I knew that from the beginning and it was in the back of my mind the whole time, but I still wanted to wait for the damage and no retaliation since my units had such low might power in the first place.

And it was only close because Locksley didn't use much blood and I completly outplayed him etc. etc. you've heard all this before

DUEL TOURNEY MATCH RESULT:

After leaving a gap for his marksmen, I summoned light elemental into that area and blinded griffins. Was my highlight of the game. Otherwise I got beat up badly. Nothing else to say! Well done Slayer. DoubleDeck is now ZeroDeck (0 out 4)!

I also beat emperor today, pity he didn't join the tourney. I'll have the vid against double up soon because it's short, and the one against emperor.... eventually

Lol mega fail.

I'd watched most of the game actually, just skipped the ending as this is one endgame I have only seen too many times. I wouldn't have bothered with mass regeneration considering how much damage chain lightning does though the basic one was certainly nice.. You could definitely have used heroic charge and pressed attack to some good effect, those are the only way of dealing good damage when the bulk of your forces has gone down. It is sad that your last game caused you such frustration though

But despair not for your little message in the end has given me an idea! As of now you are eligible for joining the LOSERS' CUP
Those who did not advance to phase 2 and are out for blood raise your hands! Everyone plays everyone, all games will be played as BLOOD and you can freely choose the factions unless you want me to randomlize the occasional matchup.

As to the second phase there are a few incorrect growths that I'll have to correct, expect the new version tomorrow. While at that how do you feel about the current balance? I was considering to delay the fortification bonuses by 1 week which translates to -2 growth to all stacks but I am not entirely sure. Should I keep growth as it is or tweak it?

balance wise Id say it's very good, beside no way to customize your army. I believe the best way would be to calculate the maximum possible growth of every unit, give every player the same amount of gold and crystal + a market place and let them buy their own army.

If that is not possible, then there should be 2 possible armies to get, one where might units were bought first, other where magic units were bought first, including special heroe bonuses of each races in the formula.

Also I would reduce the lvl of heroes to 27 to better reflect the fact that we often take skills not related to combat during a normal map ( like more movement n stuff ).

Otherwise the rest is good.

The only real problem with that is that some units are jsut simply better than others. It would require a lot testing for that sort of thing to work, but it's not like there's money on the line here

Besides, i'm a fan of anything that'll get Elvin that no-good no-video watching monster more work!

I'd say perhaps consider tweaking Necropolis numbers slightly - as we've seen the turtling strategy can be incredibly lethal, especially if one gets a battlefield with lots of obstacles, which can be heavily detrimental to Sanc/Stronghold/Inferno. Especially when you consider how deadly the Reaper is - their reputation ability is extremely potent and it costs no Mana (just compare it to Flood Conjurer or Inquisitor's). If Necro had access to Fire Magic instead of Water they'd be near overpowered really.

@Elvin, in terms of balancing, I am no expert, but it seems balanced enough. Just some thoughts:

- Drop hero level to 25 (more tighter skill selection)
- Drop champion numbers by 5 (seem too much compared to elites/cores)

Sometimes I find that certain faction classes are better against other faction classes. This cannot be balanced, but wondering who out there thinks similar and with some examples...

Thanks Kayna and slayer for matches last night, slayer even though i lost enjoyed the match shot.

A few things which i am not too stoked on
1. gated stacks enjoying the same buffs as their originals, counterstrike 3 springs to mind?
2. area spells cannot be cast compoundley, ie if i cast acid cloud, and want to then cast blizzard in same area not possible. if there is a single obstacle on field, not possible to cast if 1 block is taken by obstacle.
3. there were a few other things, but I'm sure the youtube clip will highlight them

Kayna on the other hand, completely dismantled my build!!
both my puppets cancelled - great lesson thanks Kayna
relentless morale and initiative omg!!

Right now, i am thinking of a name change to bloody prince!!

@Elvin, is there any way i can sneak into losers cup??

Tournament matters
Elvin, In your summary you say I should play my last duel but you have also reported “Locksley 3/4”. I and arvisme have not been successful with arranging a duel. We had made a kind of agreement about playing two days ago – Saturday - but arvisme was elsewhere. Where are you arvisme!? What will we do, Elvin?

