A huge speculation regarding something 99% certain. The wolves are neutrals - that's it! They don't fit in any of the existing factions, they aren't hard to make (seriously guys, how long do you think it takes to make a bloody wolf - that's not a hecatonchire, an amateur can draw it and animate in a matter of days!) and they are probably - rather poor I'd say - response to the complaints about the small amount of neutrals. Here - mystery solved. Too bad that there was no mystery in the first place.

Oh you, just come out and say it right away.
But for all the weird decisions UbiHole have made, I don't see them *not* making a Summon Water and Summon Light elemental spell if all the other schools have one.

Judging by your statement, I'm guessing we'll have more than 8 neutrals (with everything else staying the way it was)?

Actually Zeno, I think it's strangely out of character for you to suggest they actually added a neutral.
It never was a big complaint anyway compared to various other issues.
I'm pretty convinced we still have only 8 neutrals, just that there are not water and light elementals.
I vaguely recall there being something about a neutral appearing on a T-shirt (not the collecter's edition T-shirt) which if I recall was described as a hulking green creature.
I'm going to see if I can track down the original information on that, it should be somewhere amongst the posts of about a year ago or so.

Yes, there were and there are a lot of complaints regarding the small number of neutrals. 8 in total, 6 of which are elementals, and none of which are recruitable via conventional means is nothing short of an excuse. Maybe they're considering changing the models of the Water and the Light elementals but they won't cut them off the game. It's not really something worth such a discussion, I'm quite surprised by this outburst of chaotic speculation about something pretty obvious.

I still don't think we're getting more then 8 neutrals, and I still don't like that.
We have nothing to suggest the wolf is not part of the 8 original neutrals planned.

There was only a gameplay video that confirmed the Water Elemental ... Only the light elemental has never been confirmed other than Boci saying that 6 neutrals were elementals.

New track is up for those who haven't seen/heard it. It's the Wasteland theme. And it sure sounds very Wasteland-ish. Majestic, yet empty and depressing. And don't give me none "it's not empty, it's Heroes 4" jabber. I'm talking about the face value feel of the music, not the origins.

My thought is that they use the same model but have different abilities (which is very cheap)

We've seen the Water Elementals already and there was a short outrage when it turned out that there is next to no difference between them and the Spring Spirits. I can't remember which video was this in but it was one of the more competent summaries of the progress to that point for some German media. Should be somewhere in the News thread. And really - you have Air Elemental, Earth Elemental, Fire Elemental but no Water Elemental? What's the point?
As for the Light Elemental - if you remember the notorious Christmas tree, there was an image there which looked like a slightly modified version of the Glory. What's the chance to be the Light Elemental, especially if you know that the Water Elemental is a copy-pasted Spring Spirit (or vice versa)?

Well if that is really true, I'd be extremely dissapointed.
Re-using a model like that is just something I really despise, especially considering the aesthetic standards of the rest of the game.
Pallate swaps are one of the few game elements of the 90s video games I do not miss.
Ironically I find it preferable to believe the Wolf is indeed an additional neutral, because that opens up the possibility of more.
I really don't know which of us is more cynical on this wolf matter... which is odd, usually I'd assume you're the more cynical one.
Edit: I'll admit, it would certainly explain why the Spring Spirit and Glory are elite creatures in the first place, when both have core creatures beneath them that look significantly more intimidating.
I could be wrong about many things, but I still think there is a chance I'm right, I'm not so arrogant to claim that my theory is more then just a theory.

Yes Elvin, come out with it! Tell us all hungry heroes fans what it is! Or maybe he's sworn to secrecy....
If the Glory is the light elemental and the spirit the water elemental then they can't have summon spells for them as they are faction based creatures. (the neutrals were confirmed to be elite and one champion, phoenix)...
With the wolf now a neutral, it's really thrown it out there that the can't be 6 elementals from the 8 neutrals confirmed....as we've seen the phoenix and mermaid....
