Greedy = too resistive to share or gift. one of its meaning?
I mean in ERA world such things are done via plugins which can be included in any mod and configured via easily editable text file to match a mod (look at emerald or amethyst). some plugin makers made even source code of plugin availible.
So while I am not convinced with "We done it, so its ours - no share" about new features to heroes 3, perhaps I may respect it a bit. The first sentence is like "I know With current HoTA policy new towns would go never out of HoTA mod" and the second was "so please at least share code or dll of more heroes feature".
I was going to motivate you, not insult you. I hope the feature is minor enough in your eyes too share even with the policy :|

I'm not a part of HotA And you haven't insulted me, no worries I just don't see not sharing something that you have done as greed. Though I would love to know how to do what HotA did, I understand why they don't want to share their knowledge, and I respect that.

personally, i think they don't share it, because i think they have someone from nwc on board; and insider knowledge of that scope could get him/her in legal trouble.
so, i understand why they wouldn't, based on this PURE SPECULATION of mine.
...but then again, i WAS always good at guessing the correct answers to questions...

People from such former companies will most likely never work for free, it is their job. Remember the guy who originally designed H3 icons -Bryan Kemperer or something like that, he visited the forum and asked if someone needed him to design new things. Once he saw everyone works for free, he was gone and never returned.

This thread got me thinking about it. The formula for creature and skill specialists is always the same (excluding Conflux heroes), so I think it wouldn't be such a bad idea to give more options for map makers. I'm no programmer, but this kind of thing appears to me as pretty simple for you to implement. I mean, you've already made Cove heroes...
Setting some specialties for new heroes is one thing. Letting people create their own via Editor interface is totally different. And not in plans for nearest future. However, by editing a hero's name and portrait you can pretty much set any specialty you want of existing ones (although you won't be able to change hero class).

You kinda failed to do so. Those posts sound like "I know that you are a bunch of a-holes, that are not ready to share anything to all the brilliant modders out there, but at least share that bit of code that I need right now". This may be a problem of the language barrier and you never intended to imply smth like this but still - we are not an open-source project. We don't just share our code to random people. As for comparison to ERA mods - it is irrelevant. ERA is a modding platform with its own architecture, HotA is a standalone game, made by direct reverse-engineering SoD files. Chunks of our code wouldn't help you anyway, if you are creating mods for ERA. I'm not too familiar with it, but I doubt that such mods use direct calls to memory by certain offsets, storing certain functions, variables, e.t.c.
P.S. The addition of new heroes is btw one of the most (if not THE most) complex and bulky tasks of such sort.

I'm not too familiar with GoG version and which patches it requires to work properly, but overall yes - that seems like correct order

Played one Hota map and noticed two bugs from vanilla still in: AI converts water walk into fly (he can go anywhere after crossing water) and hero false stats limits are still 99. I didn't yet tested if boots of levitation produce same effect on AI.

While I still agree that prims are better then experience, if for garisson heroes I think you wouldn't regret the 500.
I tested it like this:
Having Calid with Estates instead of Learning I tried to get a garisson hero with Exp Wisdom and Advanced Earth. While previously I have skiped Air to get Advanced Estates right in the beginnig of the match I gave him Earth from Witch Hut then put it over a Conflux on underground, casted Tp and bought the other two other magic schools there. After that I used Poorman's TP to get him in Cove again and used the Naga Queens to level him up. I still don't have a Tower, they came for free, I don't really have a use for them and I have so few maketplaces even if I had a Strongold the Freelancer's Guild would give me less then an external one, wich I have right in front of the Conflux.

As you can see, to get these basic requests cost me 13 Naga Queens representing a value of 20800 gold if sold at full price or of 14560 if sold at external freelancer's guild and he is with a total of 8087 exp that he would double in 16 days. If I had him for 27 days giving a total of 250 exp (the same he as been giving me of gold), he would be with 6750 by now (probably more since Expert Estates was his first level up) and I would have saved at least 7810. I know money isn't all but it seams like this kind of Learning would be a good investment for menial heroes.

I don't play random maps. There are a bunch of Hota custom maps now in download, and most of them use high level heroes with stats over 99.

Ah! Cause I think the better the player the worst the hero he finnishes with, right? I mean, if you are faster both enemies and neutrals will give significativelly less experience.

Not necessarily. Most mapmakers are not aware of bugs created by high stats, so they will just create AI heroes, give them 99 in all stats and think it will remain at 99 when we come to fight them. Except that those AI heroes will start roaming on map, then they are coded to visit bonuses so will keep pumping stats, and at some point it will reset to 0. So instead of finding a boss, you find a zero stats hero.

I know it is not opensource. It is kind-a freeware? yeah?
I adressed ERA, because there plugins exist (anybody can make a plugin, but don't have to share a code).
You HoTA team were brave to break some limits - Creature (era has amethyst), artifact (not fully supporting Combos but yes emerald), Heroes (they are not yet but please share something) and your triumph card - Towns (which is really hard to do properly, but some of ERA modders can do dirty-hackish-workaround like in Dragon Peaks or ZL Hunter Town).
Note that both creature and artifact limit were broken in original wog (3.58f or 3.59 beta), but the heroes limit were too hard to them. If you can't share the triumph card with us PLEAASE help us with heroes limit, I would be really happy having configurable plugin for more heroes, even if it were pure closed code

@Salamandre Do those invisible stats act despise not being shown? I mean if my hero has 104 of attack and the enemy 84 of deffense does he do 100% more damage or 75%?

Yeah, that's what I think I saw when I got an hero with more then 99 without the plug-in to show above 99. I'm not sure how it works with the plug-in cause when I achive those numbers in random maps I usuallly have more then 60 points difference so it is capped.

Does anyone knows if HotA have the same AI limits as the old Heroes III? About how much gold AI receive and how many heroes AI hires?
