You need to disable most of mods from Panda's package ONLY when playing maps made for Era 2.
Or install pure Era 3, packages are always penalizing the player sooner or later.

Pure means platform only, no mods attached, as we used until now. Era 2 was distributed without mods, the player had to download mods separately.
Check here

"Era latest" is Era 3, no mods.

Stuck in late game
I've been playing this map on and off for a couple of months. It's quite amazing. Late in the game, I'm stuck, and I have some questions.
For my first playthrough I'm playing Haart, 200% difficulty, 10% chance of artifact. I think I left everything else at default. I used ghosts to beat the AIs because I was lazy and also because I didn't really understand the right path to take, getting that far before I read most of this thread or the hints. I couldn't find water walk for ages, so I didn't start using emerald towers until the fifth month (the one that didn't need WW, maybe a few weeks earlier). I'm now in the middle of month 6. I'm using SAAs now, with one speed boost, attack bumped to 75, and damage at 1258. At least I managed to build growth in each town from late in the first month (or so?) so I'm getting about 550 SAA/week from towns now.
I've read every page of this thread (though it's possible I've forgotten something) and I have many questions I haven't been able to figure out. The first one or two at least feel like I'm missing something obvious, the others not so much. I'd appreciate any tips.
Where's the green tent? How do I get to it?? (Type/subtype may be good enough, I can use the find mod) Unless it's gated by the "boss" fight, or the other three orbs, I've missed something important. No air orb -> no way to win. I did see one offhand comment "you just finish the puzzle map" but I don't even know what that is... [Edit: I spent at least 30 minutes trying to find a list of types and subtypes on line, so I could use Val's find mod. No luck. It doesn't seem to exist.]
I beat Roland, then Tyris and Zydar. But now Catherine complains she misses her husband, and Roland pines for her, and... nothing else happens. In particular, I can't trigger a fight with her.
How can you ever kill the boss sacred phoenix? Do you have to rely on high morale and clones? It needs to die 11 times in one turn. So even if each of your stacks kills it once - very unlikely because of the 80% block rate, and your cmdr deathstares him, you need to kill it three more times. Seems nearly impossible... would need the clones to be incredibly strong. Many weeks of emerald towers. (I know I could try the behemoth instead. Haven't found it yet, and yes, I can try, but I'd like to understand how to deal with the phoenix... assuming it's not just brute force and clones.)
What's the point of sparing (or fighting) the one young genie in the lighthouse? What difference does it make? Does it matter if you never do that part, just stopping after you get the necklace?
In the underground level, I can't get at the three corners that aren't in the "the game" area. I assume they're part of the endgame. But I also can't get at the two big islands in the middle (directly east of the pandora's box area on the west edge of the map), nor at the even bigger land mass on the east side of the map, under the "the game" area. Are all those still ahead of me in the story line, or did I somehow fail to find a way into them that I should already have access to? The fire/lava area, especially, looks like it's meant to have an entrance on its northwest edge, but I can't get in there.
What is the small square island in the south that has one tree of knowledge, cursed ground, and a ton of tree stumps? How do I gain access to it? Or will that become clear later?
What does upgrading the Orb of Vulnerability do? It seems the same before and after I upgrade it.
What's the story with the one remaining artifact behind the hell town? I gained access to one using the fire orb, but the other's still there. And what about the artifact directly north of Catherine? Unavailable by boat or water walk.
Where's the list of PoD skills that interfere with each other? Atlantis seems to have been disappeared from the internet (a shame, it was pretty great), and it was the only known source of that list. Val pasted some text in here, including this part: "Of course it is about all spells in the same type columns. Direct/indirect damage, stone/paralyze, mass spells (mass slow will not work with mass curse) etc"... but that "etc" isn't known to me.
How do you get access to the tree of knowledge and light blue keymaster hut buried in the mountains? Yes, I got the hut in the underground level, but I'm still curious to know how to get at this.
I understand the cloak of the undead king and elixir of life are only granted by "the game". I have no patience to play it so many times so I used Val's trainer to give myself those two items, but using them to get through the quest gate gets me attacked by 7x5k hell steeds, and after winning I just get a shipwreck survivor who gives me an hourglass of the evil hour. Surely there's something more to this? Or is that because it normally gives Blind, but I already have that from the quest for all the commander artifacts including pendant of sorc (which I did manage to get from the game, legit).
(Not important, but curious) There seems to be a hint in the tavern that the emblem of cognizance (? Or some other artifact- I forget, it's been a while) will prevent 95% of your brute spoils of battle from being lost. But it didn't seem to work. What am I missing?
Is the abandoned cabin just for training henchmen, or does it have some other purpose?
...well that's a lot of questions. As I said, I'd appreciate any answers. The earlier questions are more important. Thanks!!

