Maybe it's the best to not have played the previous BG games as this one looks and feels nothing like them. I'm certainly not part of the purist fanboy group as I don't have an incredibly high opinion of the series in general but that complaint of theirs seems quite valid.

Imo it was impossible. They decided to handle it to Larian, which is bound to make a great game of it, but "spiritually" it will not be a good sequel of what came before it, because it would need to be done like Pillars of Eternity/Tyranny. It will be a "Larian" game, only the lore is not theirs.

Today Age of Empires III DE releases. Though I did complete all campaigns back in the day, I think I'll enjoy them yet again. I have some fond memories related to this game (remember it as a really solid experience with unique and interesting mechanics), and new factions and tweaks are a welcome addition.

I'm certainly looking forward to Baldur's Gate III. Played the first one multiple times and have yet to finish the second one at some point (BG 2 is a lot tougher than 1).
Age of Empires 4 is another big fish waiting to see the light of day. Although the comment section under the first announcement video from a couple of years back has become quite a meme generator, because it took so very long for more news to arrive, it now seems to be intended to be released next year.
And if you want to look further into the future there is of course The Elder Scrolls 6 and certain modders remakes, namely Skywind and Skyblivion, remakes of The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind and Oblivion on the Skyrim engine.
Before TES 6 there'll be Starfield from Bethesda, which is certainly going to be interesting as well, maybe a bit like Fallout in space.

Bought Crusader King III on Steam but once I saw in game that it requires an IQ of 300, asked for a refund. During the tutorial I felt like Alzheimer stroke me, couldn't memorize anything. Brain overheat wasn't among the reasons proposed, so I shamelessly reported it didn't match the publicity screens. Anyone here tried that game?

Dunno, good for people who want challenges I guess (I tried it, btw). Still no horse pope in CK3 afaik.

Yeah I’ve played that a couple hundred hours of CK 2 but the popup spam gets to you. It’s fun and there are plenty of mods. There’s a pretty decent one for Westeros.
There are some of the best moments of absurd entertainment in that series.
- The first time your son tries to seduce you
- You marry a horse
- The horse gets pregnant
- You sacrifice your King to the devil
- The devil is your daughter
Etc. Of course all the regular backstabbing drama and empire building is included but that’s really more of an afterthought and it’s quite easy/simple in comparison. EU is better for that kinda thing, although I don’t particularly like the gameyness of the fourth. It’s too easy.
So in short, it’s for RP really. The strategy side is too simple.
You probably will have more fun if you don’t know how to play it well.

it's pretty fun, my only real complaint rn (as in legitimate complaint and not a feature request) is that I think there aren't enough events. CK2 had a lot more I think but CK3 mostly feels empty unless you're trying to do something yourself.

Okay, so I'm actually looking forward to this:
Magic: Legends
MtG lore is a bucket full of possibilities, and the gameplay looks fun and unique (a mix of hack n' slash and deckbuilding).
Usually I like summoner classes in RPG's and the whole idea of the game is build around summoning monsters. Kavu or Dragon companions? Count me in. There's also a possibility for two-color decks so it makes for a lot of custom builds options.
My only concern is with how the games model will look like, because it seems to be an online game so it might be pay-2-win heavy.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Not the cheapest buy, but you're getting almost all content aside from one dlc which they supposedly lost the code of. Might finally finish the trilogy.
And ofc Warhammer III. I might even consider a Collectors Edition cus those are slick and I regret the fact I don't own the past two editions...
On the other side of the spectrum: https://www.ign.com/articles/blizzard-multiple-warcraft-mobile-games-free-to-play.
With Blizzard recently announcing that they won't release Diablo 4 (as expected) and Overwatch 2 in 2021, one might ask why they even bother with Blizzcon? Are there any IPs? Or some general stuff they release either way like another 3 xpacks for Hearthstone. Probably to grab them moneys for those cosmetics packs... The whole "multiple mobile games in development" is some PR gibberish to throw at investors because their line-up is so dry this year.
And those mobile games... it's funny hearing from Kotick that "mobile games" are not premium content. Well, daaa. Also, wtf is going on with Immortal? With all the "hype" they "generated" the game still seems very far off...

I remember playing this kind of city builder games like Pharaoh or Caesar back in the day. But nowadays I wouldn't probably get invested in such a game.
Due to piles of work I actually didn't play any games for past 3 weeks, I only picked up two recently, due to a Steam Sale.
There are a few games I'm keeping my tabs on but most are unfortunately either early access or "in progress" at this point.

I wonder how much of the original three games is left...
I thought the company had some troubles finishing disciples 3, since they never added dwarves in it. I thought they were going bankrupt or something?
This really was sudden, I am just shocked. It's gonna be on PS5 as well? How will this game be played? Is it expensive to make this kind of a trailer these days? Who even cares about trailers, just make a good game! Apparently, closed alpha is planned to start soon, but they already released this fancy trailer...

Well they did bankrupt or something It is made by a different company under Kalypso (the guys known for Tropico series).
But yeah it is unexpected. We'll see if they only want to cash in on a well known franchise, or they will really make something from it. As far as I see they're going with "big battlefields" like in Disciples III which is sad becasue for me the isometric battles in 1-2 were one of its most unique aspects. I would rather prefer a remaster of 1-2 then anything.

This.
While it's surprising that they're even doing this, I can't say that the trailer gives a good vibe. Doesn't feel much like Disciples anymore imo.
