@ zenofex: Of course we now that the game is not going to be perfect (tell me one game that was/is/will be perfect) but a lot of people here are so negative that they only look into the bad part.

I can play a game with any of you if you want:
For every bad thing about the game I will tell you a good thing and a game where that wasn't present.
And other people are so positive that it looks like they are abusing dangerous drugs but nobody tells them to stop chanting how great the game will be every 2 pages. The whole point is to discuss things, not to depreciate someone's opinion only because it's very different from yours. If you can prove that you are right, then prove it.
As for the rest - we still know very little about the game and it's very hard to tell for sure what's "good" and what's "bad" so your game is totally pointless. I'm talking strictly about the game mechanics here, not about subjective issues like whether the female Angels are better or worse than the male ones, does the graphics look good, should the town screens be restored to their normal size and so on. What we are talking about all the time is expectations. Which is not the same as facts, agree?

You DO have a point and if you discuss anything I will be happy for it (after all this is the discussion thread but while we bash the bad things we should gloryfie the good things.
While we talk about how junky the town window is we should remember how good the terrain looks. While we bash the spring spirit for looking like other creatures and being lame we should remenber how good the yuki-onna looks in-game. While we scream that there are 3 orcs replacing really cool creatures we should be gratefull it isn't 5,5 dwarves. Balance is the key.

Zenofex nailed my concerns with what we know about the respec pretty well. If it were to be as bad as that, a rule to not use it wouldn't solve anything as skills necessary to play early would be broken for late. It would just get really awkward and play worse to not use it. Hmm. I can also see it working well if done properly. The level 20 mark could be an interesting pivotal point of strategy from both sides.

It is entirely immersion breaking though. A hero leveling up represents a hero becomming stronger over time through working on their chosen crafts. It makes sense within the world, much like how the world map has things that represent something tangible like an army or a building. The creatures represent armies fighting one another. There's an epic story being played through the icons and numbers. Respecing just kind of tosses that out the window and reduces it to cold numbers.

I can't say it'll bother me when playing, it's just a little obvious from a conceptual standpoint right now.

Finally some new info! (new Q&A in the news thread)
Control points and town conversion can be turned off, so "classical" maps are possible! The AI is faster, and the kingdom view is back. Also, the town screens are just as bad as we've known for a while now...

The ability to turn off control points and stuff... AH makes me so happy! This is the best way, we can choose if we want to go "old school" or new school!

OH and this made me lol:

I hope there will be people making maps with areas of control. I mean, it would be useless to try something new if none is going to make maps with this new feature.

Also, if I understand correctly, the town windows will change with every building created, but these aren't ready yet. So, I believe it's not 20th April we will see the final Town Windows.

The town visuals change when you build stuff (although in the current design, not all buildings appear).

I don't think they will bother to make animations for all buildings considering how low town windows are on their priority list. I'm disappointed to the core.
There is one thing that almost all of the community sees as mistake and still they stubbornly push this idiotic windows.

I do agree, I especially liked your previous post on the respec issue. For what it's worth the devs are aware this is a hot issue and we're doing what we can from our side as well.

I'd like to believe that the key comes with the download, although I am not sure how it might work for me as I had pre-ordered it from Steam.

From experience, those who have pre-ordered a game before the beta release date will have access to beta no matter how many there are, and any buyers after this date miss out.

...I think.

I don't think it's been clarified anywhere to date. As far as I know, if you've preordered, it'll get to you one way or the other.

@Elvin, always nice to hear.

The most positive information for me is the customization of the game mechanics. That Town conversion and Areas of control can be disabled is  great news. Does this apply also on Creature pool? this would actually dismiss my greatest concerns, also if this would by applicable on all non scenario maps.

You mean can you disable the new Tiering System? I'm no insider, but I very much doubt that. Such deep-core mechanics are rarely customisable.
If you mean, can I disable the recruitment of creature X in my own custom-map. I would say you likely could.

Was ment more like:
Can I make that the unites that are produced in a town can only be recruited in that particular town. Unlike the image I have about the system at this point, that the units I produce in a Town A can be recruited in any town or control point on the map as long as it is under my control.

This is one of my biggest concerns about the game, and if I am misunderstanding here something pleas clear me out, I would be very thankful

Aw **** that's going to hit multiplayer pretty hard... dayum. They better have a duelmap in their default map pool in order for some activity to ensue since I doubt many people will have the patience they did with H3 back then... so Elvin go contact them they need your map!

Interesting, I'm not sure how the devs can change anything they have already done.....the beta is getting released soon...

Just a point of interest:

There are 3 areas of skills:

Might tree paragon, realm, tactics, war cries, warfare
Magic tree light, dark, air, earth, fire, water, prime
Ability tree faction ability, starting ability, class ability

Only the might and magic trees are affected by ability points, so only these trees one can respec.

The ability tree levels up automatically and you don't have to spend ability points to unlock them. So your class on might/magic and blood/tears can't change.

Oh you'll live, H5 didn't start with sim turns either. Besides a duel map may not be needed just yet

Some clarifications on the respec feature. I feel it is needed on some levels but not in a way that:

- Breaks the immersion.

- Makes little sense. In my view it should be tied to the reputation and more specifically the chamber of judgement, that way you can attribute the respec to the hero's training and newfound focus. Like in a martial art or any craft you will have to discard some things you know(unlearn if you may) if you are to learn things anew and adapt.

- Allows abuses like picking enlightenment for extra xp only to discard it later. Combined with the above point it would be better if the respec only allowed you to change reputation based abilities/spells. Remember that reputation will modify an ability's effectiveness before too long, a healing/damaging spell might be quite handy in earlygame but as soon as you gain a focus it will be weak compared to the path of your choice.

I believe that with a little polishing it could be pretty alright.

Hi everyone (sorry I'm barely around these days and posting no news - exams, more exams, etc). We have the chance to do a Q&A of our own with Julien/Marzhin, asking up to ten questions about H6, and instead of feeding him the questions ourselves, we want your involvement this time

Please just avoid repeating what's been covered at the recent CH interview because we'll probably just get the same response. Luckily they didn't ask many pressing questions, so it mainly means "don't ask about town screens".

Also avoid questions about multiplayer or DRM stuff for the time being, because the reply will just be "we can't tell you yet".

So fire away.

One of the big improvements in Heroes VI is that skills are no longer random so you can plan your leveling a great deal more accurately than in Heroes 5. So what made you incorporate the respecing feature and how will you prevent it from simply being a free mentor visit that rewards people who were sloppy in their leveling thus destroying the advantage players gained by leveling up with greater care?

EDIT: See how I sneakly implied that they're total ****ing morons if they've made the respecing free? Dayum I'm like the ninja master of implied insults. They'll be like "No it's free" and feel a tang of regret about what they've said without being to pinpoint where that feeling comes from all day long trying to find the source but being unable then when they go to bed it'll hit them like a truck BAM "AWWW **** we're so stupid....what have we done?!".