Oh boy
I see you have a lot of dedication for playing this map, unfortunately it's been years I didn't play it and this map is a very complex and hidden puzzle, I remember the chinese forums, about 1000 + threads trying to find how and when.
The mapmaker never did a walkthrough or answered to players, so I tried it in original Chinese version, I failed miserably and only then I started to translate and play the quests step by step after looking into scripts.
So sorry, but there is one youtube Chanel where the map was fully played. Only russian, good luck.

You know, earlier you claimed that you beat it on all eight races in chinese...
Anyway, thanks for the youtube link. After about 30 minutes I found the place where he gets through the green border guard. Wiping backwards from there, I still didn't see where he gets the tent. So I watched him going through the green guard again, and...
ARGH!!!
THERE IS NO GREEN TENT! The green gate is scripted! Once you have the whole grail map, it will let you through the green guard. That is REALLY TERRIBLE design. :-( I'm OK with all the other stuff in this map, and really enjoy it, but messing with players by breaking established ground rules with no warning is really awful.
So, anyway, at least that problem is "solved". Hopefully this message will help the next poor fool who gets stuck on this.
Maybe you can answer this one at least: Why did your Atlantis map disappear? It was excellent.

Bosses and Genie
I give up, I have no idea how you're supposed to kill the Phoenix eleven times in one round. I mean, I can imagine having enough luck to manage it after another six months of gathering troops and hitting the emerald towers, but that kind of brute force approach seems wrong.
On the other hand, I lucked into the right strategy for killing the Behemoth on my first try. Although it doesn't say so anywhere, it has a breath attack, and will favor killing two stacks over one every time. So, as long as you have clone, it's trivial. Make sure there's always two clone stacks that it can attack with breath, and it'll always go for those [Edit: and, oh yeah, make sure none of your real units are right next to each other... tactics FTW]. It won't get reinforcements, and you can kill it at your leisure. Oh, make SURE that you cast sorrow on it in the first round, and make sure that never goes away. Took me about 60 rounds... would have taken a lot less if I'd remembered to take off my admirals hat so I was wearing the suit of the celestial warrior again. Sigh.
There doesn't seem to be any reward for this, though, which seems weird. I've looked around really carefully, and I don't see any new ways to get into the areas that are locked out.
On another topic... I think the answer to my question about saving the genie is that after you save her, you have to come back *again*. Then you get some sort of extra power, if you defeat a ghost army. This came from looking at the script - I haven't tried it yet.
[Edit, 3 days later. Fight strategy & general comments]
I finished. The final fight was very annoying - it seemed like it was going to be a repeat of the behemoth boss battle, but not quite. The angel has attack-all-around, and tends to go after your main units rather than your clones. The trick is, dispel his enchantments in the first round, which gets rid of his antimagic shell. After that you can berserk his ass every round until he's dead, sacrificing clones to his berserk attack. I don't know what people who aren't using Supreme Archangels do about the first-round stack loss - I suppose, just eat it, maybe rezzing during rounds in which the angel is paralyzed by your commander. Also if you don't have the orb of vulnerability, I suspect you're toast, so make sure you get that.
The angel doesn't block nearly as much as the behemoth, and has "only" 200 million health, so it took me about 20 rounds to take him down with about 4500 SAAs, upgraded to 1258 damage and 75 attack, and wearing the celestial artifacts. That special artifact is clearly not necessary- it just shortens the fight, saving you time. Bloodlust and bless will also shorten it, if you have free rounds (if the angel is paralyzed by the commander, for example).
Note that the attack-and-return bug can be super aggravating here (as with the behemoth fight). That's the bug where your units don't actually return after attacking. The bug only occurs when your units attack the enemy "from behind", which is generally when the enemy has come to your side of the screen to attack. So, before you start chain-berserking him, you'll have to bait him away from the left side of the screen at least. One way that will probably work is to arrange three or four clone stacks where he can kill them with one hit, while making sure all the rest of your units are dispersed. Or, just leave your biggest stack on the right side and eat one hit. Disabling all your war machines for this fight is a good idea - avoid tempting the angel with even more targets on the left side.
It's a little unsatisfying that four major islands underground remain unexplored, though I understand that the map has to encompass eight different storylines, and I imagine those areas are necessary for some of those other stories. More annoying is the whole Roland/Catherine thing left hanging... though it's possible I'm just missing something. I also wish I could get answers to all my other questions above, but that will probably never happen. Perhaps if I find the energy to try the map again as another faction. I'm open to suggestions as to which one.
