lol, i ain't snow compared to the VCMI, Succession Wars, and HotA team. but i'm considering going to college for computer graphics/gaming/science degrees. that way, i can be on par with the best of them. as it is now, i'm really just a hack.

may I ask one question about HotA team ?

I've seen some words about Alex-ander. I saw something about him quite some time ago that he went to army.

Recently I red something about him being away here on HC. Is it true ? Will he come back and still work with HotA team ?

If there was such a discussion in this very thread I am sorry.

Is Hota Crew considering cooperation with Nephretes? He have been working on his Oasis town for over a year. Some creatures like Megadragon or Scorpion are looking so GOOD. Guess he could help you with Forge and you could help him with Oasis. 2 awesome towns comming to Hota in 2016 + neutral creatures? It would be amazing.

Wow, just got my hopes up for HotA Forge there, way to be disappointed.
It would indeed be awesome with Forge, new neutral creatures and maybe even Oasis in HotA in the future...

Registered on this forum just to say thankyou to the makers of this expansion.

I doubt anyone cares about my lifestory so I shall just get into the thick of things.

First of all I cannot believe this was released for free, unbelievable, this could have easily have been sold off as an expansion (see Age of Empires II HD: Forgotten Kingdoms and African Nations), simply because it fits into the original game seamlessly, unlike the other mod 'WoG' that aims to completely change the gaming experience (I was not a fan of this.). Horn of the Abyss at its core really is just a new faction, new items, bug fixes and some glaring balance changes that many have been waiting for (namely necromancy, conflux and gogs).

I think the changes to the model of orc chieftain and pikeman was unnecessary, but its ok, no big deal, if it comes as part of the creative package then I am all for it. Things like this however should be kept at a minimum, polishing up a model is fine, completely changing it not so much (Unless you are talking about the phoenix from Heros IV, or should I say turkey on fire LMFAO).

The models of the cove city and especially creatures are brilliant, I'm not talking about the creativity of the models but moreso about how they just fit into the game (I'm not sure of the technical term, perhaps the depth of the image/pixels?). Like if I didn't know any better I literally wouldn't have known this was some fan-made expansion.

K.I.S.S. (keep it simple, stupid) often is the success of many things, and is no different in this case. I like this expansion very very much.

Theres a few things I would love if the developers can consider/rethink for their next release (btw is this project still active?)

1) Crown of the Magi seems to be a really odd fit in the new combination set you created.

2) Orc cheiftain skin color in the army sorting tab (not battle model) needs to be darker to match that of the hobgoblins, wolf raiders and ogres.

3) Make ammo carts more useful in the game besides being a chain lightning meat shield.

4) This final request is going to be difficult to implement properly, but I'll just mention it anyway. In Heroes 3, the order of action for creatures in battle is determined by the speed of the creatures, and the position of the creatures in the army tab if creatures share the same speed. I always hated that last bit. Is there any way to change this or at least make it obvious to the "un-pro" player lol. Obviously in later Heroes versions you have the initiative feature and also the action order Tab. By no means am I suggesting to add initiative to creature mechanics, but if a speed action tab could be implemented without looking like a retarded amateur mod that would be fantastic.

5) Consider buffing the Tier 6 unit of Cove. Yes I know its a bloody tank. But its damage output and per week production means more often than not its simply ignored in battle, which ultimately defies the purpose of its tanking specialty and that shouldn't be the case for any Tier 6 unit (or perhaps thats the concept of the unit? to be ignored so it can dish out the damage, however the damage range, movement really leaves something to be desired). That tanking specialty is more suited as a secondary passive ability to a Tier 7 unit (slap it on the tier 7 unit and name it slithery scales lol or a reduced effect on a lower tier unit.

Can someone remind me what actually determines the order of action if the speed is the same, whats the priority order in the army positioning.

The overall scheme of who-goes-before-who follows a few rules. I'll define a "combat round" as one full pass over all creatures and one "combat turn" as an action performed by a creature stack during a combat round.

- Whenever a new combat turn begins, it will determine which creatures didn't act yet and pick the one with the highest speed from among those;

- If multiple creatures are tied for highest speed across both players, it will make the following consideration:
-- If it's the first combat turn of the battle, the attacker gets priority;
-- At any other combat turn, it regards the owner of the creature of the previous combat turn and give priority to the enemy of that owner;

- After that, it will check to see if multiple creatures for the acting player are tied for highest speed:
- If this is the case, it will consider the order of the Hero's army slots (paperdoll) and work from left to right to find the first of those creatures;

Rinse and repeat. Since the evaluation occurs every combat turn, changes in speed during a combat round cause shifts within the follow up order.

The initiative is going from highest to lowest speed. If at start of combat there is tie, attacker goes first. Game will try to flip sides when there are ties between ally and enemy to provide more equal chances.

If you have few units with the same speed, they move from highest (most top) slot to lowest (most bottom slot) and this evaluates position in your hero army slots, not in real combat (so moving one creature above another will not change initiative sequence)

I have created a map with Random Map. The size is Giant (the biggest) and then I have modified a bit, but when i start the game and save the match, the game no works the next session. In another words, the game no load the savegame.

I guess only nik312 writes here once in a while, don't know if any other members of the project post here.
The team are awfully secretive, but I guess it's just their style. We need to be patient, we might get something at the end of the year...

Well, for some people it wouldn't feel like a New Year's present if they already knew what was in it, at least if you hate spoilers and like getting surprised. There has been a few small hints dropped here and here, though.

I think some people might be getting more impatience now seeing as how other HMM3 projects has been releasing work/appetizers as of late. Anyhow, as per tradition we're very likely to see a patch at New Year, so there's actually not that much waiting left.

That sounds amazing with a new update by new years. And I think you are right with Forge, Oasis, Bastion and Fred's object patch on their way on other platforms people wish for something new for HotA too.
hippox are you part of the team as well? Or are you just making assumptions?
