Thanks a lot Fred you truly rock!

I assume that I just install it on top of previous version?

BTW why not ask Cor to give your thread the project rating so you can edit the OP anytime you want? Sad the pics don't even show anymore, imo your patch deserves good advertising.

yeah man, just install over the old. i checked the install myself, everything should be copacetic.

as for the project rating; i won't be around for 3 years during college, so i don't think that would be worth bothering cor for atm. maybe later, when i come back with 3d talent under my belt.

no problem. hope everyone enjoys the new/improved stuff. i would have added more(like all the artifacts and other objects i've done), but the other object sets are incomplete, require scripting, or are part of a town that is still in the works(Fear, Forge).

i want to focus primarily on my training in college. everything else comes second. even video games and sex.

i'm serious, though. i'm not even bringing my ps3 with me. i'm not even bringing this computer, but merely a backup of all my work. which reminds me: will an external drive that worked on a windows computer, work on a mac the same way? will i be able to access everything the same way i would a windows computer?

Should be, but even if it doesn't is just a matter of getting a driver, you won't be ****ed.

Nb. You will access everything but of course OSX won't read .exe natively.

First time in college, I guess? If there is one activity which is above anything else while in college, that is sex.

nooooo, i go to college all the time when i can't afford it on my own.

regular colleges are loaded with good-looking females, but this isn't a regular college i'll be going to. i don't anticipate too many distractions. but we'll see. regardless, i'm not going to college to continue my decadent debauchery; but to focus on studying, and graduating.

@ galaad: i'll have to do some research on what i'll need to make sure everything runs smoothly, then. thanks.

Windows is NTFS, OSX is HFS+, given the price of macbooks, I'd expect the ntfs driver should be installed from the go. Otherwise yeah a quick research should fix it.

currently working on replacing the original homm3 deciduous(oak) trees. i have 17 trees prepped so far, with more to go. once i have a decent amount prepped, i can start working on their fine-tuning individually. and once each one is complete, i can start making the clusters needed.

after them, i will work on the coniferous trees and their clusters.

If it's formatted FATS, yes, if it's formatted NTFS, you'll be able to copy things from it to your computer but you wont be able to copy things on your computer to the external drive. You can always reformat the external HD using OS X's Disk Utility though, once you temporarily copy the content elsewhere. If you want to use the external HD on both platforms regularly, FATS would be the practical choice.

Of course you can bypass such stupid restrictions using fstab or with a 3rd party software. I agree FATS is the way to go for external drives (I personally use exFAT).

i now have 45 trees prepped for the oak replacements, and made into defs. now comes the fine-tuning, and removal/replacing of any that don't make the final cut. i almost have twice as many trees for the oak replacements, than i did with the flowering trees that replaced the other old set.

cool. thanks, angelito.

edit: also, thanks for the qp. didn't notice that before.

------------

i have 16 trees done for the new set. i had to completely replace the coniferous trees i was going to put in the set twice, since i wasn't satisfied with the first two versions. i may even hold off and add them to the next set, as that would make more sense. then i may make a set that pairs the two sets up(deciduous and coniferous). and then i may pair those two sets up with the more colorful "fruit and flower" trees; just for the sake of continuity, when adding them to a map. i think they'll flow better that way, as a forest.

---------------

9 trees left to finish. I believe I'm going to have a mix of trees with this set, instead of all deciduous.

-------------

done with the individual trees. I will finish the clusters later today or tomorrow, and then post a screen of what they look like.
---------

tweaked a few trees. haven't started the clusters yet, but everything is now prepped properly(individual tree frames seperated with shadows, grid ready for ps work). i also have the sawmill to do after the clusters. for now, here's a comparison screen of the amount of new trees(top), with my other set(bottom, with clusters). as you can see, there will be many more trees to work with(i might still even leave the coniferous trees for the next set; as it's not likely i'll have to reuse any trees for each new cluster def):

what i may also do is swap out the two new flowering trees with 2 of the non-flowering trees from the bottom set, and rebuild the bottom clusters that contain those trees. it would make sense to keep everything in order. having those two flowering trees among all the non-flowering trees, will stand out like a sore thumb.

Wow wow these are amazing :*

Still, I think we have enough grass objects in this game. Sand, rock or lava objects are needed more.

@ warmonger: these aren't actually additions, but replacements(at least, in my lod). one of my goals is to replace all the older(original), uglier forests with better-looking ones.

as for other objects, you know that these trees are just a tiny fraction of what i plan on adding, right? i'm still nowhere near done with what i have planned.

----------

i redid the lineup on the two newer sets. now the flowering trees are with their kind, and i replaced the flowering trees in the new lineup with the best of the non-flowering trees from the last set(tweaked a few, and redid the clusters too):

---------
after what i did above, i checked out a couple of my maps, to make sure everything still looked good. and lo and behold, the new defs looked like a pixelated mess. so i changed the flowering tree defs back to their originals(minus the sawmill, which will keep it's updated version). but now i have to fix the two major maps due to the initial replacements(of the new set), as it is far too obvious they are the same graphics over and over. once i change up a huge chunk of the repeating trees for two maps, then i can finish the clusters. if i wait until afterward to do so, it'll be too difficult to find the visual "errors".

Very nice but then we would need a few also for snow and rough, elsewhere the pattern of trees will change too much. Less for lava or sand imo, as trees on lava look bad anyway, then on sand the palms are anyway good enough.
