there is no "hidden race" thing for me...
i start with a angle, not a blood-something
my henchman gain around 50 exp per battle...no matter how big the fight is...he is only level 9 after 30 minuttes?
and i always start with lord haart


sorry im a bit noobish...hope somebody can help me!

i want to be level 1000 and fight a giant boss with 500M HP ^^

I must truly suck at this game beyond belief, if this map is supposed to be beatable with all the hardest settings turned on.

I turned down to x2 growth w/ 10% artifact chance, but disabled AI radius restraints, and some other settings which are supposed to make it easier (though which feel kinda like cheating to me).

I did manage to leave my area and explore around, even conquered several towns and vanquished a few players. Their armies are pathetic, since they seem to get themselves killed over and over by the neutral armies. The neutral army sizes are already at 3k+ just 2 or 3 months in (even the tier 7 and 8 armies), but the problem is not their size, is that they keep getting higher and higher stats ALONG with the bigger size. So not only do they grow abnormally fast, neutral creatures also get random additional abilities, such as block and clone self, they all get a warlord`s banner on each stack with a random bonus AND their primary abilities, like defense, attack, speed and HP increase with time.

Isn`t that just a bit of overkill? I mean what the hell, not even the AI with their good starting armies and heroes with very high levels and primary skills are being able to clear the way in a lot of places.

I`m playing Azrael, always leave my specialty at necromancy (except for the first couple of days to leave town), set my 1st henchman as the starting blood dragon, which is currently level 16, set my secondary henchman to firebird > sacred phoenix, with bone dragons as base creature, got myself some Ghosts at one of those lich king`s vaults, which I "bred" and have now 70k+ with a warlords banner set to damage on them, and over 100k skeleton warriors. Artifact-wise I haven`t got almost anything worthwhile, the best being one of those necklaces that bless your army. I replay almost all my battles until I have no casualties, or if it`s too difficult, at least until the number of casualties is smaller than the number of creatures I resurrect or raise as skeletons when it`s over, and I never let my henchmen or commander die.

Still, I can`t beat any of the tier 6+ neutral armies, which are all over the place (or at least not without some heavy casualties and losing my henchmen and/or my commander).

I thought I read somewhere that creatures in your army are supposed to level up as well, not just the henchmen. Was that refering to stack experience, or is it something else, which I should have been using all along that I`m missing?

P.S.: Are neutral armies supposed to drop all kinds of artifacts, or are they limited to morale/luck artifacts and a few necklaces? Because that`s all I ever got so far.

The goal is to locate as soon as you can the emerald towers (initially 2, I added one more), and the 2 palaces of dreams (if playing Azrael you have both tower and palace at one day sail).

Both are very well guarded, but if you manage to pass, then you will have to visit them weekly and improve stats to your troops. With that, nothing can stop you after a while. When feel enough strong, visit the Shrines of magic Incantation scattered on map. If you have those three spells--Resurrect, animate dead and Sacrifice--you will be proposed a fight against Fiona, and will get town portal, clone, implosion etc.

It takes a lot to get familiar with the map, because there are thousand things to do and visit. It took me about 7-8 full games and peek into scripts to get all infos about. And the high re-playability (you can play 9 different games on it, regardless who you play) makes it very special.

Oh, so THAT`s what I`m supposed to do. Was feeling kinda lost, not knowing where all the quest things were. I already found a tower and a battle academy, but I thought they served the same function as in regular WoG, so I didn`t even bother since they were heavily guarded. I guess a few casualties on those fights will be ok, then, if it`ll allow me to upgrade my troops.

Do I have to change any of my "normal" WOG options to play that map?

When starting the map (with Azrael and Necro), I can click whatever and however I want in his portrait in army menu, I always get the window for chosing SECOND henchman! And here I am not allowed to chose the blood dragon along with an "error" hint why I can't chose them.
And I also can click in any way on his speciality icon, I always get shown his current speciality "necromancy", but no chance to change it.

Any help on this?

