Oh, I care a lot about creatures and story. I don't particularly care what other people think of it. And I especially do not like the way people voice those opinions.

Agreed about spring spirit (hell, how many generic looking barbies do we need?), but overall I'm pretty pleased about Sanctuary, considering my first impressions.

Seen from what I think represent The heroes series I don't feel like the naga is right. I think a dungeon or silver cities faction would have made more sense, since we would have had the titans and black dragons(hopefully). Those are the two mascots of the series and to write them out so far, is very confusing for me.
That is why the sanctuary disappoints me so badly. :/ I don't see the connection and so far they haven't explained the connection.

Sorry, forgot:
I certainly hope to see Titans and Black Dragons returning in expansions. If I had any serious indication that Sanctuary actually came to replace Titans/Dragons, then I'd be disappointed, not pleased.

Replacing was never considered, it is simply a matter of when you get them. And if you see Marzhin's second Q&A you may get some hints on that.

This faction seems to me.. I don't know..POOR?
1.The Kappa and the Shark warrior fits as neutrals (like halfling in H3 or Rouge), but not a in a faction lineup.( I think )
2.The Spring Spirit and the Water Elemental are the same creature(thats just and other problem)
3 The Spring Spirit, Snow Maiden and the Coral Maiden are looks Very Alike!

Sanctuary is certainly the most exciting town, I think, because its a new town.
I was very disappointed that both the Spring spirit and Ice maiden stayed though, and that they had not changed the design of the fake Medusa.
My concerns:
1. Core/Elite creature placements. Sharkman, Kappa and Fakeusa all look like Elite creatures to me. Spring Spirit and Ice Maiden do not. Especially the Ice maiden, that REALLY looks like a core creature to me. I would have made the Sharkman an elite creature and moved the Ice maiden to core.
2. Spring Spirit and Ice Maiden (and Glory). I thought the Glory was a very good idea to create some diversity in Haven but having two more spirit in Sanctuary, made me dislike all kinds of spirits.
I do not understand why they had to give Sanctuary two water spirit creatures. One would have been enough, and personally I think the one that should stay in that case would be the Ice maiden because it looks much more interesting visually than the Spring spirit.
3. Spring spirit. Again. If it is both the water elemental and a Sanctuary creature plus that its still considered a neutral too, then I will be maaaaaaaad. If it is the water elemental, then we must get a new neutral creature too.
My nightmare scenario is that Glory is Light elemental and Spring spirit is the Water elemental and for expansion Dungeon we will have Dark elemental reworked as "Abyss Shade" or something like that as an elite creature.
4. Coral Maidens. Their artwork looks totally different in style, imo. While the male naga samurai look really cool, NAGAISH and looks like they are their own race, Coral maidens just looks like normal humans with a serpentine body. They are sooooooooooooooooooo boring. I hate them.
The Samurai guy looks like an actual naga, the Coral maiden looks like some lame mermaid and she doesnt even look that asian.

Sanctuary creature opinions
My opinions about the line-up:
Core:
Shark Warrior- overall nice looking. However, personally I would replace the weapon since Orcs already use a club (a trident perhaps) and change the name into something less generic- perhaps a name from Japanese/Chinese myths.
Kappa- I like- very cool creatures. Guess they are shooters.
Coral Maiden- I would change the names into Medusa/Gorgon, personally. Overall nice creatures, a nice touch would have their gaze turning enemies into statues made of coral rather than stone.
Elite:
Spring Spirit- Nah, quite unimaginate in my opinion. The Naga should be able to summon Water Elementals (perhaps an upg. Coral Maiden ability), not build them in town. I would replace them with a flying unit- some sort of manta ray perhaps, or a coutal/winged serpent.
Frost Maiden- Also nah, don't fit the underwater theme. The concept of an aquatic witch is nice, so perhaps replace them with some form of monstrous snake-hag with the body of a huge serpent but the face of a beautiful lady? Or 3 faces?
Kensei- Very nice. But- I would change the amount of arms into 4/6 respectively, to make them more impressive.
Champion:
Kirin- Awesome, truly beautiful...
Overall opinion- very nice and original, but change/replace the Spring Spirit and Frost Maiden as they don't fit the theme and are very uninspired. If they are replaced, this faction can be cool and original like the Necropolis/Inferno.

I love the new faction. Nothing new is ever going to be perfect, and if I go back and look at every faction from every homm I can easily find 1 or 2 units that I didn't particularly care for. But that doesn't mean I can't love the faction as a whole!
Things I really like about the Sanctuary:
-Artwork/Theme.
-Most units, especially the champion Kirin
-Playstyle.
-They're new and will feel very fresh to play as.

People, the Shark Man is not a random creature they pulled out of their ass, it's a Japanese myth.
The creature it is based on is called a Samebito, you can read about it here:

I gotta love how passionate the dev crew are when they speak of the new faction. I can respect that. I just don't like this new setting where everything seems to be tied to religion (the factions, not the creatures).
One thing though, I find a little peculiar:

Well said, Dave Jame. The despair over some of the design decisions can often get ridiculously over the top. All of the drama has made me think twice about responding on several occasions. I have my own uncertainties about the game, but I think there is a right and a wrong way to express those concerns. It's best to act as if you were talking to people face to face.
On the topic of Naga, I admit I was a bit unsure about the leaked concept art. The in-game models look much better to me, though. Overall I am very excited about the faction. I would have liked to see a few less humanoid units, but still, most of the units look pretty good. The architecture of the town is particularly nice. I would rank them as my second favorite faction after Stronghold.

it is quite obvious. it currently looks like it is almost the same creature than the water elemental, and that any amateur modder could have gotten the same result in 10 minutes

It also closely resemble Haven's Glory, not to mention the fact that all female units have nearly identical facial structures.
