It is definitely possible once we find an experienced and skillful network programmer. Which are rare. And even more rare are those so full of enthusiasm towards heroes III to actually do something like that for free)

Update issue

Hey, so I was restarting my game and got a notification about the update. It seems to have broken my game though. It was speaking of missing folders (names were just odd signs). Had to abort.

It said the game would be left broken after the abort so I downloaded the latest file from the first post here and installed that instead. Now I'm getting an error saying:

"hota_me.dll is loaded not from editor"

The game won't run. It tried to update itself and gives me:

"Error #13 Folder <odd signs> does not exist."

Could have to do with HD mod perhaps? Normal HotA will run, but running the HD version gives those issues.

Just reinstall from scratch (don't forget to backup your savegames if you have any).

Hello , I hope I 'm right here . Can you create a G random map with underground but without water ?? Because I keep getting the same message : Could not create a random map thats fits current choices .

does any SoD necro player think the faction got hit too hard in HotA? been trying to learn it in hota but it feels really hard with halved necromancy and especially the loss of Galthran

IMO is ok, still a very strong town to play with in my experience.

Necropolis is only valuable on bigger maps with some time imho. It gets rushed to death quite fast otherwise. But thats just my experience...

Necropolis is fine in HotA imo, Necromancy is halved which is good as it was way too much before and they even got a few buffs too, some buildings got cheaper and you can control liches death cloud attack.
Ranloo sucks though and I don't consider Galthran OP, not compared to Isra, Vidomina and Thant at least.
Necropolis is of course best on large maps, like they always were.

Well, I was a SoD player once). And the answer depends on the definition of "really hard". When one town was overpowered beyond any reach - is it "really hard" when it becomes one of just above normal strength? First week for necropolis is quite difficult these times (although still easier than by standard SoD multiplayer rules, where Galthran was banned anyway and there was no benefit of 3 stacks on heroes or liches area cloud). However, if despite those difficulties you managed to find enough gold and resources for at least vamps+castle and upgrade+buy on 121, then your tempo will be just crazy. On average in my necro games by 123-124 I was able of clearing any zone guard or bank except for dragon utopia.

Regarding Castle's Lighthouse, I have heard that the bonus is applied to all players and not only owner of Castle. Does anyone know if this is true and if that's the case, if it's fixed in HotA?

Check it out with timed event... and 2 armies on boat move one on day one, timed event for lighthouse day2 move army with same unit and skills on day3 to check the distance. Never heard about this bug so far.

Maybe you try to create a map with some limited template, for example which allows only S-M-L maps.

Is there any plans for some sort of unit overhaul for conflux? They feel very mish mashy when it comes to play style and not satisfying to play either, the 4 main elementals (fire/water/earth/air) and their upgrades needs some sort of ability remake I feel.

The bug is present. Both in SoD final version, as well as HotA. I created a test map with 8 Haven players, each having a level 1 Knight with no skills and 1 Pikeman (although present army doesn't impact sea movement distance; default is 1500). On day 1 I had them board a boat. On day 2, a Lighthouse was constructed in their respective Castle. I disabled any seafaring Artifacts too.

A few things I noticed:
- Even though the Lighthouse is constructed at the very start of the turn, the bonus isn't applied to the Heroes of the faction it belongs to on that turn. I guess similar applies to all other buildings built through scripting as well;
- The bonus of the Castle Lighthouse is indeed applied to all Heroes, regardless of faction color and diplomatic standing (I had no teams, so they were all hostile towards one another);
- Sylvia's specialty description in HotA is incorrent as it refers to general sea movement, while surprisingly in SoD it is correctly referring to the Navigation skill;

The bonus is pretty steep, by the way. Each application increased the movement allowance by 500 points.
