@ HotA team: i just updated the trees(2 sets, anyway). i think i found the right balance. let me know if you guys want a 3rd upload. i never heard anything back after the 2nd.

Quite off topic, but this statement couldn't be farther from the truth.
Apart from "public domained" stuff you can use copyrighted material at least when released under free licences (CC-BY-(SA), Free Art License, GPL etc.) without the author's permission. In this case you're even free to sell the stuff without permission and aren't obliged to pay royalties.

If the stuff is declared as "free to use" sure... but also in that case it depends, most stuff you could use for free is watermarked to a webside where you could buy a HD version of the picture without advertising watermark for a license fee. In that case if you modify the watermark or change the piture in these cases it's also a problem. But in general free to use is of course free to use...

Can't wait for a new update either. But HotA team should take their time making quality work. It would be nice with some updates now and then on what's happening, but it's also nice when a new HotA update suddenly drops.

forgive me if i cross some boundary here, but i'm a busy man, and getting impatient.

these screens will show the progress i made on the trees. the first screen are the originals(for comparison):



the second screen shows the tree sets i made for you guys(that you currently have):



the third screen shows some minor changes i made to a couple tree sets, plus a noticeable change to one set(work you don't have yet):



and the final screen displays the trees finished(the best version i've done so far, that i think are more to your team's aim anyway. these are the trees that i'm wondering if you're interested in receiving or not):



i'd've posted a gif to better display the progress, but for some reason there is a drastic reduction in clarity when making it. probably the size of the gif? anyway, let me know. i'm sitting on a lot more than that, that you guys could be using in your own upload. if you're interested, anyway.

I like step 3 most... some highlights in trees but not too much, step 4 looks plastic somehow. Also the hut looks similar to the goblin hut in homm1.

i made the hut walls myself; i didn't care for the walls that came with the roof.

@ nik: i hope you like number 4 the best, as the others are gone now due to consolidating and streamlining my resource, work, and mod folders.

In that case: get better soon. I also like the reefs (more realistic than the stoney ones) and fireplace. The Starfishes look quite large, I would personally prefer a smaller (walk over) version, also details like seashells are nice imo. The more variety the better... :thumbsup:

Some more ideas:
Sandy terrain is still plain somehow imo, maybe some ruins or objects from a dry seabed could be interesting. Same for Lava terrain in RMG its so damn repetitive. I also miss mountains with snow topping, at least for the borders between biomes (snow->other biomes). As I said before, some more snowy versions for mapobjects are also missing

Yup. Clone and Prayer. Mirth requires some editing. And it's the only school with just 1 Level 5 Spell. Needs at least 1 more Level 5 spell.(See Magic Mirror Suggestion)

You must be kidding, is a goodly spell, almost cheating. Why people who never played the classic maps continue to rate spells, this is beyond my comprehension.

thanks for fixing that for me. i was trying to use the direct link because postimg wasn't giving me a proper link to use for forums. for some reason, i could see the pics just fine, using a computer that has all the add-ons turned on. my own computer, i get the same x as everybody else(i guess).

I think Precision excels at what it was invented for: to buff your shooters. Personally I don't usually cast it, but it really doesn't need any kind of change or buff.

Counterstrike is not really that useful. Maybe in some very specific maps and situations. However, this spell is good as it is now.

The problem with Hypnosis is it's low numbers. If it had larger numbers to begin with or at least scale better with spell power, it would be a great spell. However as I think Hypnosis should receive a buff in HotA, they would need to do it carefully - there's a change that it would get too out of hand, as it's currently only a lvl 3 spell. (IIRC something like Puppet Mastery is harder to obtain in Homm 5)

As with Magic Mirror, I have no idea how they should change it. Right now it's really bad spell, so they really should think about changing it somehow. I don't really like the idea of giving it to another magic school.

I would not change Mirth, it was meant to give your troops morale, and it does that.

Water should get totally new lvl 5 spell. I have no idea what it should be, thou.

I agree 100% with inferno, also Slayer should be totally rethought. Maybe it should be lower tier or something else.
I could also see Fire shield as a mass spell.

This is something that they will not put in their expansion, because such things are not in the original game. HotA team have said in many places that they will want to keep the classic touch while updating the game.
