XXL patch. Play big maps.
XXL patch for SoD 3.2 EN, beta
1. Download
2. Place __XXL_heroes3.exe to %Heroes 3% folder
3. Place THIS rmg.txt (8MM6, edited) to %Heroes 3%\DATA folder
4. Run __XXL_heroes3.exe
Now you can open and play the following maps:
36 x 36, 72 õ 72, 108 õ 108, 144 õ 144, 180 õ 180, 216 õ 216, 252 õ 252.
Random maps
Now instead of S maps the game generates XL,
instead of M - 180 x 180, L - 216 x 216, XL - 252 x 252
(by default M maps are generated).
Be patient during map generation process.
If you want to play old way, just run your heroes3.exe
If you want to play big maps, run __XXL_heroes3.exe
Note: in this beta version the size of the map area pointer for XXL maps is the same as for XL (hard to fix).
Thanks SAG for the exe.

Thanks.

Yes. Just edit any big template. Set appropriate value of Maximum Size. You need special templates to make RMG work correctly. Experiment. Such big maps need more zones, I suppose.

Yes. New map editor already done.
I have noticed that rmg.txt in the archive may produce more than one castle per player. So, I decreased Castle Density to 1. Replace rmg.txt I gave you by this one.

I gues it's good? What is the purpose of creating 252x252 map when there are only few castles you'll never find?

If you want to start with two or more castles, change Minimum Castles in rmg.txt

Can't wait for the new WoG editor. 252x252 is my dream. Now going to figure how ERM will react with the new parameters.

I've heard WoG is protected. If so, I don't have any desire to patch it.

I don't think it is, the previous patch allowing bigger maps worked on it, but created awful visual glitch on minimap.

This sound way to good to pass on, so please forget my noobness on the following (I'm the n00b after all ).
I download, unzip and place the first file and the rmg (that comes in the first download) as instructed in the HOMM3 folder (which I suppose is the folder where the game, etc. is).
Then I click on the link for the rmg.txt, however I do not get a download, I go to a new webpage where I see some text displayed.
I have tried to make a new text document in my data folder and copy/pasting the text on the webpage, which I believe is the same as the text in the rmg.txt, into the newly created text document.
However when I run the game from the new file, I do not get the option to create random maps, eventhough I have SoD installed and can normally generate random maps.
If someone could help it would be much appreciated, thank you in advance.

Quote: right-click on text file and select SAVE AS TARGET, put it into DATA folder
Hi!
I did not find any save target as command. I have a non english system, however I am convinced the save target as command is something you see, when you have opened a file and wants to save it, or is that just "save as"?
Anyway, I have tried the following (I use firefox, btw., I don't know if that makes a difference), I right clicked on the link and used save link as, at which a text file was downloaded that I placed in the data folder.
Likewise I have tried to open the file via left click (opens a new web page, with no save target as opportunity for what I can see) and then right clicking choosing save page as.
However neither of these have resulted in the random opportunity in game on the new .exe file appearing. All I get is an rmg text document in my data folder and when I open the .exe file everything is like normally (like when I open the regular game file, which I have tried, and it still has random game opportunity) except with no random game option.
So I suspect everything works fine, I have just placed something the wrong place or saved it in a wrong way, what I exactly have done incorrect though, I don't know.
Also I have tried, after having the text document placed in the data folder (since my computer now recognizes it as a text document), to use the save as (which I suspect is the same as save target as) of the same document in the same folder, but to no avail.
Thanks in advance.

Unzip __XXL_heroes3.exe to where your original game is. Then put rmg.txt (not from the archive) to DATA folder. To save the archive right click on the link and choose 'Save As...'
