While I'm not a fan of the unit as a whole (while the idea seems to be in line with the direction Factory is going, I'm usually less interested in human units design wise), I guess her aesthetic goes in line with how Blacksmiths are usually depicted in fantasy/steampunk (arcanepunk?) settings.

We assume Factory is a technologically advanced faction, so it will have its share of things that "stand out", but it is soooo much better then the original NWC/3DO idea. It might even attract some steampunk lovers (don't know if good or bad thing ). They don't have many classic TBS games if I recall.

Besides, while cool, I think Bounty Hunters stand out even more. But like I said before, I respect and accept HotA teams choices, I expect this faction will grow on me Instead of another typical H3 high fantasy Elven/Dwarven faction we are getting something fresh and exciting.

I am in the camp that thinks she's somewhat out of place, with regards to aesthetics. Hopefully it's not the final version, though, and the one we will eventually get really fits the town. Up to the HotA team.

The ability to make flame throwers is not the issue here, it is the style in which they have chosen. She looks exactly like a soldier using a flamethrower from WWI, which does not fit the overall design of HoMM3.



But you know the technology and style of Fraction (This style is steampunk and something simillary to Victorian style (Proletariat) Halflings and mechanic  . That even funny becouse Kreegans (Inferno) Are more technology fraction at this point becouse they heave teleports,modern armor . She looks to moder for you than why bounty-hunters dont like even modern to you ?

And i dont see any similarity to WWI solider to her besides she heave flamethrowers (In the world they are even more modern flamethrowers like something in Forge)  Her clothers are nothing special that was even in middle ages all blacksmith has something like that.

I am really liking Factory. Especially Bounty Hunter is simply amazing.

About 12th city. I think perfect candidate would be city based around Chinese/Asian culture, something similar to Sanctuary from Heroes VI. I know that Nagas are already part of the Tower, but there are dozens other mythological creatures that they can pull inspiration from, like Fu Dogs, Terracota Warrios, Monkey King etc. They can also mix fantasy elements with historical, like what they did with Factory. For example firecrackers and samurais.

Tons of possible ideas. Something firmly Asiatic, as you suggest, filling the ranks with mythology; a Jadamean town, as a dark-but-non-evil mirror of sorts of Rampart; a dwarven town, complicated by Rampart but bolstered by the very firm support for Dwarven civilizations in the lore (even in Heroes, thanks to II); hinge a resurrection of the Cathedral 'Dark Castle' concept on the lore around Karigor, and so much else.
Ultimately, however, we have what is said in that interview that can be found a few pages back: the HotA team is "in no hurry to draw up detailed plans for the twelfth town at the moment", "All content in the expansion is closely interlinked, and we already have a wealth of well-developed internally-made concepts.", and "among the potential candidates, another neutral one is of particular interest." - suggesting town concepts to HotA is not very fruitful, for good reasons. Perhaps the town doesn't fit what they plan, perhaps they already have thought of it, but development into a firm plan is for later.

I wouldn't be worried at this point. Especially now the flamethrower chick might even see a total "rework" as her name was changed. I was first expecting it to be a low level fighter unit with access to "fire breath" ability. Now that she's been changed to a Mechanic, I would rather expect some sort of support unit.

I was also expecting her to be more muscled, thicker, butch, etc. She looks rather thin right now. I mean if she is working all day in the forges, she'd have a pretty decent muscle mass from the constant physical duress.

The Bounty Hunters look amazing actually, there style fits rather well.

Its the style of her flamethrower. It is exactly like what someone in WWI would have used.

Maybe becouse she dont heave time to eat well its all about nutritions

Questions for HotA Crew, about Factory, I hope you will answer them:
* Is Factory going to have Shipyard?
* Is Factory going to have Artifact Merchants?
* How fast is the fastest unit of Factory?
* How far does the Mage Guild of Factory go to? (Level 3, 4 or 5)

Now some stuff about Cove, because I can't help being annoyed by some of the Cove heroes:
* Miriam: Both Logistics, Scouting and Scouting specialty = too much.
* Elmore: Advanced Navigation and Navigation specialty = too much.
* Leena: Estates and +350 gold specialty = too much.

