No I did'nt forget anything, where did I mention anything about single or multiplayer?
Besides why have both a Scouting and a Navigation specialist?, on maps with lots of water Navigation is way better than Scouting anyway.
Castle also does'nt have both Sylvia and Beatrice, it's one or the other.
I really think they should review some of the Captains starting skills too, I don't like Elmore, Leena, Jeremy or Miriam. (I did like the old versions of Jeremy and Miriam)
And where is the Eagle Eye hero every other town (except Conflux for obvious reasons) have?

Btw why do you feel the need to defend HotA with every little question mark raised? They should be able to do that themselves.

Could you be more spesific about how they should be changed? What's wrong with Navigation spealist's  having Adv. Navigation? Miriam is a scouting spealist, so Logistics fits her way better than it did for Jeremy. Lastly, Leena will likely become a secondary hero, so she having a movement improving skill makes sense to me.

I don't really miss Eagle Eye. Why they should make a hero that would not see play? Also, even the basic game isn't consistant on Eagle Eye: Besides Conflux lacking it, Inferno doesn't have EE speacialist.

Elmore: Advanced Navigation means he is too good a scout, give him another skill and only basic Navigation.
Leena: Having both Estates and +350 gold specialty, makes her the hero that earns the most gold at the start of the game, making her a must have hero. She would be fair if Estates was replaced by something else or she had Estates specialty instead of +350 gold.
Miriam: Having both Logistics and Scouting also seems a bit too convenient for a scout.
Jeremy: Nothing really wrong with him, except it makes sense if he switched skills with Miriam again, so they are both balanced.

Okay, now I understand what you meant, thanks for taking the time of expaining it.

IMO hota crew did a good job when desinging Cove's heroes. Especially I like the captain cast, because each one of them has something to offer and thus has a reason for me to hire them or even using them as a starting hero (in single player ofc)

I rather wish that some of the old heroes would be somewhat changed. For example, when playing as Tower, there really isn't much good/interresting candinates for starting heroes.

The reason why EE does not exist in Cove's hero cast, might be that Eagle Eye will be changed a lot/ transform into something very different / be deleted completely from the game. The desing choices they have done so for indicate that something will surely happen to that skill.

They have talked about that for years now, but is it actually EVER gonna happen... (Also Learning, Mysticism, First Aid and Sorcery needs buffs)

Yeah, they have. However, keep in mind that:

1) We're not talking about original development team - the Hota crew don't usually talk about any problems they're facing when coding their stuff, but remember that they still lack the source code, and I can only imagine how hard it is for them to make some of the more noticeable changes to the game. There might even be things that simply they cannot do, even they would like to.

2) The team did got some harsh feedback when they changed Resistance. Some people did claim the change was against the spirit of Homm3, and that Hota had chosen to be just a new WOG. There were also claims that people would not install the patch or simply not play Hota anymore.

Now, let's get back to Eagle Eye again. The most common ways of I see of making it better are
a) You can learn lvl 5 spells.
b) You will always learn the cast spells.
c) You can learn spells cast by creatures (Ogre Magi's Bloodlust eg.)

Those are all nice ideas and all go nicely with "the spirit of the skill". Unfortunately, EE would still be a dead skill even if all those buffs would make their way to the game. Eagle Eye is simply too bad to begin with. So, pretty much the only way to make it better would be to change the skill to something else.

But how they're going to make those changes, if the community will shout "WOG!" any time they're willing to make any bigger changes?

You are right and I'm not really expecting any more miracles from them, I just wish they would be a bit more vocal about what's going on. Once every 3-4 months an official member will come and post something very vague which may be considered in the near or far future, but that is really not much to go by. I have no idea what they are working on now, do you?

I am one of the people that dislike the new Resistance skill, I also don't like spell research, but at least both things can be turned off.
It really is no wonder they received backlash from the Resistance skill, again why mess with a perfectly fine skill, when there is stuff like Eagle Eye, First Aid and Learning much more in need of some love and care.

About Eagle Eye, I 100% percent agree, level 5 spells, greater succes rate, spells from creatures and I would add a 4th condition, it should learn spells immediately after they are cast, not after combat, when you might have lost the battle anyway. Actually I already made Eagle Eye learn level 5 spells and buffed the percentage to 70% at all levels, (100% would ruin Eagle Eye specialists and artifacts) but I have no idea how to implement the other things.

