It's not the solution I think.
Creators of H5 made it perfect, I had hoped there would be some kind of addon for that in H3.

BTW - is there way to make caravans like in H5? I am tired of visiting each monster site to recruit.

I tried to find it and whatever I've found was related to the WoG by Berserker.
I do not see that option in WoG to recruit troops in dwellings and bring them to castle.

Dear Bara, big thanks for constantly improving this mod - the recent changes are really, really useful!

Some feedback:
- I guess there is a First Aid bug: I am playing SoD campaign Unholy alliance and sometimes with Gelu oder Yog (both with Expert First Aid) the tent heals less damage than it should, e.g. my ogre mage has suffered 28 damage (32 HP left), but the tent heals only 1 HP! I am playing on Windows 10 with GoG version and no other mods installed but HotA (but playing Complete, not HotA). I don't know if this only appears with HD mod, have not tested that yet.
- bug with View Earth? Icons for ressources, heroes etc. clutter at the left edge of the screen:

- new scrollable battle log is nice. if you click to show it, it might be better if it starts scrolled down already (normally you are interested in recent events, not in beginning of the battle)
- when creatures join your army (e.g. goblins for free) they should generally join the stack of that unit type with most units. so when you have fodder stacks, you don't have to rearrange units from fodder stack to real stack
- HD launcher: a button to view change log would be nice
- would be nice to see cost for upgrading creatures if hovering over upgrade button with mouse (especially if you cannot afford it, you want to know how much it would be)
- the original gold icon in town is of relatively low quality. e.g. click on buy mage guild lvl 2/3/... you see icons for wood, gems, sulfur etc have good quality. but gold icon looks raw and cheap. would be nice to improve that
- would be nice to have ini-option to fix Armorer/Turret bug conveniently. I want to play with the bug fixed, but after every update I have to hexedit again

High resolution monitor microscopic cursor

I just got a new computer.  It has Windows 10 and a very high resolution monitor 4k.  I installed the game, the HD mod and it seems to work fine, except the cursor is tiny, I mean microscopic.  It is so small you can't see the number of moves next to it at all.  The rest of screen is normal, the castles and characters are correctly sized and proportioned.  Things I have tried include; checking and unchecking use system cursor, increasing the size of the system cursor, changing the screen resolution of the game and of the computer.  I still haven't found a good lower resolution, but even trying any of the lower ones have no impact on the cursor within the game.

This is already a feature of HD mod. Just select the lowest source resolution. On mine it's 1066x600.

Now it is consistent with gold icon for adventure map. Btw, in kingdom overview it is still the old, original icon:



With this icon, I don't have any problem, original icon was also fine. It only should be consistent.
What I meant with my earlier post is the bigger item in build menu in town, marked with red in first screenshot. It looks raw and unpolished in contrast to other ressource icons which are more detailed than small ressource icons on adventure map. So this would be a welcome little improvement for HD mod or HotA. Perhaps the new HotA icon for +350 gold could be used (or something similiar)?


Perhaps HotA grafical imperfections thread is more appropriate than here. But I think, little grafical improvements could also be extended to HD mod as much as possible / adequate.
For example, bugged citadel icon is still present in HD mod:


would be nice if this was polished

Nobody else seems to have answered this yet, so I thought I'd enlighten you. This is a bug (or it may be just the mere uselessness of first aid tents) in the base game. The HD mod has nothing to do with it, though it could be nice if the mod imroved first aid tents just a little bit.

Is it normal that the Spellbook is not animated in the HD mod while browsing? Have already made all possible, obvious settings without result.

In system options ingame, where you also set volume and speed, you have a checkmark do enabled/disable animations of spellbook.

Unfortunately this does not work, neither in Hota nor in H3 Complete. I've also loaded the default tweaks, you never know if some bits were set manually wrong over time. Only if I start Hota or H3 Complete with the original exe (without HD), the Spellbook is animated.
Also different resolutions including the original 800x600 16bit does nothing.

Oh, I also tried it and you are right, the setting does nothing, it is always not animated.

@baratorch: I think this is a bug

spellbook is no animated in HD mod because there is no animation for extended HD spellbook. I cant create this animation. Create it if you can and I will include animation in HD mod.

The extended spellbook is much more valuable than the animation of the pages. I was just wondering why it did not work and asked me if not my hereos something going wrong.

Thx mate, you are right. It's funny. I am playing this game for a long time already but didn't remember that. It makes First Aid even much worse than I thought it is. I mean, if the tent heals 1-50 randomly, then you cannot rely on it at all. If it would heal 50 always (and so on higher levels), only then it could be helpful in the early stages of the game, e.g. as Fortress with Wyverns.

I guess the original developers did not plan the tent like that concerning the description of the First Aid skill. And I tried to replicate it in HotA but couldn't! So I think it's fixed there? Although there is no such info in the official changelog.

HotA did'nt change First Aid. It still heals 1-XX, which makes it incredibly bad and yes the descriptions are wrong or rather the skill is wrong I would say.

You are right, it's still there. Could be fixed by HotA I guess, because I don't suppose this was the intention of original developers and HotA tries to stay close to their intentions
