I fully agree with the Might vs. Magic hero comments. They don't really separate much from each other. As for the advanced classes ... well, haven't felt the impact of those too much yet.

Quote: I agree with the might/magic hero concern. It doesn't feel like a very big difference between them atm.
I think the early game is better than in H5 because you got so much more options now with the new ability/spell system. Still, I think that sometimes combat goes on for a little to long time. I remember a siege which I just ended up being tedious for me.
Sorry, but if you want fast fights, maybe you should check for another game or maybe you should just enable the quick fights, so you can pick what fight you want to do and what one you don't.
This game is about fights and I'm glad they don't end within 2 or 3 turns where stack X shatters stack Y to oblivion. I'm very happy that fights represent more than 50% of a Heroes game rather than having to resort to some stupid duel mode.

Well I find many of the combats extremely tedious - it's fine with long battles if they are tight and there is actually doubts about the outcome, but that's rarely the case here - often, it just feel like you have to get the job done, but it takes forever to get through with it.

I'm not saying battles should end within 3 turns, but the battles could get a little bit faster imo and then there are some creatures that help lengthen the battle with their abilities (not saying anything xD).
My main problem with it is sieges. Because of the NDA I can't really say much but let's just say that I think the castle defenses can be a little tough against certain types of creatures.
And also since its pre-beta, its annoying if you are in the middle of a siege and then disconnect from the game. xDD

I'm fine with the battle length, maybe I even like it (not sure yet) but some animations are unnecessarily long which could create a tedious effect. The Griffin's movement in particular is slow, clumsy and looks unnatural at the same time - in fact it's almost as bad as the Gargoyles from Heroes V.

Yeah, it takes ages for the Harpy to attack and I have even changed the settings to speed up animations a bit because with the original settings, it took half a minute for the Sister to move across the battlefield. xD

So from what I've seen (YouTube, not Beta) units respond to being attacked like this
Whereas I would've preferred a little more of this
Make the units a little more emotive or something?
But I guess it can't be helped since it's 3D (I don't recall H5 units looking this apathetic though).

Many animations seem unifinished, I'm sure we'll see huge improvements in the actual beta.
Though yes, speeding up things is necessary, but you can do it, and you should, because using default settings, it's on minimum speed.
Quote: My main problem with it is sieges.
Agreed, takes too long, even if there's only one creature in the garrison. However, there is an easy way to fix that...

I'm not playing BETA, but I am hoping you guys can answer this question: Is the world map too empty?
As a map maker, when I saw the great reduction in resources & dwelling variety, I immediately thought the maps would be too bland. I'm hoping this isn't the case though.

Couldn't find much neutral objects too but again this could be due to missing content.

I saw that, but he was the only one commenting on it. I was hoping to get some confirmation. Or maybe its just something I happen to notice in a game, while others look mostly at town window?

I did not get that feeling while playing though I understand if some people feel like that because there is no sulfur, gems and mercury on the maps anymore, the map is more zoomed out than in H5 and tbh some adventure map objects look more like props/doodads than interactable buildings.

This is a remake so it just contains what the H2 map did. It might look better if there were a few battle locations and new objects.

So basically, you're saying that 7 ressources are better than 4 because you could fill the map with more useless and repetitive crap ? Now that's some heavy argument !
Though, I agree that the map feels empty and that it's missing a lot of variety in map objects, but it's not a pile of sulfur here or there and a sulfur mine that would change that feeling. Once you've picked up your sulfur/mercury/gems piles, the map would look as empty as it is without.
What H6 maps are missing is diversity. While I don't want to go into extremes like H4 with its 3-5 skins per building, I admit that in H6, I'm quite tired of seeing the same statues everywhere.

So far my only concern is the balancing. I believe the beta will be better in this point.
And certain things are to small.

That being said, the reduction of rare ressources DOES suck pretty badly because it makes city building completely one-sided and boring, as it is always and always the same ressources you need for all the buildings.

Of course that is not what I'm saying and you know it. Let's not go back to the resources issue, it's getting way too repetitive. In this particular case however greater resource variety = more resource piles + more mines + more reasons to place neutral guards here and there. Frankly I didn't find a reason to attack neutrals specifically to plunder the resources which they were guarding - except when they were guarding gold - about two weeks after I captured all the (three....) mines.

Yeah, the resource thing came out worse than I thought it would. I thought that the Crystals were going to be rare and powerful resource, that you really would fight over but soon, I had more Crystals than I had Wood and Ore.
After playing a bit on a multiplayer map with Necro, I really do not see any reason to scrap the old resources. I kind of miss the H3 Mercury bowls.
Also I do like the evolving adventure map towns, but I would take real town screens over it any day and have a town that does not change on the adventure map instead.

Wow, yeah I thought the Crystalline Dragon Blood would definitely be a rare resource too.
Did you find yourself short of resources (other than gold) to continue building? Or did you always have enough ore/wood/blood ? I'm very curious about this.

I am actually playing on my first multiplayer map now against the AI (completed all the campaign missions first) and about a month has passed in my game and yes, I am a bit short on all resources. I was very suprised to see how expensive the Elite dwellings and upgrades are, and all that creatures you get at the end of the week also costs a lot.
