Yup, that one's right. The H6 campaign is, according to what Ubisoft told the french "insiders", the very beginning of the ascent of the Griffin "familly" versus the Falcon Empire. Though the Griffin Empire will only be founded several hundreds of years later. It just appears that the H6 campaigns will be the first stone to the foundation of the future Griffin Empire.

They most likely lost because the Primordial Dragons helped the Angels Which would hint that the Faceless were probably stronger than the Angels.

I also think it's unlikely that the Faceless would make up a whole faction.

If we go by the good-neutral-evil division then it should be Wizards & Nagas. They could explain the absence of Elves with something like they refuse to be part of this succession wars (and none of the siblings relate to them).

If they don't care about the alignment oppositions and stuff like that, then the Elves are staying and the Naga would most likely get some of the spells of the Wizards. For some reason I just can't see the Wizards getting some of that "Blizzard" differences from the other factions.

There might be a point about the Naga not being able to mate with a human, but we can't be sure. In that case the new faction would most likely be something entirely new we don't know about. So it's one sister and one half-brother, right? Wouldn't it be too predictable that the 2 sisters are the Wizards and Necromancers?

As for HOMM ripping off Disciples if the elves are in the autumn forest, well without Heroes there wouldn't be Disciples and they started the faction ripping off in the first place. Plus as discussed in the other thread, HOMM already ripped off the Dark Elves from Warhammer so it's not really an argument.

And it's still not entirely out of the question that the Dark Elves would be back as the underground faction, which would represent the half-brother and then a new faction would be something human related too. But this is the least likely scenario.

Who says the half-brother has to be only one-half human?

A half-brother who has devoted his life to the study of magic because he knows he'll never succeed the throne makes a lot of sense to me, personally.  In which case, wizards could still work as a fourth faction - the fifth faction can very easily be made up of humans as well, even if the faction's theme itself is different.

Remember that Kiril is leading demons, and Anton is leading angels, even though neither of them is truly a member of those races.  A human sister could be leading an army of nagas, or lizardfolk, or worm-people, and it wouldn't be totally insensible.

I will say that I'm already much more interested in this game's story than I was in H5's.

EDIT:  The more I think about it, the more I think the Faceless will probably be these "Bosses" they've been talking about, with Wizards serving as the fourth faction, and something else in slot number five.  I can't help but think that the spot in the timeline is too fortuitous not to include the elven schism; but I think that it probably will have to be handled in an expansion pack (and that might very well make sense, too).

It would be kinda strange if Academy and Sylvan wouldn't be in the game, I think. Academy is the strongest candidate to symbolise the "Magic" part of "Might & Magic" (and for "Might" I would choose Inferno, of the factions we now know). And a elf would make the most sense to be one of the half aspect of the "half-brother" we have heard about in the campaign. But in this case it could be a dark elf but it seems a little off to me.

Not necessarily. Remember there are now a Might and a Magic hero for each faction. Thus, it does not make sense to label each faction as being either/or. For instance, Magic Inferno will have a strong affinity for damaging spells, thus almost making them play like the classic Warlock.

h6 is about the conflict between five brothers and sisters(include one half-brothers)So I guess these five factions are
Inferno £ºlava
Necropolis£ºwasteland
Sylvan£º jungle
Haven: palins (summer)
Human who still believe in dragon of sky: plains (autumn)

naga or faceless will not follow a huamn's order imo, hence i guess the new faction is the human who founding of the free cities of the East

I like the idea one of the new factions to be the cities of the east. Even then though Faceless and nagas can be there as neutrals don't you think?
By the way, talking about neutrals, does anyone know why the h6 phoenix is blue? I heard it has to do something with the moon, but I guess that is not the whole story

I posted the same thing last night on another board ^^ I find it funny that everyone reading half-brother implies half-human

I think you're a bit mistaken here. Except Anton who's Pawel's heir, none of the brothers/sisters is said to be a "leader" in his/her faction. Anastasia is becoming a vampire, Kiril is most likely becoming a Hell Knight.

Wouldn't that be just some old version of Haven without the Angels?

For some reason I have doubts about them "wasting" a 5th faction on humans on the expense of leaving out elves, titans and black dragons.

The half-brother has to be half-human because how else can you relate to other races? Yes, a human can become a necromancer and a hell knight like the siblings do, but how do you pull that off with elves or nagas? If the half-brother is just a mage then what would the sister be? So yes, if this sibling story is very strict then the 4th faction is Wizards and the 5th one is some new faction that can have a human-hybrid.

