This is the end of Sarah Palin.
With Bachman's straw poll win and Perry's entry, there's nothing she could possibly do in the race that Bachman or Perry couldn't do more effectively.

If Romney or Perry gets the nomination and wins, it'll be another 8 years before we see Palin again.
If Perry doesn't take the nomination but runs a solid campaign it's pretty much a solid guarentee that he'll be the nominee in 2016.  That's still another 8 years, possibly 12, before we see Palin again.

This national embarassment is at an end.  Cheers folks *raised glass*

I think if Palin were going to run she would have already announced. I think the Republican nomination will come down to Perry or Bachmann. Perry most likely.

Obama continues to sink in the polls.

Dear lord, hear my prayers and answer them.  I only want to have a say who gets the republican nomination.

God, dear god, please let the republican nominee be Michelle Bachman.

What's that you say?  I'm allowed more choices just this once?

God, dear god, please let the republican nominee be Mitt Romney.

What's this you say?  A third request being granted?  I shall not disappoint!

God, dear god, please let the republican nominee be Rick Perry.

And dear lord, in closing, for your love, please don't let the nominee be John Hunstman.  He isn't even a christian.  Please remember that.

From a foreigners point of view, the Republicans feel crazy and equal to Al-Qaeda when it comes to zealotry but I must say that the Bachmann girl - choose her.

Please?

It would be sooooo boring to have yet another old man who should retire as a president. That Bachmann girl seems a lot more interesting and fun.

You go girl!

In 2016 you will have a transsexual buddhist asian girl for president.

Well, unfortunaly the US isn't exactly my favorite country atm... it feels like a sinking ship that China just blasted.

Also the "democratic" system there seems very problematic so I think it is really hard to become a top politican there. I also HATE how there are only TWO PARITES in the US, when here there are EIGHT in our parliament. It is also much easier to become a top politican here. I am sure that with some motivation, I will get into the parliament in atleast 7 years and earn 5500-6500 euros a month. <3 ^^

They also have a weird and outdated constitution which seems even more holy than the Bible in Texas.

People in the US also seem really religous. Imo, it can easily be compared to Saudi-Arabia. Can I imagine people here saying "God bless you!" all the time? NO WAY.

Another problem I have with the US is that it is waaaaaay to capitalist. I and the rest of the civilizied world can not imagine having to PAY TO STAY ALIVE.

If I had to move to another country, it would probably be the United Kingdom. I just loooooooove the brittish people!
Australia and New Zealand also seem nice, but it so far away and I just love Europe.

Canada is in North America which is also far away from Europe.

I could also learn german. German is pretty similar to swedish and english, so it should not be that hard. Then I would move to Austria, which is close to the Mediterriean Sea.
Wien/Vienna is such a beautiful city. I hope to visit there ome time in the next few years.

It's true we Americans have more than our fair share of religious zealots.  Australia got the criminals.  We got the Puritans.  I think the Aussies are better off in the long run.

Well, we are evidently being allowed to go off topic into religion bashing, so here are my takes on some of those comments....

Because atheists have done sooooo much better jobs of running officially atheist nations, eh? Lenin, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, ect, certainly made their nations very pleasant places abounding in liberty and human rights.

America is the land from which freedom has flowed precisely because of her Christian heritage. America has always been the nation people wanted to immigrate to. Atheist nations people have wanted to flee from. I'll take the nation founded by theists, thank you.

Zeal for good things is good. Zeal for good things is not crazy.

Conservatives tend to be zealous for good things like freedom and Constitutional principles. Liberals tend to be zealous to bad things like wealth redistribution, discriminating against people based on skin color and gender, and tend to abhor the Constitution because it limits the power of government over the lives of the people.

Of note is that conservative demonstrations are peaceful protests. It is not unusual for liberal protests to break out in violence. In that way the liberals tend to be similar to Al-Qaeda in that they justify the use of violence to advance their dogma.

A democrat's prayer
Oh, God, dear Lord
Please listen to me
and grant my plea
I of you implore.

More taxes, Lord,
But not on me, for
the guy next door!

Let his taxes go
up, up, up!
As you know,
he has too much stuff!

Let Uncle Sam take
my neighbor's stuff
and mine them make,
Lord, I can't get enough!

You know I can't toil away,
at some mundane work,
I must hear Oprah's say
and my coke I must not shirk.

Bless my welfare check,
make it to grow,
and smite Glenn Beck,
I hate him so!!!!

Because atheists

STOP RIGHT THERE!
He said Australia., aka Down Under.
Which has nothing to do with Atheists.
Why are you confusing outcasts British with Asians and Mongol descendants?

But lets be honest here:
1. Raise taxes(progressively, the top 5% should barely be able to earn money)
2. Remove taxes on the lower middleclass and everyone below
3. Increase corporate tax
4. Increase welfare, A LOT
5. Build more infastructure, 1 rail national trainline I am looking at you
6. Arrest anybody who is attempting to raise the debt ceiling or attempting to do default, if they are in Washington and has a political position
7. Ban the 2 parties from participating in the next election(automatic disqualification of 95% of the candidates?)
8. Ban political adds, and ban political campaigns
9. Demand 100/100 as minimum nation broadband speed, give 3-5 years to meet it
10. New law: If a corporation is declared bankrupt, and the leaders have taken money out of the corporation over long time, the corporation has a right to have all the stolen money back, or at the least intil the corporation is in no danger of bankrupcy.
Corporation leaders are allowed to keep what they could have payed out in minimum wage
11. Introduce minimum wage
12. Introduce a law that declares the line, where if crossed the politican loses all legal protection against the mob.
13. More statist and totalitarian ideas

EDIT: Insults removed.

Perry could very well win the nomination, but I think he'd lose the general.

Romney comes across as a limp noodle and won't inspire much enthusiasm from the conservative base.

The only Repub candidate worth a damn as far as I can tell is John Hunstman, but he's such a long shot I doubt he'll make much headway.  Paul Ryan has a lot of fiscal conservative substance and has a very moderate style - but he doesn't seem ready to jump in the race.

Obama is a very vulnerable incumbent but it's not looking like the GOP is going to be able to take advantage of it, not with this crop of goofy firebrands.