Also how come on water maps Castle has either a Navigation or Scouting specialist, but for Cove it's either a Navigation specialist or a creature specialist? I like the Castle system better.

Also Zilare's special is useless, double duration is useless, you get more than enough duration from spell power already. I suggest making him an Eagle Eye specialist instead, Cove should'nt be excluded from having poor heroes. (It would make more sense for Cove to have an Eagle Eye hero, than Tower, which already gets tons of spells and have tons of heroes with Scholar.)

Its the style of her flamethrower. It is exactly like what someone in WWI would have used.





wow double standards much? no one seemed to say anything about the way-too-large size of the bounty hunters, but, hey, they re men, right?

No. People simply like the design of BH. Plus they are T6 so need to be at least a bit intimidating.

Exactly. Although I would like the BH to be a bit smaller, I am just specifically talking about there design right now.

Flamethrower chick just looks out of place a little bit. All she needs is a little TLC to make her fit better into the towns overall style. I think her flamethrower should look more like this

With the hose attached to a more ornate backpack fuel tank. Perhaps with gold decals and more steampunkish elements. Perhaps a different outfit as well.

Sooooo, Zilare is useless, but Cove shouldn't be excluded from having bad heroes. You might to want take sec to think that one again?

I agree that Zilare isn't the most amazing hero, but I think the point of having him specialising in Forgetfulness is the same reason why Eovacius and Kinkeria are there aswell. Hota team has shown they want there to be certain spell and secondary skill specialists that lack in the base game. And let's be honest, if you want to make Forgetfullnes specialist, there aren't many ways to make the spell better without turning it something that it already isn't. They chose the duration part and went with it.

And I don't understand why you're saying some Cove heroes are starting with (too) good combination of secondary skills. You just yourself listed Wystan as a bad Fortress hero in another thread, since you feel he has somewhat sub-optimal secondary skill choice (archery) Should hero like Shakti be nerfed too, since he has both Tactics and Offence?

I don't understand the mindset of why someone would have to make bad desing choices, because someone else didn't have the resources or the knowledge of what this game would turn into 20 years earlier. I personally would like all heroes to have some kind of own niche, an ability to be good at something. Wouldn't it to be refreshing, if you could pick any hero and enjoy playing as each them equally?

And about Eagle Eye: I think we've both agreed on that something needs to be done to this skill. You've seen that some hota maps even ban EE altogether, and even Sav said one point that EE is pretty much wasted ability. So why on earth they would now change it to one of Cove's heroes, if they agree on that it's bad and something will happen to it in the future?

Going on your logic then some of the vanilla heroes should be nerfed as well. Such as Christian, Ivor, Gunnar, Jabarkas, Alkin, etc.

@Hourglass Yeah I understand it could seem conflicting. The truth is I want all heroes to be at least reasonably balanced, which they currently are not. What is the fun in everyone always picking the same heroes? Everyone always talks about Crag Hack, Tazar and the Logistics specialists and I guess we all figured out long ago who are the best heroes in the game.
But I don't see why Cove should have 3 hyperspecialised and very good heroes. Then there are crappy heroes no one would ever pick as main heroes such as Serena, Uland, Melodia, Olema or Inteus.

Agreed! Not to mention that there are classes (like those poor old wizards) which are simply terrible.

In case of heroes I just have 2 Problems...

1) Witches in General -> Magic gain in masses (useless 40-40 'til 10 and 30-30 after, while Attack/Def is just 5-15 'til 10 and 20-20 after) and super bad sec skillgain. (Eagle Eye, Scholar, First Aid, Mysticism, Artillery, Ballistic, Intelligence) all at min 2x higher than E,A,F,W-Magic.

2) Conflux heroes in general... they are doubled and bad designed in general. But HotA team said they gonna deal with that matter.

Anyway... some other heroes could also use a rebalance but that depends on the magic/skill update in the future if this gonna change. I still wait for the magic update.
