love to see the progress. why'd you move the grail? is the mountainside forest going to be a dwelling spot, or were you just trying to use more of the townscreen space?

I did want the grail to be more of a "background" piece. But this is a pretty old (WIP) screen, the whole thing will probably get another overhaul in the future, not happy with the current results, it's pretty bad and plasticy atm.
I planned to have some forest-y dwelling, but atm will probs just leave it as decorations. There's not even a final lineup yet so we will see. But I have some more important project to take care of first.

I remember how I first berated you in this thread for putting the townscreen together from internet pictures and desaturated Rampart townscreen. I'm not sorry for it at all, you have proven that if someone wants, they can pick up the slack and improve on their own if they put their mind to it. Still have some work to do, current screen has this certain brand of... offness to it, not unlike the similar impression I got from Factory screen to a degree, but this is going in a proper direction. Who knows, maybe we'll actually get to see the Romanian Town finished before... uh... shrekoning.

once you import the image and make it a png, bmp, or whatever, look for a "pixellation" filter. it's what i used on some objects to achieve the correct appearance to seamlessly fit into homm3. essentially, you have to slightly screw the image up a little at a time, and get it just right, in order to get rid of that "clean" 3d look. you'll have to keep playing with it until you get a working formula that is universal. you may have to degenerate an image delicately afterward as well, by changing formats or using compression.
just remember to keep backups of the original files, because eventually someone will remake all of the graphics from scratch, using up-to-date methods. not saying who, but someone. eventually.

He means that you keep the 3DS or whatever 3D model format, since they canbe re-rendered later with next gen ray tracing or whatever have you, or to make romanian town as a VR scene for immersive H3 MMORPG, who knows
