First of all, DD was always like that (you are probably playing at higher resolution than in SoD, and that's what makes you think it's smaller); Phoenixes are still immune to fire, only Firebirds aren't; and the land movement artifacts... well, they said that those were somewhat imba in PvP, so they nerfed them (I myself have never played PvP, btw). However, they might revert them, due to custom maps needing the items to remain the same, but I'm not too sure.

I have only listed some of the things off the top of my head, there's more, which is why I asked if there are options for players like me to selectively revert some changes.

I hate that sprites now require magic university, it was one of my favorite things to do in SoD - upgrade quickly and have ~100 of them next week and just milk zombies for chests. Yes they were a bit OP but that was in my view balanced out by mediocre mid-range units of this faction.

I have a big issue with the fly spell and how it prevents me from flying over stuff like, for example, shrines blocking me in the underground, forcing me to go around. I've seen numerous cases where the overzealous approach to balancing fly spell and preventing players from picking things up without a fight, led to ridiculous issues for legitimate players that just want to use a shortcut without exploiting it.

I don't understand why some heroes have been removed from the game, like Galthran or Thorgrim, the latter being somehow tied to the removal of resistance skill and related features across the board - notably another change that I do not understand.

I miss the orb of inhibition and recanter's cloak greatly and would love to see them back. Again, I can't find any explanation as to why these have been removed.

I could keep on going with the stuff I don't like but that's not the point.
It would be nice if there was some way to revert some of these changes.

HotA would be great with some more choices and customization.
And I feel the same way, there are a some things I like, but some things I don't like.
I actually reverted some of the things back to how they were in SoD.
But overall I love HotA for adding new and exciting high quality stuff, even though not everything is balanced...

Most of them (heroes, artifacts, skills) weren't removed and can be enabled. Their removal would have caused a riot among the fans.

I think this is something that they might revert, as they recently added a limit of 100 rounds whitch the battle can last. (this can be changed or nullified in map editor)

Well, Thogrim is now replaced with similiar hero, Giselle. Changes to Resistance were made because of multiplayer in mind. Battles did become a die roll, where Resistance were either useless or the simply best skill ever with no middle ground. Basically, MP games tend to last around 1-2 hours, so it wasn't the best experience to find out that the result of the climatic final battle was decided only by luck. Both Thogrim and Galthran (as well as any other hero) can be set back by using RMG/map editor.

Good news, these you can easily set back by using the new RMG editor or hota's own map editor. Changes were made to enritch (multiplayer) games - by removing them magic heroes are actually useful.

You need both. You start HotA from HD_Launcher.exe, which comes with HD+ mod.

I just installed HOTA 1.61 and it gives me a launcher called Hota HD.
The launcher application itself is called "HoMM3 HD 5.0 RC88 Launcher".

It has that blue banner where it says Heroes III HD+

I could be wrong but i think i have all the benefits of HD Mod without installing it (only installed HOTA 1.61).

Hmm, I wonder what happened, as I would have given the same exact instructions as Firepaladin did. But I do confirm, if that's what you see on your screen, there's no need to install anything else - you're good to go.

Yes. HOTA 1.6.1 instailation file has integrated HD-mod in it. You don't need to do anything if you want to play single player mode. But...if you want to join multiplayer lobby you must update hd-mod to the last version. Because HotA 1.6.1 came out in New Year 2020 and has intergrated hd-mod version from New Year 2020. But from this time, few newer version of HD-mod has been released. But, again, updating hd mod is important only for online players.

Hello. I tried to re-enable most of the artifacts and removed heroes through map editor, but how do I make that apply to all future generated random maps? I didn't see a way to do that. Is it just for specific maps?

Ok, I'm gonna explain this soon. I'll edit this comment. I just wanted to let you know I'm gonna clarify everything in a minute or so.


Enabling through RMG editor:

First, start the application known as "RMG Template Editor.exe" in your game folder. After you opened it, go to "File>Open" and browse to your "game folder>HotA_RMGTemplates>"template_name">rmg.txt".

After that, you're gonna see lots of colorful squares. Ignore them. Now, go to "Template>Settings>what you want enabled". If you want Ring of Suppression enabled, click on it and then press the arrow pointing to "Enable" area.

For heroes, go into "Template pack>Settings" and choose heroes. However, there's a max number of starting heroes, so if you want Thorgrim as starting hero, you have to disable any other Rampart hero first.

I wanted to give him a full guide, since I have experience with the ones on reddit who then ask you how to do it after telling them to open RMG editor.

After Factory, from what I've heard. But if you want to localize HotA now, the team will happily give you the editor after you show them your work.

Could you please tell me how should I reach the team directly? I have translated the new Cove interface and features like units, heroes, objects etc. and couple of HotA maps. Now, that can be done with HotA editor and map editor I understand. But campaigns remain in English. Not that I couldnŽt comprehend games in English. But you know. I mean everybody likes to read in their tongue.