First of all, hi everyone, I'm new to the forums. Been lurking for a while now.
Second, I would like to present a short timeline so we can discuss the faction probabilities. Timeline:
461 YSD. Discovery of Necromancy
467 - 504 YSD. The Orc Crusades
512 YSD. Creation of Beast-men
540 YSD. War of the Bitter Ashes – Birth of the Dark Elves
564 YSD. 2nd Eclipse - Rise of the Demon Sovereign
969 YSD. 6th Eclipse - Queen Isabel's War (irrelevant for the story, just in for timeline comparison) - events covered in H6 1.0 (about 400y before H5) will probably be something unwritten in Ashan history, with the expansions bringing us the Elf wars, birth of Dark Elves and maybe their war with Dwarves, and hopefully something to do with the Demon Sovereign.
I think we'll have Academy as 4th, being the second good faction. At that time, Mages created creature like minotaurs, centaurs and harpies. Maybe some of them would make the lineup. Orcs have already freed themselves, and could make an expansion faction.
As for the fifth, Nagas are said to be the wisest and most peaceful of races, and could play a role in a war against demons. I agree that the Free cities of the East would be an awesome faction, with human and beast-men refugees, and it is the only logical choice for the 10th faction (has the total of 10 factions been confirmed?).
While I would love to see the Faceless as a tier 7 creature in a Dungeon faction, I don't think it will happen because what would the children of Malassa, the black dragons, do? The argument that the Faceless are too few just doesn't stand because it is said that the Angels were also almost exterminated after the first demon invasion, and yet we have them.
Another thing, if Malassa has children, then probably Elrath has children as well? Gold/Sun dragons? And Sylath's children - White/Silver dragons? I know people hated so many dragons in H5, but blacks are core to the game. I really don't see them leaving out the other dragons as top creatures as well. Unless they say that the Elemental dragons decided to stay away from these affairs and offered aid in the event of H5. However, the giant water snake is probably child of Shalassa, which will increase the number of dragons and ruins my point
They need to be very careful with how they integrate this one into the whole story, or else they must retcon the lore.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Ashan is based on dragons so it would be strange if they removed so many dragons in a prequel only due to fan complaints. It is strange we're facing the possibility of having 5 factions in the game and none of them having a dragon as the top tier creature. And yes I can see that boss being actually a water dragon from the Naga faction.

I agree. I like dragons and would welcome each elemental one (don't flame me pls ). However, that would leave the problem of Angels and Faceless as faction units and their power compared to the dragons. They are already as powerful as known dragons and far more powerful than other Elder races (Elves, Dwarves, Humans and Naga). Downgrading them to tier 6 is just not gonna happen.

According to the lore it's quite probable. The trailer did show an eclipse and this is the only one around that period.

564 YSD.

Total lunar eclipse. This time the Blind Brothers had predicted it, and the Alliance, helped by the Dragon Knights, is quick to react. Only a small band of demons manage to escape into the world. The names of the Demon Lords, Urgash’s first children, are heard no more. Instead, the name of Mal-Beleth, the new and only Demon Sovereign, appears.

The lore also suggests that Necromancers shouldn't even be close to a faction as yet:

461 YSD.
Belketh, a disciple of Sar-Shazzar, discovers the path of Necromancy. Necromantic experimentations begin in the Seven Cities.

610 - 660 YSD.
The Necromancer presence grows until they are a powerful political force in the Seven Cities.

751 - 770 YSD.
Jealous of the power acquired by the Necromancers, the Wizards of the Seven Cities initiate a large-scale persecution, ranging from the seizing of their properties, to banishment, to the spectacle of public executions
A long and gruesome civil war ensues. The ancient cities are destroyed and much of the land is rendered uninhabitable.

Since the events of H6 are supposed to occur around about 564-569 YSD there should be no way the necromancers are a separate faction.

Nobody says they are. Arantir was independent regardless of the rest of the necromancers, I see no reason why Sveltana could not be as well. The undead units exist, it would be a matter of following her.

I think I can add something - have you seen the question from the sphinx riddles :"What is the Heart of the Griffin?" - the answer is "a fragment from King Alexei's soul". King Alexei is also the human that had killed the greatest number of demons.

In the trailer we saw a man who fought with a demon and then his soul was taken, probably turned into artifact(the cool sword with the blue diamond). If this is King Alexei could this be a key to the story? I haven't heard his name anywhere except from the Sphinx riddles, so it can provide a good fondations for a new storyline with elements and characters we don't yet know?

This are just my speculations, but I think they might come out to be true.

It doesn't suggest that, it only suggests the Necromancers don't have their own lands and they are not as big in size as Haven for example. If they weren't a "separate" faction, in HOMM methods that would suggest some of the Academy having undead units which is a no no for both gameplay and tradition. Also, the undead is "produced" different ways than most factions so if Necromancy is discovered, they can make as many skeletons as they want to.

Besides, just because one of the siblings becomes a Necromancer, raises an army and enters succession wars, it shouldn't reflect on big Ashan politics.

Kinda Alexei died 20 years prior to H5 when he changed into Sheogh with Cyrus and Alaron refusing to follow him. Tieru somehow resqued his soul and bound it to the artifact.