I can't play with Conflux!When I start the game it says: doctor.pcx not found and the game crash!Also Resource Manager can't find a file when attack a stack and again game crash!

Wtf!When I play with Dragon King and secret race,the growth of lvl 3,4 and 5 it's only 1/week!

@Angelito:the hp of Blood Dragon is too high in comparation with hero level,the secon hencman can't have more than 10Xhero level hp.

The henchman thing got me puzzled at first, so here`s a few tips:

Choose the blood dragon normally as you would a henchman in regular WoG a.k.a. 1st henchman in this map (by clicking the faction flag in the top-right corner on the hero screen). The secondary henchman has some restraints on how to make him. Eventhough you get to choose whatever creature you want from that list, you must select a "base creature" for it, which has some limits to what you can choose.

You're most probably being denied creation of the 2nd henchman with the blood dragon as base creature for two reasons: 1) base creatures cannot have more than 300HP (Blood dragons have 400); and 2) base creatures cannot have more than 10x your hero`s level in HP.

I'm still noobish in this map myself, but I would recommend using the firebird-phoenix as 2nd henchman, since it gets to revive itself when killed once it levels up from firebird (meaning after level 10), which allows you to use it as a retaliation burner and save some troops in tough fights.

I'm not entirely sure about this, but all 2nd henchman stack experience-based creature abilities (like the angel's earth immunity, for example) seem to not appear on 2nd henchmen, leaving the phoenix's innate ressurection as the most useful when playing Azrael. Angel's would be better if only they would cast animate dead instead of ressurect, so they're not as good when playing necro.

Again, this is just from my limited experience here, so I could be way off.

Oh, and to change specialty just shift-click (not ctrl-click like it says in help) on any of your army slots, like you would do if you were trying to split a stack (no need to try splitting, though, just shift clicking an empty slot will do).

It is a bit tricky at first try because almost all boxes were changed to be dynamic to click. There are 2 portraits, one left, one right. On left you choose the second henchman, and it has restrictions (HP and Hero level), so you can choose between skeleton and undead, on the right portrait you can choose the blood dragon. To select Azrael specialty, click on a stack in Hero army screen when holding shift (just realized that Woodmelon's statement about Ctrl + click is wrong, it is shift).

WoG options have no effect on this map, so you can leave them whatever they are.

WOGfy has been forbiden in this map, so any change to wog option will not affect in this game.

You can change the second henchman to another creature by Ctrl+click on hero portrait at left top. And in this panel there is a advance option about second henchman, in which you can decide whether AI hores own second henchman, and how strong their 2nd henchman are. What's more, you can choose other henchman such as azure dragon, vampire.

Salamandre, is there any chance you could re-enable "Undead" status for ghosts in this map?

And perhaps a way for Azrael to choose them as specialty if he has them in his army? I find it rather strange he can choose nightmares or werewolves, but not ghosts.

Ghosts and vampires were seriously tweaked in this map. They are too strong to be played with
Anyway you can end the map having millions of them, but it spoils the fun. I use them only to get money from freelancer.

Hmm, that`s a nice idea, too.

Rampart treasury + selling ghosts/skeletons = Using Azrael's upgrade feature to create lots of blood dragons.

I'm just not sure if that will end up being more powerful than the ghosts and skeletons, though.

why is Fortress secret race?what it have better than others?Dragon King sucks with secret race!The growth is ,wyvern with lizardman stats have growth only 2/week,lvl 3,4 and 5 have only 1/week with fortress normal stats

2 no retaliation creatures, fairies(spell casters) and you start with 2 of them. I think it is pretty balanced. And all his creatures fly too.
I did not test yet the hidden race with all. I should play the game 16 times for that.

at me faerie it have only 1 growth Or I don't know how to play with a few of inutile dragons or it sucks I killed a throng of 190 sprites only with Azazel,1 Spectral Dragon(renamed Blood Dragon),30 skeletons and 4 walking deads in first day and I can't defeat 190 sprites with 14flies,12 wyverns,1 chaos hydra and 1 hydra henchman plus faerie and crystal dragon,with fly and all stuff
