And that link, guys and gals, is the reason I don't play online. At all. Although my APM is probably high enough to not be a fail Bronze. Especially because my APM is probably high enough...I don't wanna die!!

So I've been playing Starcraft 2 in Co-Op online (no PvP in the foreseeable future; makes me jittery. ).

Um, can you believe one of my allies in one of the maps had an APM of 12? My APM hovers between 35-50 (yep, that erratic), but I don't think I could take 1 action every 5 seconds even if I tried. I'd probably die of boredom or something. It was a 3v3, and obviously we got stomped hard by the AI. Because, I can't hold off three computers virtually alone (was getting a little help from the other ally who had more than 12 APM)...seriously guys? -_-

Besides that traumatic experience, Co-Oping has been pretty darn fun.

So they nerfed tanks.

Guess SC2 doesn't just have enough MMM so they have to nerf everything else.

@Doomforge: I assume they nerfed tanks to prevent Terrans from going mass Tanks (or at most, Marines + Tanks). All that did, as you so precisely mention, was make MMM an even more obvious strategy for Terrans. Mind you, I play Co-Op and I use MMM myself when I random Terran, but I feel dirty after the first few dozen times of using it. It's too effective. I don't remember their damage, but some nerfs that they could implement:

(All of the below goes for the Marauders as Marines are okay as they currently are)

a) Drop their HP to 100.

OR

b) Drop their HP to 100. Allow the research of Kinetic Foam at the Tech Lab (you have to boost their HP in the campaign, so why not here?), increasing their HP to the current 125 (or is it 120 in multiplayer? Meh, tells you that I don't even look at their stats when spamming them. ). Cost: 100 Minerals, 100 Gas, 110 Seconds of Time
(If we want to make beefier Marauders a later-tier thing, make Kinetic Foam have an extra pre-requisite of Factory or Armory. Would make sense in flavor terms).

c) Make Concussive Shells cost 100 Minerals, 100 Gas. Just lol at 50 Minerals, 50 Gas. Nitro Packs are only fine at 50 Minerals, 50 Gas because Reapers take so long to make anyways.

Another suggestion I've read around the net is to remove the Stimpack ability from Marauders.

I think that would make a HUGE difference on the viability of MMM and hopefully force players to diversify a bit as Terran.

@mamgaeater: Good luck in there!

was a long time since I played sc2 now (yes, I got tired of the game after like three weeks - but I always liked warcraft more than starcraft and I fear that because I beta tested Starcraft, I lost interest in the real game which was like exactly the same with the same amount of maps which are like 5 1vs1 maps etc) but I always tried to finish the game before Terran could get a massive MMM army
when I played, terran almost NEVER used detectors so a lot of the times dark templars were a win... mass stalkers was also fun
I also think Psistorms can hurt MMM quite a bit
I dont like Colossi, it feels like they die in two seconds - maybe I should have used Sentries to create mirror images of them

Also yes, I am very angry in the post im making tonight so I only say negative things no9w.

For all of you playing Co-Op:

I recommend you report MrFerd on sight. We were playing 3v3 Cooperative. He wanted me to give him unit control. I refused. When the next enemy wave came in, he let my units get wiped out, then wiped out my production by force-attacking and said: "This is for not giving me unit control."

*******.
(Self-censored curse word. Count the number of asterisks and you'll figure it out I assume).

EDIT: I checked his profile: Platinum-Level player.
Elitist scumbag.

I bet he assumes that no one can play as well as he can. What the **** is a Platinum doing in 3v3 Medium Coop anyways?

I don't play SC2, so this may be wrong, but judging from replays and my beta games, I'd say remove stimpack and the game will return to "balanced" terms.

Stimpacks makes tier 1 units too fast, too powerful and for a very little cost that can be healed back in a second.

Starcraft II just arrived, can't wait to play it. >.<

Hoping to have a crash course in multiplayer, in other Real-time strategy games multiplayer games even if I was annihilated helped a lot.

Edit: An awful lot of prerequisites, download register some optimization and whatnot.

Okay the game is really nice so far and online is exactly what I expected in terms of RTS, though need to develop my strategies with each race (yes each, since knowing how to play them will enable you to counter with ease) started out playing vs bots, and surprisingly the zerg are pretty damn good at turtling, more so than other races (vs comps)

Obviously playing versus computers won't really be that good when I face other players, but it'll help me familiarize myself with the game some more.

