I've got 8 total Forge objects made. I'm still wondering if this team is doing the same thing...

We are definetely separate teams and HotA-crew is not working on Forge atm. Have some stuff to fix and to introduce

Bug



In the trade screen between heroes, the moral icon that is displayed is wrong. In this case, the moral icon is displayed as '-1' when it should be the neutral icon that is shown. I know HotA has already fixed this same bug in the main hero screen, but the bug is still present here.

I tried this just now, but they are correctly stack (in the order they died). Maybe it's a bug that happens during more specific circumstances?

What if you could see additional information of a creature? I'm particular thinking about the basic 'speed' of creatures. You'd have to alt-tap less often to look up the info on websites, if so. I understand the idea of the 'skills' in remembering such information in your head, but you'd just look the info up on websites anyhow, right? But maybe it's not as easy to implement as it might seem?

Would it be feasible to make objects with light sources that seem to affect the terrain around it with how the Heroes 3 engine works? Since the Heroes 3 engine natively doesn't support light sources, as it does shadow, then a campfire would probably have to have a 6x6 draw area, would that cause issues? I suppose you might have to either add a bit of neural terrain to it - or a bit of specific terrain to it - in this case, you'd have multiple of campfires for every single terrain type which might seem too much of a bother to be feasible.

I think that having light sources that seem to affect the area close them would be a nice addition, but maybe not feasible.

it is feasible. it's not that hard to do, either. all you have to do is make a couple of small templates for the terrain, recolor only one of them, blend, then add the fire layer into it frame by frame. i was thinking about doing it myself, for the glowing mushrooms i have, as well as the campfires. but i have a list of things to take care of. i'm sure somebody will do it one day.

i have green ones in my object patch(for Forge), although they don't have the lighted terrain. i've made blue and purple ones to light up the dark underground, and a glowing green Seer's Hut mushroom for the Forge, as well.

Well, in theory it is feasible, but in practice, all your fire camps will have the same ID, as there is no free ID available to create one for each terrain. So any random map you generate will place only the first ID from the list, thus you will get ugly results, depending on the terrain.

So your "is easy" works only for custom maps, where you choose manually the terrain and the fire camp.

Easy solution: we leave one standard fire camp for random maps, while the rest are new ones.

RMG can select image for object depending on terrain. Crypts for snow is the example.

I have a request for HotA team.
I am a big fan of Archangel but I dont quite like the creature design.
Here is some picture of what i prefer:

(I really like the concept, a full armored angel with mask that hiding the face. I dont like the wings though, i prefer a single pair of wings)

What do you guys think?
Could you guys do something about this? I really love the concept.
I'm not asking to change the current model, but maybe you guys can make a mod for this(like you guys did with Pikemen/Halberdier and Orc/Orc Chieftain).
Im not hoping so much, just want to share the idea.

I think Archangel is unlikely to be changed. Its design comes from M&M games, moreover it used to be the main promotion creature for vanilla Heroes 3. It's too iconic I'd say. The ones you posted are more H5-like imo.

Quite true. Besides, that angle doesn't really fit the style set in H3, I'd say. It looks too lavish to me.

Orc and Pikeman were redone due to really bad quality of their original graphics.
Also, Hota fixes bugs and balance issues, so I think, that they won't do what shouldn't be done - and Archangel doesn't look horribly bad.

Aw, too bad.
I didnt know that Archangel was used as icon in Heroes3(started playing heroes3 using SOD)
Dont have to be exactly like the picture and we can adapt it to heroes3 style, but oh well, thanks for the feedback guys.
