The most important thing that the devs can do to Heroes VI is make it well balanced, good AI, and as strategic as Heroes III was....yes the town window is an important debate but it boils down to this for people to enjoy hours and hours of heroes....

And a good campaign! I couldn't get past the horrible dialogue and story of the first few levels with HoMM V.

And some likeable characters as well, be they good, evil or all over the place.

Yes, a good campaign....will last 20x longer than the other games we play (took me 3 days to finish Crysis 2)...

What is important is after the campaigns, when you play fellow people on random maps...the hours and hours of replayability...like chess...

Depends on how you like to play. (: I'm a casual gamer, so I'm not into all that competitive maxing-out-strategy play.

Heroes Campaigns, even Heroes V, playing through them is often both entertaining and lasts quite a long time.
(I'm of the opinion HV's story was "so bad it's good" and besides the story the gameplay was pretty good.)
Campaigns will take a while... like very long while.
Particulairly if you're like me and will use any and every oppertunity to try and explore the entire map and grab every single trinket in every nook and cranny.

lol, you remind me of impossible Gilraen of Agrael Campaign. my 2nd try with Lucky Gating on my Nightmares save the day I am the only one amongst my colleagues to pass the campaign without cheating.

EDIT: Back on topic. About the screen vs windows rage, I stand with the screen, I don't know if windows can capture the "feel" and the atmospheric beauty of the faction castle but we do know screen even when not full animated do the work.

At least they say that each faction's town window will have it's own music theme....to get at least some feeling of atmosphere (if any!)

I envy you! ;O The moment that princess chick yelled out something like FOR GRIFFINS or whatever it was, I knew I couldn't get far into it. Give me cool text windows over those gimpy cutscenes anytime. >.>;

I found that hilarious, almost all the haven heroes took everything really seriously yet spouted extremely silly lines.
I'd say the demon heroes had the most character except for Agrael who's motivation I couldn't identify.
Oooh and Zehir was extremely corny, I have to admit, he gave me a few chuckles.

It was kinda like a B movie along the lines of "The Ninja Robot Warriors of Zombie Island" ye know.... something like that.

Yup, and that's the darker and more serious Ashan which was promised to replace the naive Axeoth. I've never wanted to nuke the human faction in a Heroes game more than after I heard the "Griffin" thing twice. Fortunately the elves arrived soon and left the humans behind them in this regard.

He was a pedo stalker ... but really the motive is sillier (narratively speaking and as it was presented .. you kind of deduced it without having any real clues just bits thrown in the cut-scenes) he fell in love whit Izabel he was sent to watch over and prepare her to become the mother of the Dark Messiah (him and Biara)

Dark Messiah was pretty dark, but oh so lacking in the character and subtlety  departments.

Nope, sorry that didn't help matters, still not a motivation I am capable of understanding.

So far, a lot of the Haven story bits in HoMMVI actually sound interesting, particularly the friction between the various duchies.

I'm pretty certain the story will be better. The devs seem to spend more time in lore and flavour-text this time round.
But never say it cannot get worse. Cause it can. And if you say: "I cannot get worse than this." to often, it sure as hell will get worse.