Question for the Hota team:

Are there any plans on fixing the Conflux hero line up? As we all at this point, NWC didn't have much time to plan and create Conflux, and I feel that especially the hero line-ups were extremely rushed. NWC would not have designed Conflux the way it is in AB if they have had time. So how about possibly changing some of the heroes altogether or at least doing something to their specialities or secondary skills?

Few things I want to point out:

1) Planeswalkers only have 4 different specialities.

2) Thunar and Erdamon are basically the same hero. (same skills and special)

3) Fiur and Ignissa, Pasis and Monere, Lacus and Kalt are also quite similiar. If they only had at least other secondary skills, it would give much more variety when choosing a starting hero.

4)Intenius can only target 2 melee units with his Bloodlust, if we assume that player has upgraded his Water and Air elementals.

My suggestion how the worst secondary skills in HotA should be fixed. (I hope HotA team might get inspired by that)

Eagle Eye:

Basic - 100% chance of learning 1-3 level spell if cast. 30% of learning any 1-3 lvl spell from enemies spell book (each individual spell in book have 30% chance of learning)

Advanced - 100% chance of learning 1-4 level spell if cast. 40% of learning any 1-3 lvl spell from enemies spell book (each individual spell in book have 40% chance of learning)

Expert - 100% chance of learning 1-5 level spell if cast. 50% of learning any 1-3 lvl spell from enemies spell book (each individual spell in book have 50% chance of learning)

with such balance Eagle Eye specialists and artifacts are now very useful


Mysticism:

Basic - regenerates 2 spell points per day.

Advanced - regenerates 4 spell points per day.

Expert - regenerates 8 spell points per day.


First Aid:

Basic - heals full 50 points of damage instead of 1-50. First Aid Tent to be restored after battle.

Advanced - heals full 75 points of damage instead of 1-75. First Aid Tent to be restored after battle.

Expert - heals full 100 points of damage instead of 1-100. First Aid Tent to be restored after battle.

First Aid specialists will now add additional points to the full points of damage restored by the First Aid Tent


Learning:


Basic - increases a hero's earned experience by 10%.

Advanced - increases a hero's earned experience by 20%.

Expert - increases a hero's earned experience by 30%

Kinkeria is now actually useful as a hero.

Here's a thought out of the blue:

If your opponent casts a spell you may cast it directly after for half or lower the mana price... just thinking out loud really.

Even at 100% chances eagle eye is worthless except very narrow custom campaign settings.

How would you benefit from it over logistics, tactics, earth magic when in a normal map (especially in multiplayer) the only meaningful battle you fight against enemy heroes is the decisive one?

You're right. I just tested some of the skills on map generator. I changed my mind on some things.

Learning skill should be actually 10/25/50 to have any impact on the game. The current one raises hero level by just 1, which is not enough considering the skill wastes 1 slot. Learning skill would be especially powerful for heroes like Crag Hack.

Kinkeria with 20/50/100 would actually be a powerful hero too. Imagine having 2x of the normal experience. It would do something, especially for the early game.

With Eagle Eye, hero should also learn spells not only from enemy's books (without casting) but also from units book (hero could learn any spell available for that unit. eg. Enchanter, Sea Witch, Faerie Dragon) that would be actually very beneficial if a hero could learn a Meteor Shower or Chain Lightning from a Faerie Dragon that did not even cast the spell during the battle.

First Aid Expert should not only heal all 100 points but would also make use of First Aid Tent not necessary as it would no longer be needed to heal units.

That would be the perfect if implemented

I wish HotA changed that in the upcoming updates. I hope they are reading the forum.

Also with Eagle Eye. Hero with Expert Eagle Eye should have 100% change of learning any spell that could be cast by the friendly unit.

If a hero joined Faerie Dragons to his army and had Expert Eagle Eye he immediately learns Ice Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Fireball, Magic Arrow, Frost Ring, Inferno, Meteor Shower and Chain Lightning (all spells available for Faerie Dragon)

The spells cannot be learn if disabled by the map.

Imagine having one hero with Expert Eagle Eye and Scholar that would transfer those spells to your main hero.

Eagle Eye suddenly stops being a worst skill ever.

Well, how about adding some secondary abilities to these skills?

- Eagle Eye could get scouting radius (2/3/4) as well as 100% Chance to learn without the requirement fulfilled (like, learning Chain Lightning without Wisdom)

- Mysticism would additionally increase the mana regeneration depending on knowledge or even allowing to regenerate mana in combat

- Scholar could also have the mentor ability. That would make it a more interesting ability for a main hero

and so on
