Besides, it was a great ending for a neutral, such drama.

Arsenal maybe, but Liverpool are on a downward path. At best they will win the Europa League and finish fifth.

Well, Liverpool's at least won a trophy, Arsenal has yet to do so since 2005... but I have to admit I was quite impressed by the Gunners' comeback in the second half of the season. Now they've signed Podolski, but I suspect RVP may be leaving, he was the heart and soul of the team for the most part.