With zerg I'm at a very primitive stage, having only done a single game with them in a Z v P, but I'm madly in love with roaches and Hydralisks, (mostly hydras) began with buying like 5 of them and having a zergling swarm to tank, worked pretty well at first, then I had to knock it up to roaches since zerglings couldn't stand vs colossuses and an army of thingies.

Edit: I absolutely love zerg, I'm still in the noob zone, but their adaptability and replenishment early game is just sooooo damn good. The enemy was spamming zealots and stalkers, so I built zerglings and hydralisks and barrowed them at the foot of his base to counter any expansions >.< (he was protoss) I sent the occasional zergling to scout and kill one or two miners. Though this forward army was defeated when he brought out some colossi, (the battle was a draw, he withdrew with 3 zealots and me with 3 wounded hydralisks)

To counter the usual stalker & colossi spam, I built roaches to tank for my hydras, and corruptors and mutalisks, I barrowed half my army (50% roaches and hydras, and some zerglings) and he fell into my trap, his colossi fell very quick to my mutalisks and my army unbarrowed midway and finished his army off.

Now to avoid letting him replenish (which he was doing really fast) I immediately sent my mutalisks to kill his entire economy, he had two colossi already and the occasional stalker, but I raped his economy and moved my army in, it was gg then, even if I'd lost my men, there was no recovery from the blow that I struck.

EDIT 14 NOVEMBER 2012

Okay getting better now, I shifted to the protoss, with them I'm very comfortable fighting terrans, not so much zerg and other Protoss, zerg early scouting is especially annoying, since I have to counter the counters, so to speak. (eg I build early gateways and spawn a zealot, he masses roaches, so I have to immediately respond with stalkers or void rays, unfortunately I failed to do so and it cost me.)

Here's an example of one of my games, very green to the game, but I'm an adept RTS player nevertheless. A 12min game, any tips would be very appreciated. link

Edit: **** I hate turtlers, I mean seriously, PvP and I try to rush him and he's set up photon cannons in his base, I can't attack and he can't defeat me. So I set up a forward base. 30min later and we had a few major engagements and I managed to get map control (which means he's screwed) Likely I managed to inrecept a few of his outer bases that he built with the help of transports, but the others he just photon cannon spammed, so he had 3 bases and I had like 7 (I followed suit by arming them all)

After a few more engagements and me having air superiority he too began constructing ships, I had mainly void rays with half a dozen carrier and mothership support, so later game it just became a massive ship fest (I built like 20 gateways to warp peeps unto the frontline, soooo sweet)

But I seriously think an hour of my time has been wasted just laying siege to a coward's base, in the end I starved him out of resources and I annihilated his army thanks to insanely quick replenishment replenishment, and gg. This game was over at 15min.

To validate SC2? Didn't know that.

If you meant to play multiplayer, then let's agree to disagree.
It's my humble opinion that LAN should remain a part of Blizzard games. It's actually what made Starcraft so popular in the first place.

And I don't mind having to connect to validate. As I mentioned before, I don't mind getting two copies. It's the whole "YOU MUST CONNECT TO BNET RAWR TO PLAY MULTIPLAYER...RAWR." speech that got old fast.

Also, sharing one internet connection (which isn't entirely possible depending on your internet service provider) means terrible lag-related things.

It shouldn't be your humble opinion, it should be your expectation. The immasculation of the consumer in the western world has been a joke. The concept of "the customer is always right" or "give the people what they want" is really out the door.

People want lan play because its an important part of computer gaming. It is a basic part of why we play the games. We play them because we have other people to play them with. If I was the only guy in the world playing SC or Warcraft games, I'm sure it would be cool, but not really half as cool as knowing there are millions of others that I can talk about it with.

This whole concept that we need to just agree with what we are told to agree with is just a bunch of silliness. Companies are protecting their profits while they alienate their consumer interest, meanwhile the consumers are so divided that they don't even know what is happening--your best interests are being murdered.

Personally, I find that every enemy I go up against will be a 'fresh' experience, hell even if they do exact same tactic that's been done to death a million times before, they ARE different.]

But yeah, connecting to multiplayer should be choice based, forcing the consumer like that is 'bad'. I hated it with H6, but not so much here, since multiplayer is what I wanted (to boost my skills for singleplayer and vice versa)
