Hmm, downloads and installs but the editor wont open, yes. I'll wait for Siegfried to do what he says and if Salamandre patches it into Era, download it afterwards.

Edit: 20 post daily limit has been reached, so i'll write it here: Siegfried if it's not too much, while you're at it, can you merge the two Fred mods, and turn Pandora's box and Werewolf Dwelling etc etc also into optional additions instead of replacements.

I already told you how to make a mod for Era from start, but you continue to put stuff in your H3sprite.lod, then copy paste and botch everything for era mod release. You got offended because of advice then angry because some devilish curse upon you. Converted/fixed already twice for you, now your call

you didn't read my longer post explaining why i add to my h3sprite(on page 6, near the end). it seems to be an easy fix for you, i guess you use scripts. i asked you for those scripts, and you tell me it'd take too long explaining them to me. so what is the difference between the mods i try to put out, and your refurbished ones? because it seems an awfully EASY fix for you. my upload mirrors yours. what is the problem?

is it because there isn't supposed to be a space after the initial number at the top of the file? that's the only difference i see.

Yes, I removed the missing space only to make fun of you. Additionally, mod is working now.

so, after all this time, all the times i had problems uploading my mods, it all came down to a space. and you couldn't have told me that. the only reason i had a space in there is because i thought there was SUPPOSED to be one in there. but after checking all the txt files that were similar, i saw there was no space. something i had believed, unwittingly, and you had the answer all this time for MONTHS, and had to "clean" the txt files every time i uploaded? all this time? you're a real piece of work, salamandre. a real piece of work. i know you're expecting wrath, but you won't get it from me.

what you'll get from me is disbelief.

you must have a real problem with my work. it must threaten you somehow. i couldn't begin to fathom why you like to play with me. i don't think you would ever do that in real life.

This is typical ignorant dialog, sorry. I did not even know there is a missing space, the scripts are supposed to find any irregularity in the code and fix it. Thus you suppose now that your error is always a missing space and I should have told you sooner about.

Originally those PHP scripts were written by Bersy to help us to convert 2000+ objects patches made for wog 3.58, any mod made directly for era should not need them. They can help only if you mess in the codes, as you constantly do. Probably you use wrong text tools, I won't repeat what is already told 1000 times in this forum.

that's what i've always done, had a space underneath the number. so, what you're saying is, you've never actually looked at my txt files? merely ran a script on them, tested the results, and then rained your gifts of correctness down on me?

this leads me to think otherwise. this quote, above, has shown me your entire hand. (since we're somehow playing a game)

or are both of those misinterpreted quotes? feel free to explain yourself further, you have my full attention.

btw, the upload should fully work now.

That post was directed to your original post (which you edited while I was replying), in which you told is funny. Now it looks out of context, but I will not edit it because you change your mind so often.

Hey, calm down. Both. Each one of us has his strong and weak sides. F.ex. i'd never be able to do such amazing graphics. So what? I'll do the logical stuff, the computer thingies. And if Fred is not able to convert his graphics into a proper mod, so what? Someone else can do it. No reason for complaining about whatever at all.

Together we can manage it.

The new download still gives an error message about some duplicate stuff. The map editor opens now and some objects like the pandora's box are changed. I cant seem to find the naked ladies and pig head etc etc though. So I guess the answer to my question "is there any extra stuff in the first pack" was a simple "Yes."

All you had to do is download the txt file I posted and place it in \Objects.  Let's wait for Siegried to fix the whole thing, as he says "together we can".

I don't know how to fix the whole thing but here is at least the renumbered/renamed version of the first Fred mod. I've modified the lod and txt file name to Fred79a.lod and Fred79a.txt, because the second proposal  would better go into a separate "mod". I'll call them then Fred79b.lod and Fred79b.txt.

I have renumbered the lake objects and the Lucid Pools. Now both versions are available. The other objects i've not touched. I think the only overwritten object now is the cover of darkness. If someone preferes to have both i'll renumber that, too. The new Lucid Pools would be placable with erm if the txt entries where put into the zobjcts.txt as well.

Howto:
For WoG3.58f: Use LodMerge to merge the Fred79a.lod with h3sprite.lod, and use a text editor to copy the lines after the object count to the end of ZEOBJTS.TXT, and adjust the object count by +298 (fingers crossed, i hope this is not off-by-1). Optionally do the same with zaobjts.txt and/or zobjcts.txt

For Era: Rename the Fred79a.lod to Fred79a.pac. Put into mod folder (don't know which one). I think, Salamandre could tell what to do with the Fred79a.txt.

Freds second proposal i'll check and renumber this weekend. Until then have fun.

Well, to keep it clean i'd prefere to make two different "mods", each containing different objects. But yes, i'll renumber the overwritten objects, so you have both.

I'll sort out all objects from the second one which are already in the first one.

Was kidding, the whole thing means replacing the txt file with the one I uploaded. Fred still uploaded old one, or he opened mine with bad tools then saved, which destroyed the code.

*Grin*

Well, i hope all is fine now. At least with this first part. I really like some of the objects. Especially those pitch-black "scorched" objects, which allow a really dark map region.

I think a kind of "fog" or "night" would be possible without envolving png and real semi-transparency. I'm thinking of a technic i used long ago on my web page in the days before png. I used a 2x2 pixel gif with 2 pixels transparent and 2 pixels set to a color, ordered like a checkboard. With this a 50% transparency is possible. It's not as good as real semitransparency and limited to exactly 50%, but may be better than nothing.

I'm not sure about that, but how about this:

1. Take one of those pich-black patches. Convert to bmp.
2. Now create another image, same size, this time with transparency. Set 1 color to this cyan color which makes transparency in H3, the other to transparent.
3. Overlay these 2 images

The result should be an image of the terrain patch where every second pixel is set to the transparent color. If it is then possible to set their mode to foreground, like those rain and snow patches, this would probably give a nice dark fog.

The same might be doable with the fog patch and the toxic gas patch.

Just to make it more understandable:
1. The def picture as bmp:
2. Then the checkerboard
3. Then overlay the 2:

The idea is to have everything in one pack and avoid getting overcrowded. Since you're not an Era user you may not know but the Mods Manager is already full as it is right now, this is mine on a 1680x1050 monitor and I have about 10 mods uninstalled already:

i appreciate the work you're doing to help get my stuff to others, siegfried. we are in total agreement that people should work together, so that better things can come. additionally, is the problem now with the 1st upload or the 2nd? the 2nd should be fixed, but i may have messed up something by being up so late.

as for the scorched earth objects, the scorched earth terrain you pictured is replaced in the 2nd upload with a better one, not just a recolored earth terrain. and, i'm glad you like them. i've been trying to add as much versatile things as i could, with any scenario i could either imagine, or steal from greater minds(i've been getting ideas from different fantasy movies). right now i have 73 ideas on my to-do list, some have been completed, others started and incomplete, and still others that have not had any work yet.

edit: good god, artu. that's a hell of a lot of mods...

@artu: o.k., i see. But that would mean that the current update is just an intermediate update. It just covers Freds first files. So then you have to wait until weekend until i have some time again.

@Fred: Up to now i only handled your first file. The second one i downloaded and took a quick look at it, to see if anything is wrong. Seems to be o.k., so this weekend i'll rename/renumber the things there. And, because artu wanted, i'll combine them all into one "mod".

BTW, i think i'll reactivate the original cover of darkness too, so you can have both. For me it wasn't that important, but since i'm already messing up all...

An idea for the two objects "entrance to hell" and "entrance to heaven" (btw: good idea): What about renumbering them to a two-way monolite? Or to a subterranean gate?
