We are working in a simple GitHub-repo when we made our Swedish translation. I think it will suffice for most of the plain text editing, the problem comes when you have to compile and build the entire solution to test if the translations are correct inside of HotA.exe. Also, if you want to keep some new features secret it might be a bad idea to make it public on GitHub

I'd love to help, but I understand if just the tracking of what a lot of people outside of the project group are doing would take up much of your time. At least it seems like there is a lot of potential in the community which could be used in some way!

Hey, Zuccer. I am the translator of the Spanish version (right now I am translating the new version 1.5.0), and I want to help you. The HotA texts are not in the .EXE file, but in the HotA.dat file. To edit it, I use an editor that I found online (the authors of the mod never answer my messages, so I have to find resources on my own). I do not remember the page where I found the application, but you could send it to you by mail if you want.

The problem is that this program is slightly limited, since it only recognizes English and Polish characters. In my language we have several symbols (', , , ) that the program does not recognize, and I have to use alternative words to avoid unsightly elements.

Finally, I think the biggest problem is the texts of the HD mod, because there are several add-ons (including the rules tournament plugin), which are encrypted in dll format. Baratorch has promised to put them in txt format in the future, but we are still waiting ...

Hey guys, I installed the 1.5.0 update and played for a while. Very nice changes, especially the spell research, which was a welcomed surprise.

I noticed something tho... I made a random map and the Plague week triggered. I remember that this was removed from RMG when Hota hit, so is this intended? Asking because I didn't see anything regarding this in the 1.5 notes.

Plague occurs when computer detects that human player sits in same town and does nothing for 3 months, kinda penalty hardcoded.

In all the years of playing H3, I didn't knew this. It was strange, because I didn't saw the Plague week since I played H3 Complete and I tend to farm my personal area when playing vs AI quite often.

I quote the line from the original list of added features:

Creature weeks, creature months and plague are disabled for random maps.

Hence my question if it was re-added in this patch

Now it depends on template settings. Default template pack has monster/plague weeks enabled, while most of single templates have them disabled.

Yes,u can rename same as old one and the opponent would not know.
Hope that the Hota team will take a position on this-its BIG ISSUE-and do something to protect or allow only balanced templates.
Until then i am thinking to quit playing online..

I'm not sure if this entire post is fitting here or not, but oh well.

Before I'll say anything I really want to thank Hota team for everything they've done and worked on for the past 2 years or so while making this amazing update. It's by far my favorite one.

I didn't get much to playing this update because I was mostly working 24/7 on a new map that would showcase everything new in 1.5. and I'd really love to share it in some grand way, but, just today I've encountered the first problem, mainly this. I've tried restarting the map, even doing different things, but every single time I would reveal that green sea portal, the game would crash. I've tested it both on the newest HD version and without it. (links to docs with crash files in it, sorry I couldn't do it in a better way atm)


If anyone would like to play the map, whatever to test the issue or to have some fun until you'll find another big bug i somehow have missed, it's here on on this polish site. I'd normally update or remove the map from there if I only knew how to.

Oh and is there any tutorial on how to use RMG Template Editor? I really have no idea how to use it despite trying to make something work for 5 hours. I do know how to handle the templates itself, I just don't know how to set them up so I can actually try them out and play them.

To use RMG temp editor effectively you must at least have the basic knowledge of how rmg.txt works. What i suggest is first read this thread: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=14290&pagenumber=1   and then analyze/test rmg text files using excel. If you face any difficulty,ask in thread and ill try to answer.

? the reason to have an editor, is to make is easier to create those templates. So no, you don't have to understand the previous way of making templates (only if you want to know limitations). But to create your own templates, you don't need to understand. Simply open some existing templates and explore every single setting. And to see the generated map, start it ingame and open the hm3 file generated in your random_maps folder with scenario editor.

Already found a bug that causes RMG map to not be generated:
