It's plain obvious that expert earth magic alone is better than all other skills combined ( not even exaggerating). Lets wait and see what team has on mind to balance magic schools, hopefully not another resistance catastrophe. And control spells belonging to all schools sounds balanced but i consider it touching the "sacred" part of the game, not right imo.

Instead of adding a new skill for it, you could also just use the Wisdom skill for it.

Have you played Heroes IV? They tried that, all magic schools are of some use and you need at least three of the four might schools to have a decent hero, so it is Combat, Tactics and Pathfinding with two magic schools at random.
In summary, with all that effort you're still locked with the same few skills and some heroes (Lords) can't be main on their own.
Now imagine if all 27 Heroes III skills were of the same value and you still only had eight slots to fill...
It's good to have a set of seven skills you always want (Logistics, Wisdom, Earth, Air, Offense, Armorer & Tactics for multi, variations with Archery, Water and Intelligence for single) unless they give you a chance to refine your previous choices later, be it by having "hidden" skills you only fill when the right choice is presented or by having a Market of Time/Memory Mentor that allows you lose the skills you don't need so you can get the ones needed at the moment.
Anyway you look at it, more useful skills means less powerful main heroes and more situational secondary heroes and I don't see how this can improve gameplay.
I have nothing against improving Mysticism, Learning, Eagle Eye or First Aid but Water and Fire aren't available to all classes of heroes so they should remain weaker then Air and Earth and never a must have.

But what is even the point of Fire and Water Magic if everyone chooses Earth and Air anyway?

I'm not saying all 28 skills should be equally good, but the worst could be improved so they could at least have a rare niche use.
Learning for example is downright HARMFUL to your hero, you waste a skill slot and 3 levels to gain 1 level, there is no other way to describe it than pathetic.
Eagle Eye on your main hero, will probably mean you learn 1-3 combat spells in the game, which may or may not be of your chosen magic schools.
First Aid, well good luck finding and keeping the tent in the first place and what is the point when you have Resurrection/Animate Dead anyway?
Mysticism also useless, don't need to explain do I?
Sorcery very low bonus, unlike the elemental orbs (again Earth and Air LOL) that are actually useful.
Ballistics is also a skill I consider useless, but AI needs it.
Imagine if the above skills were actually useful, at least sometimes...  

Town Portal, Fly and Dimension Door should of course not be Fire or Water only, that would mean certain classes can't learn them.

Fire and Water are very useful in single player, just you look at Hommm 3 (small tricks vs AI) and Metataxer's Revenge to get some ideas. But they shouldn't be vital or some classes of heroes (exactly the ones one tends to choose main from) will be unplayable.
Of course, one can make all magic schools available to all classes of heroes but I think you lose some diversity by doing that.

Single player isn't an argument. And i'm too lazy to quote whatever someone said about us complaining that HOTA should change things we don't like when in reality is that THEY are doing that. Be it by changing scouting (much appreciated change) and resistance (just as bad), while allowing the rest of worthless skills just the same and not even allowing us to toggle them on and off on multiplayer, well, this is just one of many other things they refuse to address. And the utmost proof on how they want things their way is how little to no customization is allowed.

Not even a complaint, I'm happy with that they did so far. I think I've already said this before, it's clear that their focus is on content and not on balance, so complaining about balance is just a waste of time.

Well if they want things to be balanced they really need to take a look at some of the heroes, skills, spells and (combo)artifacts.
HotA is not balanced, far from it, but I guess some people prefer it that way.

The balance they care about is between factions, not if some miserable skill is more or less valuable. Even if Mysticism was to recover 30% of the spellpoll it woundn't be a top choice and the same goes to whatever percentage you assign to Learning. With all those cyclops in the final battles they made Archery really useful, yeah!

Last thing I heard from HotA devs is that they plan to rebalance (at least) Mysticism.

Yeah while HotA team stays silent, people are either discussing some minor tweaks to the game and others are creating their own version of their concepts (Cathedral).

How much time do I have for the 3rd campaign's 3rd scenario? The scenario mission is missing that detail. The lack of TP spell makes it a logistics nightmare and I think I may have taken too long as I just started the 3rd month.

Number of new and never seen before object renders: Horn of the Abyss, Cove town (without Fort), updated Conflux model, Trident of Dominion.









The remade Conflux sprite is one of the many planned changes to fix the issues with the town's appearance that are being worked on. These sprites for the adventure map will be introduced in HotA 1.5.4, while some other changes, such as considerable improvements on the town screen and several tweaks to the heroes, are planned to be completed later.