Balance matters
Some messy parts here. I think army size works well as it is, some creatures are stronger than others. But I think it’s better to keep working with weekly growths instead adding and removing creatures here and there.
I have complained about GA4 before but perhaps a bigger problem is Inferno with this massive Gating 4 triggering all the time. Level 30 means very few limitations which is a part of the fun but it also means that factions with massive end game bonuses are better than those without. The map with level 25 was better since you traded all points for something useful, now I often have 1-3 fillers.
One row of potions and scrolls could be a good addition, especially for a magic stronghold without meditation. And it adds some unpredictability when might heroes are involved, but with only 1 or maybe 2 scrolls it’s not a too big problem, perhaps.

The Duel Replay Matters

This mess is absolutely worth seeing. I hoped to turn this into a shooting duel where my huge magic power would decide the game in my favour, but I this failed. My placement and movements were big messes. Purity was so annoying, just like that mass damage from the cloud, dreamreavers and retribution aura. It’s good to have it confirmed that out of time effect disappears even if your vampire kill a unit so it won’t retaliate.

But one thing I did well – I realized when my shooters were lost and that it was time shift my focus to the vampires and to Meditate on how to destroy with Chain Lightning! As I should with Anastasya I had the Shadow Comb with + 8 spell power. I also picked Dark and Air III.

I’d like to answer some things you talked about in your comments Gameslayer. I think storm winds actually helped me enough to be worth casting: ok lightning, lower initiative and lower damage. I casted agony not to force you to retaliate but to keep you from moving to me, in accordance with my failing shooting strategy.
I kept the fate Weavers in spider form because I had 49 dark spell power but only a little might power which meant that they would be better as magic creatures even if they did half damage in melee. I also wanted to use the freezing web but I never did because there was only 1 blocking creature all the time and it felt like I would waste the ability. When you talked about the freezing web I was pushing the button but it didn’t work because the cyclopses were too many for my 1weavers.

I really wonder why you didn’t summon the Idol of Earth? We had a trench complete with poison gas and 20-30 % lower damage to all your troops in that corner could have helped a lot both against spells, hits and the cloud.

Good music! Good ending, let’s forget the bitterness we all have after a surprising loss. Well played! And why didn’t we do rock paper scissors instead of tossing a coin to decide who should be the attacker? It would have saved a lot of time.

For certain.. Too high ranged damage, too resilient/resurrectable meatshields makes for a bad combination. I have reduced the lamasu for the time being.

@Kayna
Sorry, too much work to make such a change. A few random scrolls wouldn't hurt though I'd avoid tier 3 spells for balance reasons.

@Doubledeck
As a rule of thumb blood magic vs tears magic leans towards blood. Might blood vs magic blood is normally a massacre which can go either way. Tears might is more reliable against blood might. Blood might vs blood might depends a LOT on faction initiative, my money would be on stronghold if it faced inferno.

Should have known, there was an extra copy paste which I counted as a separate match.. Which makes you 2/3 as opposed to gameslayer's 2/4. You should play arvis when you can but as far as phase two is concerned you pass by default. Even if you lost to arvis that would give you the same rating as gameslayer except you have already defeated him so the advantage is yours.

The -2 growth I am talking about is delaying fortification I and fortification II by one week respectively, which is not really unreasonable. But lamasu for instance have a fairly silly growth, I mean.. 5/7? This is too much for necro under the current circumstances. I have changed it to 5/6 and calculated their growth accordingly. Harpies and goblins also have a higher growth than the one I used, 8/11 and 12/18 compared to 7/10 and 11/16. Think I should increase them or are they fine? The actual increase is more like +20 goblins and +10 harpies so it's not that groundbreaking. The other change is yuki onnas that actually have a 3/5 growth while I thought they were 3/4.

About magic stronghold and lack of mana/spellpower is there is another possibility as well: Give them an extra potion and/or magic stat boost. I think they could use a little boost.

@elvin for balancing isues i had an ideea ! Put the number of troups that is in fort for purcesing in a castle, but gold only enough to buy 90% of the units in castle. So players will have a tactical decision in eficient cost units.
